Roleplayers: I am trying to survive.

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 3:56 pm

Funny you should ask since that was the first thing I sought when I set off to find the Snow Wraith.

However, I knew of MANY companions that I could have used for this quest, BUT the playthrough that I was doing demanded that I play as if it was MYSELF, which meant that I did NOT know where they were nor who they or even if they COULD be used as companions.

So to get a companion I would either need 500 gold or stay around in an area long enough to sincerely care enough about someone to do their quest. It is a long process.

Gotcha. I misunderstood. :)

Both. When I was drinking RL, I had to in game. When I had to use bathroom RL, I did so in game. When I was hungry RL, I postponed it because I did not want to ruin my buzz.

You could really play/live this game day to day, if you wanted to.

that was what i wanted to make sure. that if you were drinking in RL, your character was too. Excellent work.

I almost keeled over laughing. Glad I am not the only thorough one roleplaying this game. I will probably stop by the liquor store soon so I can resupply and start my new adventure.

Reminds me of the adventures of Nordrick. You can read it here:

or Nondrick in Oblivion:

So the real story was that you were drunk, somehow slipped and weren't quick enough to avoid that ice trap. Too much mead is good enough for chilly nights, but rarely good when you venture outside home.

 Something to keep in mind IRL too!! Watch out for those ice traps on the way to the liquor store.

This is indeed a nice read as well. One of these days I will try something similar. Should be fun, at least at the beginning. :)

ive thought about doing this. tho for me, if it was me in a ancient styled time with sword and sorcery, i wouldnt be able to stay home and live out a normal life, and id be too free willed to enlist in a army or anything, so id probably become a adventurer or maybe even a thug of some kind.

id wear light armor...because honestly the heavy stuff is sooo impractical. for weaponry, bow is a definite, after that probably a axe as itd be simpler to use then a sword and would be effective against more types of enemies, itd probably be a twohanded axe cuz ive never been good at the blocking thing (yes i have RL experience to back this) as well as taking advantage of my higher then avg strength.

id probably be a bit wild in a fight, swinging frantically and fiercely hoping to make up for skill, tho id be patient with the sneaking.

far as skills, sneaking (i always seem to sneak up on people without trying), twohander (feels natural to me), light armor, archery (i bow hunt in real life).

after that, id probably not develop as much as people would think from magic, a wonder, but something id probably be afraid to mess with. but potions, oh id have a thing for them.

enchanting/smithing are arts id probably not be for, tho id respect a good blacksmith.

im good at telling people what they want to hear, too bad speech svcks in this game.

So let me get this straight...a dragon attacks and you don't want to change into armor in front of another person?

I agree.

If I was in a dangerous situation which meant I might have to get naked to survive, my clothes would come right off!

Seriously in real life you`d realise that it`s better to be naked than dead.

I guess the fight or flight instinct would kick in? I would have been dead by then anyway, dropped dead of fright!

I don`t think anyone would really have time to change. Medieval armour was difficult to get into quickly. You either wore it all the time or not, so yea, a guy would probably run away, maybe get space and change later...

Or wear the armour whenever outside.

This is a cool idea. I enjoyed reading it a lot.
Agreed. Sort of like a blog

THIS game play through made me REALLY APPRECIATE food. Seriously. When you cannot use potions, I ate food ALL THE TIME.

IT is expensive though. Even making it yourself, still expensive. Reason why I had only 1 GOLD.

No actually. I just... for some reason... found myself eating in the morning, afternoon and at suppertime. Not sure why, it just felt natural.

Anyways, I am back and am starting my new file RIGHT NOW!
Wish me luck.

I laughed my behind off. My thoughts exactly. I'd put on armor in front of twenty dudes if there was a frickin dragon nuking the place. And you know what? I bet every one of them would be too preoccupied with said dragon to notice a naked chick.

Alright so started next game as my main hero's son. Lots to tell about.

Last game was Nord because, well IRL I am more Nordish than anything else. But he died. So his son is *roleplay* half Nord, half Imperial because I have the hots for Imperial ladies.

Anyways. So I start my game as Imperial with the idea that I came to Skyrim to find my father, A.K.A. my main hero. Get caught by Legion, they try to cut my head off because they don't know how to do any better.

I escape with Hadvar AGAIN, grab a war axe because it seemed to rub me the right way this time and a shield. We fight stormcloaks, kill some, I get chased by two of them with LARGE claymores. For some reason they are fanatical about it, they will not stop to address any other threat except me. So given that knowledge, I flee like a coward until I find the torturer. He assists me in distracting one of the two fanatics. With that, I turn and begin fighting for survival, brutal fight, almost die, but I win. I take his axe as new weapon.

This time I tried to face the spiders. I got into their lair and lasted about 2 seconds longer than my previous character, before I sheath my weapon and flee for my life. I ditch Hadvar, AGAIN (yeesh he must hate me by now) and I escape.

Along the road Hadvar says we should split and meet at Riverwood. I say,"Well, ok. If that is what you want." Then proceed... only to find him standing there staring at me. I walk towards him, he takes 3 more steps then turns and stares again. I get creeped out and decide to take a random left into the wilderness.

I casually walk through the forest until I hear a buzzing noise. I look and realize it is a bee.

Now, I just want to pause the story to let you guys know that IRL, I am terrified of bees. Much like spiders. Well, almost exactly like spiders.

So naturally, I take out my axe and start swinging at the bee, it is useless. I come to my senses and realize it probably won't hurt me. So I press on, but the buzzing gets louder. Now I hear it coming from EVERYWHERE. I do not play with music so I can hear all the awesome details.

It is really handy when you walk into an area that is right next to a BEE HIVE and you are now SWARMED by BEEES!

Needless to say, I screamed.

So the reason I am knee deep in bees right now is because on the other side is a fire and what looks to be a camp. I need to get there so I can have a place to sleep when the night comes in game.

I sprint out of the bee swarm, then sneak around them and infiltrate the camp. I chill out a little, eat some rabbit and pheasent on the rack and decide to look through the things there, thinking that the previous owners are either:

A.) Hunter

or

B.) Are dead

Then it hits me, I need to use the bathroom. For roleplay sake, I find a bucket that is sort of secluded from the camp and figure that is prolly the "bathroom".

I don't know if you guys have ever had to poop in a bucket with BEES 5 feet away, but it is terrifying.
Anyways.
What I did not take into consideration until it was too late was that this camp, may in fact belong to a group of bandits. 3 ,in fact, and they were not happy to see me squatting on their homemade bench.

So, with my pants down, I rocketed off, through the bees, into the wilderness.

Night falls now. Just great. Thought I had my bed for the night secured. *sigh* So I just keep walking. I walk and walk along this poorly stoned path. Meet a hunter who I thought was a bandit, sneak behind her until I realize she is not hostile.

She sells me some rabbit legs, we are now besties.

This was an enjoyable read. While not nearly as difficult or in-depth as what you did, I thought about doing a play through without stealing or looting anything and only making money through good ol' fashioned hard work (hunting, chopping wood, etc.). Playing as a purely "good" character is much more interesting.

So I keep walking along this path, hoping to find SOME kind of civilization. At this point, jungle fever is kicking in. Every sound, every shadow, is driving me insane. I am jumping at everything.

I slowly trudge this path until I hear a shambling in the forest. I look around expecting to see a fox. What do I get?

A SKELETON.

The next few moments happened so fast I can barely recollect using any form of higher cognitive intelligence. It was all instinct.

Skeleton comes at me, at about 100 mph. Before I can even turn and run, he is in my face. So I did the next best thing my brain could force me to do.

I swing my axe as hard as I can at this walking bone structure as it barrels towards me. I hit this bastard so hard, he stumbles back 3 steps. Even with a sword AND shield, my axe got through his computer generated reflexes.

GUESS what happened next. Do it, I dare you.

Your'e right. I ran. I ran my ass off. I ran until I could not run anymore. I ran until I accidentally rolled into Falkreath.

Thank the divines. I honestly thought I was heading back to the Skyrim/ Cyrodiil border. Phew, lucky me. Well I made it to my first town in 1 piece. Bought a room at the tavern and some food and ale. With only 25 gold though, I think I will be in Falk for a while. We shall see what happens!

I tried this. It is taxing. Mainly because it is boring as hell.

HOWEVER, I did find a way to smith Iron weapons from scratch, then enchant them and sell them back to the Whiterun markets for around double the cost it took to make them.

Legit AND makes you wealthy. Win /Win.
