PS3 Release for Dawnguard... #34

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 7:57 pm

Progress on what? Can you post it at the top of the thread as an official statement update as you posted yourself in the pinned column?
I'm almost certain he means DLC, as that was the context of the question I asked.

Still, later on it was not confirmed this has anything do with update 1.8.

EDIT: I see summer pulled the response to my question in a quote. So you all know the full context of the question asked.

Summer, just some advice. It's good to show the question or statement made in which gstaff responded to, that way everybody knows the full context. Use the multiquote button, put gstaff timestamp code at the top, questioner timestap code after that, question, end quote, gstaff's actual response, end quote. That's how I did that above.

I actually don't do that on purpose to encourage and in hope that folks will follow the link in the quotes and read the whole thread since theres always a chance Gstaff might post again in the thread after those posts. It always behooves one to follow the link in quoted material to get a better grasp on what other members might be thinking about it all. Sorry, but I sure have no problem with you bringing it here. Just seemed if anyone was at all interested they would not mind following the link and it saves me time to boot. :)
Was anything wrote about when?

I'll share dates when I have dates to share. Anything other than that would be speculative, and I don't want to do that.

Soon and that it was for the other specified platforms. I assume this will be after Dragonborn though. We'll see.

Sorry, I didn't see a link in your post? Maybe I'm just blind or my cursor isn't highlighting it. Or I'm missing the link somewhere else?

Either way, I completely understand and agree that's a good approach.

I'll only buy new content for the PS3 after waiting a month or two to make sure nobody's game has died because of it. Even if it's free, which I realize is quite far-fetched. :)

Still, I admit that these announcements have left me feeling a bit more optimistic. Though I will still not be buying any new titles with Bethesda's name on it for a few years, if ever. I made that decision when I found the vanilla game so broken at release.

Hmmm, I dare to ask who would buy these PS3 add-on content, whatever it is, with the game broken as it is? I mean really come on, whats the point? Play Dawnguard as if it was a photo slideshow? Take the same amount of time to build a house in-game that you would in real life? Just my personal input on it, anyone is free to waste money as they please.

When someone is quoted there is a little twirly icon thing in the upper left corner of the quote. That is a link to the quoted content. Click it and be transported to the post. Seems most don't know about it or aren't following it because I can tell nobody is going to that thread to read all that was posted in there as evidenced by the question below. So this time, I took the time to follow your suggestion.

Hey Gstaff, any updates on when we might expect patch 1.8??

It's still in the works for 360 and PS3. No set release date.

It's quite nice to be of actual assistance and helpful in this thread for once instead of being seen as a nasty mean person here to ruin all your fun and make you mad.

I truly hope that this is the dlc's that you have all been waiting for and the already announce DLC for pc. I love when our entire community are happy and we are all playing the same games and content. It makes the forum a better place though...I know, no matter what not everyone will ever all be happy at the same time.

I know I've suggested games in the mean time to keep people busy, until something is annouced, And well..I guess this an annoucement? but I'll advetise the crap out of the Okami HD on PSN, <.<; okami happens to be one my all time favioute games next to god of war.

Speak for yourself. A solid minority of PS3 owners have Solid State Drives in their console, making the Skyrim experience far superior to anything you could experience on Xbox. I can't even imagine waiting 45 seconds to a minute for one loading screen to pass.

Give us Dawnguard please.

I think the matter that PS3 owners are FINALLY getting DLC is a matter to rejoice, downtrodded seemingly ignored and shoved aside and ostrasized(by some) they(myself included) get good news FINALLY. This being said I think that there's a few principals which must be addressed.

1. While some like it some didn't, ps3 owners feel.. left out by being denied dawnguard and hearthfires due to performance issues which Bethesda took the fall for. We still want dawnguard, Hearthfires, Dragonborn and future dlc this is a given. This I think in some way we kinda -should- be given because the other two got to enjoy them and like with oblivion PS3 owners missed out on some nice player homes. Horse armor jokes aside. A special DLC of some sort for ps3 owners that for a 30 day period(or permenant) would be nice as well. Because afterall the ball was dropped and the demographic's been put in a very well... crappy place and some may have actually walked away indefinitely. So keeping ps3 owners current with dlc is very welcome and a couple bonus things would be nice cause really? The wait's one thing, but the fact it's because the "porting" wasn't done up to what an acceptable level should be are the prime directives as well as the fact that there WAS no news. Which leads me to the next point.

2. Communication: This is where the biggest rage I think went.. there was no real news or details, people were questioning things, possible to the point even the board's investors were starting to question what was going on. Keeping your consumer base in the know(as much as you're allowed without tipping off competition and violating NDA's) will keep them reasonably happy and at least understand what's going on. Plus there are people out there who do know how to program proficiently and maybe able to help for minimal pay or even for free just to help... the latter is unlikely but anyone with experience to the problem at hand would be welcome to help I am sure.

3. For future games with multiple platforms, I'd say we need a team say from sony or those who are trained and knowledgable in how to code for the other systems which will make transitions much easier.

There's more, but this is coming more from my experience in college than it is as a gamer. As a gamer? I want the dlc's we lost out on AND the special one for PS3... for PC? I have no idea what you folks could possibly send our way that would appease us in the sense of "being left out" or something... we met transition times quite quickly after those 30 days... so I'm at a loss there(maybe spellmaking coming back?)... PS3 however and as a PS3 gamer I'd like to say something small and worthwhile would be nice.... while horse armor and mounted combat IS a given combination(and really it'd be likely to armor your horse if you're gonna fight on them) Something substantial would be awesome.

I never held it against you or the other mods. You guys are all just trying to do your jobs.

I hope today's announcement is the beginning of the end for these kinds of threads and we can all just go back to having fun with the game. I'm not blinded by that hope, and I still assume the worst at this point, but I really do want to be more optimistic about things from here on out.

I feel very happy about the news. We could be getting something after all. However, I don't think that I should be so hopeful. I'm trying to get back to being a bit pessimistic so I don't fall too hard with disappointment in case it doesn't work out. I'm growing tired of getting my hopes up just to be shot down again. The tweet was still vague. :ermm:

Most of your post has nothing to do with me. I'm just a member like you who volunteers to take on the job of moderating this forum so it remains neat and tidy and free of flames and bickering and backstabbing and porm and spam and within all of the written rules of the forum. While I may agree with you, I don't represent the opinions of the company and I can do nothing to change what they do or don't do. Moderators don't work for Bethesda, we volunteer for this forum.

I understand that but you have a little more clout being a moderator that they trust to handle the chaos that is the forum. So it coming from a moderator they may listen a little bit more. In any event it just would be nice to see what the others have and it not become like Oblivion.

Ok, Rohough.... As this is clearly a passion (or sorts) for you, to help out a game company (respect, not sarcasm). How can you HONESTLY say "Oh for goodness sake - over exaggeration much? It's a game!", I mean, that is SUCH an [censored] statement..... Why doesn't Bethesada just make a god damned statement? IT'S JUST A GAME! These are NOT games, these are hobbies, escapes. These are things that i have poured COUNTLESS man hours into, things that i spent MONEY on...... These are NOT games.
Because your acting like it's the rapture, it's a few pixels on a screen your family wasn't killed by an army of sociopaths. Anyways I know where Rohough is coming from as I was a global moderator for Techno Buffalo's Minecraft server and a forum mod for runescape for a few years, yes your angry but venting your anger at the DMV clerk because the government deems you not fit for a license is illogical and creates drama. Yes you didn't get your "dlc fix" but you clearly have been playing to much into the game to the point where the game is reality to you and are showing signs of dissociative issues and before you say this is the worse thing in gaming history two letters -> ET: it almost crashed the gaming industry if it did there'd be no gameboy,ps3,xbox 360 because it would have tanked the industry. So before you start venting at a moderator because they decide to organize this anarchy into a orderly fashion of debate and discussion please remember they are people who volunteer they are not employees of Bethesda or given access to their top development of their products.

Also for those of you who where "I want a refund", "Once you open a software product from it's casing to use it the company does not have to take it back whatsoever, unless their is a physical issue with the cd itself or dvd-rw" Thank You and have a nice day.

Also Kudos to Rohough, your one of the best mods I've seen out their putting up with this drivel.
