Skyrim has really ugly dresses

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 12:38 am

I am a guy and on my 3rd character I made my first female. As soon as I got a house and could basically grab what I want without becoming overincumbered. I realized I just couldn't have enough clothes. I will pick up anything if I don't already have it even if it looks like crap lol!!
My Nord looks best in the Alva's threads. When I enter a city I always change out of my adventuring/fighting duds into something more girls.
Come to think of it, she looks pretty good in her blacksmith garb too.

I prefer vanilla Skyrim' dresses by far over Oblivion' ones...and Skyrim' ones are pretty good as they are IMO. They could be much worse. Also, the variety has also been greatly increased.

Surly, High Rock will feature the best dresses in Tamriel. If they go over that province a second time.

There certainly were some nice dresses the first time around, and plenty of them. Not a very good selection of shoes, though, only baggy brown ones that don't go well with most of them - the other games definitely have the advantage there. *sigh* Don't worry, Bethesda, you'll get it right eventually.

some of the armors aren't the best. Graphically good but some of the light armors such as fur, studded and scaled look daft on a male. Great on a female if you want to see more flesh but then ancient Nord or Forsworn is better.

More light armor like the city guard / Stormcloaks would have been better. That and being Nord I was expecting to see chain mail & ring mail armors return in full effect.

Also a majority of the helmets look ugly or daft

The new races and environment look absolutely great as do the graphics on the armors. Its just some of the designs.

Steel plate armor, ancient Nord and ebony look great. Dragon plate is good. Glass is good. For them its only the helmets which could have been a bit better. I find my characters not wearing helmets because they look better without.

Besides the Tavern outfit, Skyrim's clothing isn't as goodlooking as Oblivion, I miss the Blue Velvet Outfit.

I think the lower class dresses look good, it's the upper class dresses that are really lacking. I agree that the fine dresses in Oblivion were so much prettier. That outfit your character wears to Elewen's party? Or the outfit you are given to show off to the Jarl? Both are hideous! I actually put some of the pretty dresses and shoes on my character in Oblivion. I haven't seen anything in Skyrim yet that I would want to wear over the armor or robes that my character usually wears. Speaking of which I like the armor and mage robe designs much better in Skyrim...the game just needs a couple of really fine dresses for court and I'd be set.

I would prefer tight, nice pants like you, but with a tunic that had a short skirt with splits or something to realistically handle combat.

The ragged pants on a female are tight pants with a tunic and isn't ragged. On a male they are just pants.

Fairness, yes, Oblivion did have nicer clothes but it's the heart of the empire. More money, more nice stuff. Skyrim is the armpit of the empire. An awesome place..to be from. The clothes...not so nice. At least that's how I ran it through my mind..

I'll have to go find some. At first, I thought you meant the starting outfit, but guess these are something different? At present I am happy with Marcurio and my character wearing a 'uniform' of Black Chitin Armor, which I can craft from Chaurus Chitin and leather. I got the idea from this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1359742-what-armors-from-previous-installments-would-you-like-to-see-in-skyrim/page__fromsearch__1

Found a nice pair of Fur-lined Boots (clothing, not armour) in a Nord ruin, but never seen them for sale anywhere.
The Vaermina robe would make a nice dressing gown but I wouldn't wear it out of the house.

I guess you are right, this is especialy a problem for rpers on a console since they cant download mods (yet, who knows some day)
I like the tavern clothes...but it is a shame there is only a green colour. Red, dark blue or black would fit my female main character very well. And perhaps a more ''rich'' version without the holes and the silk. But that character is not too fancy on pretty clothes. Probably because she is raisen by a werewolf in the forests where surviving is more necessary. Something like the stormcloak officer armour would fit her very well too.

My male main character has no problems with this, he always walks around in his armor.
For some reason i do have a good feeling that there will be more pretty clothes in the DLC...i don't know why i think that.
