Skyrim has really ugly dresses

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 4:17 am

Have you seen the Chef's outfit?? I've only seen a photo from the waist up, but on a female it looked a little like..... Gah! The girl from Rohan... long blond hair, in love with Aragorn... Very pretty. Without the Chef's hat of course.

Now to find one...

You cant start your search in Riften's Ratways :)

i actully dont mind the clothes in Skyrim, i usually just wear miners clothes or the green hunters clothes with leather boots and bracers, never made a female character though. :P

My favourite dress is actually the mourner's gown. It's one of the only ones that looks kind of nice (though I wouldn't mind it in blue rather than black!)

OP gets 100% agreement from me. Long boots are fine in the snow, but I miss the green velvet shoes.

Argonians have http://allaboutfrogs.org/weird/pictures/ear.gif. Hats hide horns though.

You are right, however horns are even harder to fold, Khajiit ears can be folded but is look uncomfortable.

One thing I really like about Skyrim's clothing is that skimpy outfits aren't prevalent.

One thing I really hate about Skyrim's clothing is the lack of variety. It's especially bad when it comes to male clothing.

There's another game I'm waiting for which offers a lot more variety. Some of its designs would not go amis in Skyrim. For instance: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/a/ac/Human_dress_%28saucy%29_render.jpg might seem a little anachronistic, but http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/2/20/Human_dress_render.jpgwouldn't and would certainly fit. For male fine clothes there are things like http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/3/35/Town02M_render.jpg while http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/8/82/Town01M_render.jpg would suit more 'middle class' men.

Radiant Raiments, they have everything that isn't unique (except tavern clothes, apparently).

What do you want dresses for? You have robes for mages, and armor for everyone else.

I'll be heading to Radiant Raiment for both of them! What else have I got to spend money on?

I don't think that is a big concern for the majority of us. Anyways, fancy dresses don't fit in in Skyrim, they did in Cyrodiil.

I think that it not bothering you is just you. :)

It doesn't bother me either, but that's just me.

I think the clothing is fine.

I'm just glad the robes are better than Oblivion, and we have hats and gloves!

They don't like the clothes in Skyrim either. I was walking by the owner of Radiant Raiment in the dress she gave me, and she made rude remarks about my clothes!

Haha, I had the same thing happen, like five minutes after she gave it to me. I was thinking, "Are you saying you're a terrible designer? Because if you're going to be like that I'm starting to agree with you then." <_<

Tavern clothes can be found in Morthal or the cave quest nearby.

I agree. During the "Fit for a Jarl" quest my female character was asked to model some clothes for Elisif the Fair. My first reaction was that this had to be a joke. Bethesda must be poking fun at Taarie. The outfit looked incredibly horrible. It was so bad I was actually embarrassed for my character. I began paying more attention to clothes after that. And I realized a lot of the clothes looked equally bad. In fact I'd say the more expensive the clothes the more hideous they look.

My character is holding on to the Belted Tunic she found at level 1. Nothing we've come across looks better than that in my opinion.

I've been rather unimpressed by all cloth attire as well.

I wanted a swordsman who wore no armor and used Alteration....

but I find it hard to really look cool cause my options just....... svck.

Using archmage robes for now just cause the enchantments on it are really good and I don't have the Apparel Stam enchants I need yet.

I really wish I could drop the hood on that thing though.....

I miss my brown shirt and blacksmith pants. Use those with a Cutlass for my pirate character on Oblivion. Miner's Cloths are meh. I would like to see more trouser outfits for female characters.

The most prettiest dress is the wedding dress, but you have to do some questionable things to obtain it.
I miss the dresses in oblivion like:
The blue velvet one, the black velvet burgendy one, and the red velvet one
The dresses in skyrim are very blehh, along with all the other noble clothes
Like this?
The noble clothes that jarls wear look sooo ugly, the fine clothes are really ugly,
they are all bleh.
I know that its skyrim were its freezing and women probably cared more about surviving then looks, there should still be more pretty dresses, with out all the fur and layers.
The only ones i can stand are the green and blue dresses with the fur, but i hate the fur, i dont want a dress with extra layers, just a one layered dress.
Cant we just have a dress?
Plus all the fine boots are ugly
in oblivion we got blue suede shoes, black gold trimmed shoes, and so much pretty shoes.
The fine shoes in skyrim are gross and just look like normal brown boots.
Plus both of the fine boots looks the exact same on females.
There is some pretty commoner dresses, but my characters not a commoner, shes a noble, so she should be able to wear pretty noble dresses.
But they dont exist.
And i cant mod in pretty dresses, i play on console.
Hopefully they make a new pretty dresses dlc soon.

Okay, I agree with you.

But...

Have you ever been to da Yoop (Upper Peninsula of Michigan)? Dem Yoopers don't dress all that fancy either. Or think about Alberta Canada. Ja ya betcha they thinkin more about keepin warm except for them crazy half nekkid Forsworn in Skyrim.

But Safer Savior posts a dress that would be for the rich (the red one, not the slit one). The men's stuff would be for the rich, not middle class workin' folk.

Not enough town drunks if you ask me either except they kind of did Windhelm up pretty good.

Regarding the chef's outfit? Just off the chef in Markarth. Oops. I did it again. I let the blade slip.

Blue Velvet Dress was my favorite also. I put the dress on my char any time we came into a town. Actually with role play it made sense, wearing the cloths while the armor was repaired and cleaned. ( aired out if nothing else )

My thief/assassin wears the morning cloths, my warrior wears a Blue dress, it looks like a Kindergardener sewed it. I might have to try the Chiefs cloths for her.

I would like more pants... leather pants, chainmail and leather top, with the fur boots. light armor for an adventurer.

My mage in OB wore a regular dress, Black with gold trim.

I certainly get the point that this is a cold, hard country and therefore it would not be appropriate for commoners to wear fancy, frilly clothing. But my female character has not come across anything that she would wear to paint the alchemy lab, let alone wander the streets of town in. Yes, the clothes are ugly. Even the "fine clothes" look like a slightly higher quality sack when worn by a woman. There is one green peasant dress that's kind of okay. Most of the dresses have large primitive stitching and often a rag hanging from the waist. *shudder* The clothes in Oblivion were MUCH better. At least there was variety, and they were actually attractive.

As a warrior type, my Oblivion character usually rocked the tight, black "blacksmith's" pants and one of many beautiful shirts available in the game. There was green and blue and burgundy, and a great number of different shoes. These were good for general "about town" clothes. When she wandered up to the castles, she had several pretty dresses and skirts to wear for the occasion.

My Skyrim character made a matching set of Epic Orcish armor for herself and Argis the Bulwark, her housecarl and spouse. So that's all she usually wears. Every now and then, she 'll put on the "tavern clothes" and sashay around the house, hoping to get Argis's attention. But since the "headache bug" has not been repaired, he won't even sleep in the same bed, so no luck there. *sigh*

Just to point out, Bethesda, WOMEN PLAY ELDER SCROLLS TOO. Giving our character's decent clothes would not have been that hard.
