Why I Hate This DLC

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:02 am

I didn't really like dead money, It was difficult and It lasted too long with no option to return, its like being trapped, but that said the story was a great Idea, they just made it too difficult an a bit too long. I'm looking forward to future DLC , in my mind dead money didn't float my boat but I'd still definitely buy future DLC.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's not start asking for short DLC, shall we? I like to get my ten bucks worth.

I don't see why people had a problem with being trapped in the Madre. It made story sense and almost all of the previous FO3 DLC were the same way: you can't leave until you finish the DLC quest. It even warns you (twice, actually, once when you start, and once when you leave the Villa for the casino itself).

I like the puzzles. The radios and Cloud were unique threats that you can't just shoot your way through.

You WERE trapped.

You had a bomb collar straqed to you're neck, and if you leave you go asplode.

Everyone FIRST complained about the game being SOOOOO easy, now it's toooo hard, also wow, you want a two hour long DLC from FO3? What the hell?
I would rather pay 10 bucks for a '10 Hours worth of DLC > 1 hour horrible DLC'

I think alot of people bought fallout because they enjoy the open world, roam where you want factor of it. And those people dont like this DLC. I dont blame them, diffrent people have diffrent tastes.

The DLC doesn't change the fact that New Vegas is a huge sandbox... It just adds a new area to it. Heck, the Sierra Madre and the surrounding villa is full of sandboxy exploration opportunities all by itself.

How many people leave a dungeon in the middle of exploring it anyway?

This is so true! Every DLC has 'trapped' you for a while and I can't imagine anyone leaving if they had the option and coming and goign as they please until the quest was complete. I wanted to do it all right there and then and find out everything I could, open every box, drink out of every toilet and all that stuff.

I don't want a less than 1 hour long DLC a 10 hour long DLC great i love getting my moneys worth, but i buy fallout games to have freedom and choices, but with a linear, story and no way to choose how to play it REALLY just seems a bit eh. If i wanted a linear game with a great story but little exploration fallout would not be a game i'd pick for this and I just wish that later DLC will be in the more traditional fallout open style. Also don't bungle me in with everyone else, I never complained about any fallout game, and i'm not complaining about dead money I'm just saying it didn't live up to my expecations, so next time read someone post properly, thank you. The story to this DLC and the new perks and level cap are all amazing and enjoyable, the gameplay is mind bogglingly annoying and is the exact opposite of what i want to do in a fallout game> I dont want to spam saves and hope i get to the next spot where my head wont blow off and i damn well better not be forced to platform in a game with such unfriendly controls for platforming. The speakers are the single worst gameplay element i have seen in a very long time, i have never wanted to throw my controller harder than when i was navigating these god forsaken hallways and their damned speaker mazes.

Personally it just sounds like your a Baby and cant take a little difficulty

Saying a negative input about somebody else for thinking differently could mean flamebait or flaming both which go against forum rules.

It's not "that" linear though, you get plenty of exploration in the DLC and while the first part is kinda linear at first, the choices you make defines what the ending result is.

7. Flaming is not allowed.

Insulting individuals or groups of members and name calling are flames. Any remark that is made to insult another member or group of members will be considered a flame and thus you may receive a warning for it.
Calling people a troll or an apologist for instance can both be considered a flame as can calling someone stupid or ADD. Attacking Xbox players, PS3 players or PC players is not allowed and calling them "console kiddies" or in anyway indicating someone is in some way a lesser person because of their choice is considered a flame here.

Hm?
Me specifically or anyone generally?

I do not know how the initiation process goes but I speculate that it involves pineapples, apple bopping, shaving, Bruce Willis and a thumb-war contest. ;)

Obviously everyone on the internet knows how to become a moderator on a forum for a company that makes video games.

Geez, Gabe, get with the program.. [/lamejoke]

In other news, I thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of Dead Money. Keep at it, Obisidan!

This DLC was very impressive But it was very annoying and frustrating at times. When I was on my way to the activating switch for the Sierra Madre Grand opening, I found myself running as fast as i could dodging the ghosts, saving ever 10 seconds to survive because I had no ammo or health. But thats one of the things that made it great. It was actually scary and intense! Something that has been missing in Fallout New Vegas. The speakers were a pain but they werent that hard to get around (they were still ridiculous) but other than that, I thouroughly enjoyed Dead Money. I was blown away by the story. My only complaints are that they took away all of my belongings for some strange reason (other than to add challenge) and that you cannot go back and explore the SIerra Madre or the VIlla. 9/10

Well, they do explain why they take away your belongings. The automated security of the casino doesn't want to allow "foreign materials" in. It's supposed to be a self-sustaining economy with the vending machines and chips.

In games like fallout and TES there is one golden rule. SAVE OFTEN. This is a good way to get people into the habbit.
And speakers are easy, listen for crackling, and shoot them. I can diasable them all easily.

Agreed :) I did save often and like this forum i thought to myself when first playing that this will be hard (not really just turn up your speakers open your eyes a little and it will be a breeze :)

Exclusivity.

It's always something.

Valid issue. Wouldn't have bought it for PC if I'd have known I'd be shafted.

You won't be shafted. It will come out eventually for your platform. Patience.

Just as a note, a moment's research will tell you that this happened for all of Fallout 3's DLC, too.
