Yes. Nirn (The Planet) has two moons, Masser and Secunda.

There's always been two moons in the TES games. Every single one has had two moons.

If I recall the Lore correctly they are actually the bodies of two dead gods.

I have, couple times now actually.

Spoiler
1st time I saw them I was actually in the Lunar Forge area and tried Smithing something because of the book "Notes on the Lunar Forge" said when the moons are aligned, blahblahblah you can enchant special crap, etc. Didn't work though sadly..

The moons are actually the dead body of Lorkhan (spelling?).

The Elder Scrolls has always had two satellites in orbit around Nirn.

Morrowind was my first TES game. I noticed the two moons, but never really gave it much thought. They can make for some nice screenshots, expecially if there's an aurora.

EDIT: Here's a screenshot, only one moon in this pic, but its one of my favorites.

It takes time to learn the lore of TES. I began with Oblivion and I'm still learning but it's getting better. Take a moment to read the books you find in Skyrim. Some of them give you quests too. :) :tes:

A lot of games I ignore the books, but the TES series and the BG and IWD series all have nice, informative and intresting in-game books. I'm also getting better at the lore, especially with Dunmer (my favorite race) and the Daedra.

Noticed this years ago, and my first thought was "how is 2 whole moons that near to the planet not mess with the tide?"

Keep in mind that the theory that the moons are the corpse of Lorkhan is just a theory proposed in The Lunar Lorkhan, it doesn't mean its true. Masser could be a planet with Secunda orbiting it, and it could be Nirn's own "Nibiru" for all we know.

The TES series is a gaming series that demands that you do at least some rudimentary research with regards to where you are and what's around you. Otherwise you just end up blundering around the place falling over things...

Funny thing is, the person who wrote Heimsker's speech is the same person who had a hand in that :3. And by earth, Heimsker means "earth" in the sense of land.

They are called Masser and Secunda in Imperial, or Jone and Jode in Ehlnofex.
They are the body of a dead god, Lorkhan.

Its not a theory by the way.
The Mundus is a geocentric universe with Nirn square in the middle.
Everything orbits around Nirn, the moons the planets, the sun.
This can for instance be seen at the orrery in Oblivion.
Imperial Mannanauts have been to the moons, as have Altmer Sunbirds.
Khajiit dont need ships, they can just climb up there, as they have the sugar to do so.

And they even have different orbits and moon phases in Skyrim. Pretty nice detail compared to Oblivion and Morrowind in my opinion.

They ALWAYS said there are 2 moons.

But there is actually 3 and it's hidden on the other side.

It's called Nazeem.
