There's 2 moons in skyrim?!

That's a meteorite. The Ministry of Truth.
It's not there anymore though.

Well, technically, it cannot be a "meteorite" because a meteorite is a meteor that has hit the ground (See Websters's http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/meteorite ) and it is hovering over the City without touching the ground. So it is not a meteorite,

It is not a "meteor" either because a meteor is a small particle that is only visible by the incandesence produced from atmospheric friction. (Again, see Webster's http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/meteor?show=0&t=1332528993) The Ministery is hovering and plainly visible from reflected light, not incansescence. So, not a meteor.

The UESP calls it a "moonlet." http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Vivec_Ministry So, I stand by my original assessment.

M'aiq the Liar told me there was only one moon, so I never bothered to look up to notice.

Now I know why he is called M'aiq the Liar. :(

M'aiq's name is just a falsehood, he in fact always tells the truth.

Just ask him, he'll tell ya.

Thank you sir, never boring to read TES lore. You know much of the lore, no? I tend to see you in these discussions often.

Ive been hooked on TES lore a long time now.
Its just so fascinating. I find the entire premise of the kind of universe that we believed in in the dreamtime of our species, a mythical universe where things happen not because of physics or mathematics but because of magic or belief, to be extremely interesting.
I find that the best way to deal with all lore that conflicts other lore to be to treat them all as being true.

:tes:

I couldn't help but read this in an old scholarly voice. There's a particular voice in the game, but I can't remember who has it (multiple people, I'm sure) - maybe the professor at the College of Winterhold? Anyway, I love the idea of gamely scholars; see what I did there? Only you're good natured so, well, just pretend the joke worked perfectly. I especially liked your closing sentence, it was the perfect slice of intellectual food for thought that the character I've now decided you are would deal out.

A picture of my Breton, Belle, with the moon Masser near the Hall of the Vigilant:

These are some really good photos man! They contrast each other perfectly, one at night and one in the day, the one of Masser is really good haha ;)

Oh come on!

The op was right asking here; it makes a good conversation.

Indeed,i never imagined that 2 moons could have been such interesting argument.

My apologies to the Op; he has unintentionally provided a good starting idea. :wavey:

the 2 moons are the dead body of a god (lorkhan, started the making of mundas), the sun is a hole to the divine plane (atherius) and was made by another god (magnus [spellng?], who participated only half way in the making of mundas, he left before it was done and made the hole) and the stars are where lesser gods (which are called aedra [litteraly: our ancestors] or deadra [not our ancestors] these days)

lore question: would the et'ada that left during the making of mundas be aedra, deadra or something else (maybe still be et'ada)?
