Skyrim has really ugly dresses

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 4:02 am

The most prettiest dress is the wedding dress, but you have to do some questionable things to obtain it.
I miss the dresses in oblivion like:
The blue velvet one, the black velvet burgendy one, and the red velvet one
The dresses in skyrim are very blehh, along with all the other noble clothes
Like this?
The noble clothes that jarls wear look sooo ugly, the fine clothes are really ugly,
they are all bleh.
I know that its skyrim were its freezing and women probably cared more about surviving then looks, there should still be more pretty dresses, with out all the fur and layers.
The only ones i can stand are the green and blue dresses with the fur, but i hate the fur, i dont want a dress with extra layers, just a one layered dress.
Cant we just have a dress?
Plus all the fine boots are ugly
in oblivion we got blue suede shoes, black gold trimmed shoes, and so much pretty shoes.
The fine shoes in skyrim are gross and just look like normal brown boots.
Plus both of the fine boots looks the exact same on females.
There is some pretty commoner dresses, but my characters not a commoner, shes a noble, so she should be able to wear pretty noble dresses.
But they dont exist.
And i cant mod in pretty dresses, i play on console.
Hopefully they make a new pretty dresses dlc soon.

Normal clothing was definitely better in Oblivion.

I miss the dresses too! I kept looking for something nice to wear and there was nothing! I had to look like a male with some kinda dead animal across my shoulders.
I can't find ANY noble dresses I would wear, even if I'm in a Nordic land. Geesh I had to go to a party there and my "fine" clothes looked like something I picked off a homeless person!
I can't wait for the CK and the great modders to fix this.

Agreed, some nicer clothes would be good.

I'm sure modders will get around to it eventually, unfortunately for me I'm stuck on Xbox 360. I'm going to go to UESP right now and see if I can find something that isn't ugly for my mage.

EDIT: Unfortunately it doesn't look like it's possible to find unenchanted Thalmor robes, which I don't think look too bad.

I like the new rugged clothing of Skyrim. I also miss the elegant clothing of both Morrowind and Oblivion. I would like more clothing styles for characters with different taste. That would go along wig more options something I am always advocating about. Man I wish I had a PC.

I miss the fact all clothes are named, now they're all labeled as 'clothes'

Well, I suppose it's to be expected in Skyrim, when you're dealing with Nords you're not exactly going to be finding the height of fashion. I kind of like some of the upper-class clothing, though, at least as seeming Nordic while still being its own sort of stylish.

(I'd also like at least the option for my character to wear trousers with more than just a rare few outfits, even if I wouldn't necessarily use that option too often, but that's a slightly different problem. )

Well, the economy in Skyrim is pretty raggedy, so I am sure the people won't worry about their looks or clothing much.

I am sure if the Economic conditions improve rapidly, then the dresses would improve as well.

Well shouldent the jarls be able to afford nice clothes? espicially for their kids?
I heard balgruufs daughter complaining about wanting a new dress too.
i dont blame her, every child has the exact same generic outfit but with a differant color scheme.
Come to think of it they all have the same face too.
Weird.

Now that I think about it, they do have the same face.

The clothes are raggedy and I do agree with you... because a lot of the Jarls are selfish when it comes to money.

I want better clothes too, proper mage robes .. and better hats.. all the hats are as boring as the boots . I don't want a dead animal on my shoulders and female clothes should look different from male clothes . And the kids do all look the same.. I blame a sneaky Lothario who seduces all the young wives !!

Yes, Hugo Boss left http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/29/Bundesarchiv_Bild_146-2008-0276%2C_Hans_Heinrich_Lammers.jpg on fashion.

I think part of it has to do with culture of Cyrodiil vs Skyrim. The style of clothing fits the landscape and the culture.

To the OP , the blue velvet dress from Oblivion was my favourite too, glad I am not the only one who thinks the clothing in Skyrim is horrible.

The only short dress I found for a female character I had was the tavern clothes, but came with a dish cloth attached. Other than that she wore hide, studded or scale light armour.

Have you seen the Chef's outfit?? I've only seen a photo from the waist up, but on a female it looked a little like..... Gah! The girl from Rohan... long blond hair, in love with Aragorn... Very pretty. Without the Chef's hat of course.

Now to find one...

I just wonder why the stitching looks like something a caveman would do.

Hide armour style but in a nice silk fabric and add some ruffles or lace would be very pretty.

Why does every hat hide the Khajiit ears, guess argonian to? it look stupid, one hat does not but it's so big the ears could fit inside.
For most of the poking trough had looked better.
Mostly I miss skirts, made lots of combinations possible.

Argonians have http://allaboutfrogs.org/weird/pictures/ear.gif. Hats hide horns though.
