Question for roleplayers

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 9:15 am

By roleplayers I mean who eat, sleep, get married, decorate homes, believe their character has some sort deep connection with other characters in the game.

I'm just wondering why do you bother playing skyrim? Isn't Sims a better game for you? Sims has all the things you want but non of the stuff you are not interested in. ie Forums are filled with "I want to make my own home", "I want to adopt children", "Khajiit are cute" etc. but almost no threads about "Hey I want not too broken AI", "I want challenging combat, not that buff enemy hp, debuff my hp", "Hey beth could we have a game were we aren't demigods?"

I'm not trying to offend anybody here but wouldn't Sims simply be a better game for you. It even has an expansion with a fantasy setting.

And I also roleplay, infact I roleplay all of my games even the non rpg games.

It's the world. Elder Scrolls' universe is unique, full of action and adventure, and all those roleplaying aspects serve to make that experience all the more real.

Because Why not?

I agree Sims is the best RPing medium out there Game wise, you can chalk up all kinds of running stories. but TES in general gives a more direct control, a More....YOU than Sims would offer (I do not stomp involuntarily when my pathing is blocked)

Also the setting TES offers isn't available in the Sims ;p

Roleplaying can be whatever the player wants it to be. If people want to simulate every day life as close to reality as possible, wheres the problem?

Who the hell would WANT to be a sims character? Talk about boring.

You roleplay Skyrim becuse you would want to try out being one of the chars you can end up with in Skyrim, you sure as hell dont feel the same roleplaying a sims char...

Question for thread creator. Why would you play a RPG = ROLE PLAYING GAME, when you dont want to role play?

There is no problem. I'm just wondering why people want play skyrim when it doesn't have or has extremely poor gameplay mechanics for them.

i think there might be a misunderstanding. 1. not all roleplayers have problems with skyrim only some
2. not all roleplayers like sims.
(personally i hate it. its extreamly boring)

My question to you: Can you read?

Yes, either i missed the "i roleplay too" or it was part of your edit "Edited by illuknisaa, Today, 08:08 PM." and i read the thread before that.

Yes.

I smell copyright infringement. :o

Games that allow Nirn to be re-reacted through user-generated content are nice, but it's much easier to simply play the games themselves. Certainly, I had started a TES fan game project in order to accomplish my goal of building the whole of Tamriel with multiplayer. But just a few days afterward, TES:O was announced and I quit, saving my scripts for future projects.

Really? You're really not trying to start a [censored]storm?

This.

First of all, I have no problem with the gameplay mechanics and the complaints about gameplay mechanics come from a minority. Secondly, comparing a fantasy RPG like TES to a pure sandbox like The Sims is not at all a valid comparison. People who love The Sims are not always going to enjoy the game-style of TES and vice versa. The Sims does not provide the back story and lore of TES. Troll away though...

(the fantasy version of sims doesnt even compare to games like elderscrolls and fallout)

There are no first person fantasy rpg game that does it better (in my opinion). A sims like game where you cant realy control how the characters does things and with no control whatsoever what you say, that forces you view it all from above will never be a good roleplaying game for me, i dont want a "strategy roleplay". I hade some great fun rpg'ing in "the specialists" (Half life mod) and "garrys mod" for a while but the circles i roleplayed in slowly died out in those games.

So you are fine with this?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHbF9ynGZV0
So you are fine with melee combat that requires you to press 1 button inorder to win?
So you are fine with magic being gimped on higher levels?
So you are fine with complete lack of challenge in comabt?

All of the above represent the major part of the game (I could even say that the entire game is focused on things above).

Okey.

1. Try using a blade as a assasin if you want more of a challenge. (A Archer assasin is just LOL, they should realy make it harder)
2. Make sure to set it at the highest difficulty and dont use exploits or combos that make the game to easy (smithing/enchanting/alchemy, all 3 togheter, even without the exploit).
3. Alchemy! Fortify destruction POTIONS increase the damage. (Enchantments just decrease the cost).
4. Se 1-3.

The game is as challenging as you make it, just becuse you CAN roflstomp everything dosent mean you have too.

Lol Sad OP is indeed sad.

It's perfectly possible to RP in Skyrim. Could it do with improvements? Most definitely, but it certainly shouldn't nor could it fullfill everybody's requirements.

And yes, yes I RP, my characters have back stories, character restrictions, weight restrictions Etcetras. Hell I only wish my PC could run it, I'd have a field day with mods.

Nice troll attempt OP, now shuffle on to the next forum.
