It was a big let down for me. At first. I loved Oblivion and what I wanted was Oblivion with a different story and setting and 2011 graphics. Stupidly, I expected that and was excited about getting that. But then the nature of Skyrim was too different from Oblivion, and it infuriated me for a couple of weeks whenever I'd try to play for a few minutes, I'd quit. They tried to fix something that wasn't broken (imo).
But now I love it. One of the greatest games ever. I play it all day.
Sure, I see flaws compared with other games, especially Bethesda games, but I see flaws with any given game, when comparing it with another given game. Nothing is perfect. "Perfect" is a subjective, mathematical abstract that can't exist in the real world. And this game is FUN. What's "wrong" with it, doesn't out weight what's great about it. To me anyway.
So yeah, I expected and hoped for something different, but wound up loving what I had gotten anyway. Wish that happened more often in life
