Perhaps "ugly" is not the right word. Because ugly can be preferable or cool, if done right (like someone said about Orcs). Most of my characters are like that.. the problem is simply getting it right. I'd restart if it doesn't turn out correctly.
Not caring at all is a completely different thing. Some people don't think about design or have any preconception about things. Which is cool too.. I wish I could be like that sometimes. But when I make a rpg character, I get a concept and sort of have an image in mind to "cast" in the role, as I would in a movie. I've been this way forever. Even when playing pen and paper dnd as a kid, I would have drawn the character at least once. And in pen and paper, it doesn't matter at all. You don't see anything. It's merely for my own satisifaction.
