I play in the third person. SOmething about seeing your character is too cool to pass up. I only go to first person when using a bow or searching areas.

I'll tell ya, starting 2 threads an hr is a pretty good pace to set. Don't wear yourself out.

OT : I am favored to 3rd person. Although I play both. I all but refuse to play a game that is1st only. Some are the exception but they are few.

I didn't spend all that time at the character creation screen just to look at a sword or a mace all the time. It's the same reason I don't wear a helmet or mask. Plus it's generally more enjoyable in 3rd person although I find fighting in 3rd person is difficult sometimes.

I agree about not playing games that are strictly 1st person. The reason why I didn;t like borderlands

i run around in 3. person, but i can't really get me into fighting in 3rd. person.

1. person is way better for things like blocking.

people that only hack'n'slash don't care about that, though.

Third person 95% of the time. 1st usually only when looting a large amount of containers or crowded dead mobs. I like the ability to see "behind" my character in combat so I can react to greater threats that come up from the rear. Also when exploring it cuts down on the rear ambush blitz attacks.

I prefer 3rd person as well and use it most of the time but sometimes switch to 1st person to get a better look at containers or when I need more precision aiming.

I like 1st person while im indoors, so I can more accurately pick up items. I like to play in 3rd person outdoors, makes the textures look better because you aren't face to face with everything.

I use third person all the time, except when fighting, or when there's not enough room for the camera. How am i supposed to hit the enemy when my character is blocking view of him?

That's pretty much where I am. I've slowly come to prefer 1st person when shooting arrows and using magic.

Same as most here. I use 3rd person 95% of the time because everything just looks so good. I love the combat animations and the kill cam is a smooth transition. Although, for some reason I have trouble aiming staves in 3rd person, but not the bow (unless trees or other objects...Lydia get in the camera's way. I love the fact that it's so simple to switch between views. When I am being careful to not steal, I tend to switch to 1st person so I can pick out objects that are marked 'take'.

Ist Person for me, i prefer it when you arn't able to see things coming and peer round corners! Better experience IMO

Although The GTA's are the only games i play in 3rd person and would be worse in 1st person IMHO!!

I play in first person most of the time, and exclusively when in combat, as it just feels more natural. When walking around town or in the wilderness, I may switch to third person just to see my character, but when combat starts or I enter a dungeon, it's back to first person. I also switch to third person when absorbing dragon souls.

In general, playing in first person just feels more immersive, as I see everything as my character would, and I'm not constantly looking at their back. I got used to first person while playing shooters, and when I started playing Oblivion, it was a smooth transition. I feel less like a spectator, and more like I am my character, and adventuring in Skyrim through them as if I'm some kind of ghost that posessed them.

I much prefer first person. I will occasionally check my character out in vanity mode, but would if I could choose whether to have vanity mode or a paperdoll, I would choose the paperdoll.

1st person ONLY. I won’t ever buy a game that is 3rd person exclusive, and for the life of me don’t understand why any company would make a 3rd person only game. 1st person makes me feel like I am actually in the game. I like to see what my eyes would see, not some silly camera mounted on a stick 10 feet above my back. (I’m not knocking you 3rd person types, I’m just saying it’s not for me.)

Say what? You guys are missing on on a whole lot of great games. I'm guessing you guys both play with controllers, am I right?

This guy I can agree with.

I have been playing 1st person since Wolfenstein 3D. 3rd person is fine for arcade style shoot-em ups but it's clumsy and lacks immersion.
