Professions you would like added

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:40 pm

What other professions you would see fit for your character in Skyrim?

I would like to be a sailor and/or pirate and take contracts to deliver goods and board transport ships. That would require real time sailing, of course.
An easier to implement profession that I would enjoy is cartographer/treasure hunter. Various npcs from traders to military would hire me to find uncharted places, hidden caves, natural resources on the map, giving me vague directions and paying big for hard finds. The underwater world would be much more interesting if we'd be sent to find sunken treasures.

Nautical jobs would be sweet and same with boats and islands and that kind of stuff.

You could be a trader now but it takes some RP.

The underwater combat needs to come back and then these jobs would be cool. Plus we could explore the great Sea of Ghosts on ship.

Merchant guard protecting supply wagons and bandit attacking supply wagons. One of the things I noticed on first playing the game is the distinct lack of trade wagons moving between citys villages and holds.

Prostitution hands down. At least a brothel in Riften, for Pete sake. My promiscuous Bosmer would also like to use the place to give lapdances herself to generous men.

Prostitution and farming. They've already got some of the farming animations in there. It'd be cool if we could buy a farm and have to work it, or have a spouse work it.

Sigh. I guess I kind of want a bit more sim aspects. Lame, I know.

I actually roleplayed that in Morrowind. Because crime-report mechanics didn't work and you could generally steal with impunity (from certain people, anyway). Just got the tax files, dressed up nicely, and went around taking everyone's stuff >=)

And I have no ideas. I just wish Milling had more of a point.

I actually have to agree on this. Prostitution is after all one of the oldest professions, it's always been around in all societies.
And if not that, stripping is also a possibility. There was a showbar in Morrowind, the one in Suran. And in earlier games (Arena, Daggerfall) there were hokers. You couldn't use their services, but many places said that they were indeed prosttutes.
Even Fallout had some.

Also, possibilities for us taking use of all that travelling we do. Working as a cartographer or bounty hunter would be great.

That would be so cool, unfortunately for Skyrim it's too late, if the hardware allowed this they'd have made the carriages travel in real time. Here's hope for TES VI, if it's going to be on new hardware and hopefully in a province with a lot of water (Summerset, Black Marsh) the sailing could be an important part of gameplay.

Healer

My characters have all been healers to some extent whether it's healing my own companion or the people standing around after a dragon fight or a fox with a low health bar who's showing me the way. A small fee would be nice to receive at early levels or a speech option to heal someone for free or fee. Just a little something to add to it. It wouldn't need a lot. :tes:

Lol. I used to love to mix some cyrodillic brandy, flin, and skooma and get naked with the strippers at the Suran bar.

Butcher, Baker, candlestick maker.......

seriously though, i'd like to see something like artist, sculptor etc

Courier would be good considering there are so many fetch and deliver type misc quests.

I'd also like prostitution.....but that's enough about my personal life.

 Well, it's illegal over here, so I don't know what you're talking of.

Anyway, like the other ideas. Good with options.

Hell yeah :goodjob:
I'm a pirate lover myself and I always hoped TES would allow some beautiful sailing one day... Two Worlds 2 is already doing this and it's pretty cool. Those static ships in Oblivion's harbors were depressing. Also, Bethesda published in 2003 an open world sailing RPG, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of_the_Caribbean_%28video_game%29 it's made by Akella and published by Bethesda, but I'd love to see a new sailing rpg made by BGS or at least some of these features brought into TES.

I always wondered why they added Smithing as a skill, but didn't give you the ability to make your own bows and arrows. Bowyer and Fletcher would be kind of neat.

As would be prostitution. :bunny:

But let's not hijack the thread, all right? This is about professions and jobs in generals, not just prostitution.

I read it as Spiderman.

I'd like some average jobs that NPCs already have, like:
-merchant; set up a stall, maybe even a store one day
-smith; like merchant, sell you fine arms for gold
-priest; volunteer in a temple, heal people
-farmer; grow and sell the produce, maybe buy your own farm one day
-fisher; like a small fisher's guild, fish with your friends by the lake
-hunter; like fisher, hunt with your friends, set up camp in the woods

edit: fixed to be more readable

You could have a prostitution skill tree. Imagine the perks.
  • Happy Ending - 25% chance of ****ulation
  • Contraceptive - 10 points of Resist all Diseases
  • Back Door - speaks for itself (opens up new avenues)
  • Work from Home - Can take 'business' home and start a brothel
You get the [censored]....i mean gist

Fisher, yes! I could have sworn Skyrim would feature proper real time fishing with a small fishing boat and a fishing pole...

Bard
Theres a Bard's College I can join and the game already has animations for playing instruments etc but the PC can't busk, play for their supper, serenade their intended, get pelted with rotten eggs etc.
Of course my character could be the 2nd worst bard in Skyrim. Maybe thats why the DB is after me.
