Is there anyone that DOES like having their gear taken away?

I prefer to have my gear taken away, mainly because it adds more of a survival/scavenging feel to it. I wouldn't want it happening in every DLC though.

I despise having my stuff taken away. It is a cliché that every game from Half Life has done when they can't think of another way to make the game a challenge.

I don't mind it. It creates a new challenge. Plus I really like the survivalist aspect, so it works out fine. I suppose if I was pretty inept, I would hate it.

Problem solving isn't the forte of the foolish.

Also, is there going to be a chance to get a second Holorifle in upcoming DLCs? I really want one for Veronica, but I love the weapon too much to give it up.

In the PSN Qore feature, they showed an OWB clip with the Courier wearing a modified Assassin Suit, kind of Tron-ish, so there is a chance you'll find another Holorifle.

Another question that I'd like to know about... The comment that the limited carry weight for Honest Hearts can be affected by perks... is it specific perks (like explicitly checking for Pack Rat, etc), or is it a general check? I have Project Nevada's cyberware mod, and use the Weight Absorber implants to boost carry capacity, would that be reflected?>

I actually like having my weapons taken away. If I went in with all of my kick-ass gear, the DLCs wouldn't be as fun. Starting fresh is always better than maintaining the status quo of being practically undefeatable.

If i had to guess I would say that depending on which difficulty you're playing the weight limit would be different. so if you're playing normal you can only carry half your weight and if you can carry 100g then you can only bring 50g. Or it could be that the caravan guys want you to carry stuff that would make you over weight and if you didn't want to walk slowly for 15 minutes you would either ditch some of your stuff or speech check somebody else into taking the stuff.

I found the Holorifle to be considerably underpowered vs. the YCS/186 and Veronica is happier with a Ballistic Fist. Taking away one's stuff is lazy programing so was the pseudo-slave collar.

It's a bit annoying, but understandable in a way. They don't know how long you're going to wait before heading in, so with the right gear it can end up being a cakewalk. I like their new idea for a weight limit. That at least brings some thought into it. Hell, I love the new weight management idea.

Although it was roundly decried in Oblivion I think leveling enemies makes sense for DLC.

Its a completly legitimate design choice, has nothing to do with programming and the enemies/challenge has to be balanced anyway. So, theres absolutly nothing "lazy" about it.

Furthermore leveling enemies is horrible and actually the "lazy" way here.

I wouldn't mind seeing a DLC that allows you an option based on a prompt... either take your stuff and face everything at a higher difficulty, or allow your stuff to be taken and be given a bit of a break on the difficulty.

Ultimately, I think if someone wants to walk in with fully repaired power armor and a Gauss Rifle or whatever super-powered weaponry they want, let them. Who cares if they complain if it's too easy, there's no refunds, they spent their $10, and really with the way these DLCs are being put together you're buying them for the story, putting the puzzle pieces together on the way to meeting Ulysses and all that, so it shouldn't affect people buying the rest.

That said, I'm fine with them taking my stuff as long as I get it back, I usually go into DLCs anyway with only whatever weapons and armor I need to get to the DLC entrance point, so that I have tons of room to take back whatever I loot.

I love having my weapons taken away, there is nothing that gets my blood and juices flowing more then surviving such moments. Take The Pitt for example. They take all your weapons, and leave you with a crappy outfit. One who was entering for the maximum possible dramatic impact, would enter the steel mill with little more then their fists, their wits and the rags on their back. Someone who decides to get all one hundred of the steel bars will leave that place clad in shiny metal skin , half a dozen rifles and a flamer. Not to mention all of the other random food and medical supplies you find.

I repeat, they send you in there unarmed and practically naked, and by the time you leave that place, you could potentially have enough weapons to slaughter them all. Hand in the steel, and not only have you completely cleared the mill of steel and saved possibly dozen of slave lives, you've managed to talk one of the raiders into handing over one of just two working power armoured suits to be found in the entire city. A suit that god ashur worshipped as a god, and this is before all that other random stuff and unique gear you can get. There are other more cinematic moments, and quite possibly others that are better plotted out and make slightly more sense. There is no moment more badass however, then singlehandedly clearing out the mill of all its crap.

It is lazy because they have not come up with a way of challenging players without stealing their stuff. I worked hard to get where I am and I do not like it taken away. I especially do not like to fall into traps I can see coming.

The Holorifle is meant more as a mid range weapon, and for multiple enemies. It's obvious advantages are the 4 shot magazine, and that it only shoots one MFC at a time. Basically, you get more "bang for your buck" with the Holorifle. While using Max Charge ammunition, which is 2.5 regular MFC, the Holorifle does more damage than the YCS, while still being cheaper to fire (4 cells versus 2/5). Of course, for 1v1 encounters like Lanius, and the Legendary Deathclaw, I use the YCS/186, as there's really no better weapon suited for 1v1.

As for Veronica, I though it would be better to giver her a good EW (she has the Tesla-Beaton at the moment), since I have ED-E, and we're all dressed up in Enclave gear. What kind of Enclave squad uses unarmed weapons, right? Also, she deals out much better DPS with Pushy; she doesn't meet the STR requirements for a Ballistic Fist,

Not my gear!!!

I like my stuff: Maria, Antimaterial rifle, 10mm pistol with all the mods, shotgun, cleaver, Benny's suit, metal armor.......
oh well, take my stuff i survive. But this doesn't mean i like to lose all the things i have scavenged or buyed trough the game.

No, it isn't. They have still to come up with ways to challenge players. All these things ARE ways to challenge players. Actually with all gear the balancing would nearly REQUIRE to make the enemies bullet sponges.

Scalable enemies are NOT challenging.
