Roleplayers: I am trying to survive.

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 8:18 am

So I recently started a game where I would play as "me". That is, my character looks like me, I act the way I would, I play DiD, I play with Master difficulty, I try to survive and make my own destiny the best I can.

So given that information, I decided to at least let anybody know where I am and how I am doing.

Life is tough. A saying we use in real life and I now use in Skyrim. Money is scarce, quests are scarce since I do not want to risk my life finding treasure that may result in my death. Plus I must play as if this is my first playthrough, which makes it REALLY hard. Since I know I can make easy gold doing quest X or doing quest Y, but I must roleplay and not break my character, which is me.

So I cannot make gold based off of what I already know. Cannot recruit companions because IRL I wouldn't EVER talk to these people, etc.

So I started in Helgen, dragon attacks, etc. Hadvar lets me free and I pick up an Imperial helmet and boots. Not the armor since I did not want to change in FRONT of Hadvar. So we continue on and find Stormcloaks. I expect Hadvar to talk our way out of this potential conflict. He fails and we have to fight. I picked up two Imperial swords because, that is what I would do IRL. We slash our way through lots of Stormcloaks. I see spiders and I run, do NOT fight, but RUN. I am scared of them IRL, so I ditch Hadvar, I sneak past bear, IRL I am good at that, then I escape.

After Helgen I need to find my way to Riverwood without map or compass. Hard as hell. I stumble through the woods before I accidentally see houses. I saw a hunter before this, but he did not know where Riverwood was either so I had to ignore him.

I see houses and I find Riverwood. We talk to Hadvar's family, this and that, I take what supplies I CAN carry. It was like a few carrots and an apple. Also I refuse to use potions.

So after that I make my way to Whiterun and alert that Jarl that Riverwood is in danger. He gives me Imperial armor. I sell it along with other stuff. I walk buy Heimskr who convinces me that the empire svcks and that I Should join Stormcloaks. I get tavern room and sleep it off before I decide. Wake up have breakfast with Heimskr then decide to join Stormcloaks.

"20 gold to go to Windhelm."

"I got 6."

"Then you aint goin to Windhelm."

So I forage around, find some apples, sell them, now I have enough to go to WINDHELM.

I travel by carriage, then get a room at some Tavern, sleep there a night then go to see Ulfric in the morning.

I walk in and listen to Ulfric make speech to bear man Galmar or whatever.

Then I need to pee, I walk outside, find isolated rocks and do my business.

I return and talk to Uflric, he says,"Talk to man bear, he gives you quests."

I talk to man bear, he says,"You must kill Snow wraith, before I know you are useful."

Now I am scared, I know Snow Wraiths are dangerous, but I have no way to kill it.

I have Belted Tunic, Imperial sword, Shield and Imperial boots, no pots, no companion.

I have 1 gold, so I Cannot buy ANYTHING.

So what do I do? It look like I must march alone against Winter Overlord Snow Wraith solo.

I scared.

... I am so terribly saddened by upcoming events.

On my way to the Snow Wraith throne I was...

Killed by a ... really.... random ice trap, I saw it at the last moment, just as I was sneaking towards it.

It killed me, it did not just INJURE me but was actually FATAL,

Yes, by the time I responded, I was already dead.

I do not know what to believe, whether Talos abandoned me, or it was an act of Fate.

I will never know. All I do know is I was killed before I could even joined the Stormcloaks.

I've tried playing as myself in RPGs before. I always end up bored to tears, lol.

Out of curiosity, why would you not talk to companions to recruit them? You that antisocial IRL? :P

Oh, I'm really sorry that your journey ended...It was a funny read.
If I would try to play myself in Skyrim I don't think I would get so far. I would probably freeze out of fear in that tower that you first enter. Or, if I would manage out of Helgen, I would probably spend the rest of my days picking crops, maybe learning to smith from a kind soul that would take pity on me...stuff like that.
But if I would go out to fight, I would definitely get one ore more companions, I really don't like being alone.

Funny you should ask since that was the first thing I sought when I set off to find the Snow Wraith.

However, I knew of MANY companions that I could have used for this quest, BUT the playthrough that I was doing demanded that I play as if it was MYSELF, which meant that I did NOT know where they were nor who they or even if they COULD be used as companions.

So to get a companion I would either need 500 gold or stay around in an area long enough to sincerely care enough about someone to do their quest. It is a long process.

I am thinking of having another play through, based off my main character. I will prolly make this play through about the main hero's son.

Just restart anew, as if it were my son or something.

Same play style and parameters, just make it my son and see what happens.

Should be interesting.

THIS game play through made me REALLY APPRECIATE food. Seriously. When you cannot use potions, I ate food ALL THE TIME.

IT is expensive though. Even making it yourself, still expensive. Reason why I had only 1 GOLD.

While I'm sorry for your untimely demise, I must thank you for what sounds like an amazing roleplay idea.

I'm going to try this on my next game. :bunny:

My favorite part was where you ran from the giant spiders. I'd rather face the dragon.

This bit made me laugh. I always play as me, but not to that extent.

Rest of it is well written and readable.

p.s. You need to find a mine and literally work, or help cut wood for someone. just ask around until you get enough money.

Yeah, the hunters will never know where Riverwood (or any other city) is.

Maybe you could start with a lower difficulty?

Very nice reading, thanks for that.

I severely enjoyed your guy's responses. This gameplay style is VERY different than vanilla Skyrim, by far.

I Am going to be very honest with you all. I blame myself for my death. I was drinking quite heavily when I started this play through and I believe that if I had not been as intoxicated as I was, I may have seen that blatant glowing white trap in front of me.

I am not deterred however. I will make another play through dedicated to my first champion AND HE WILL SUCCEED.

Exactly how I will portray my son is FAR beyond me, but I will attempt it none the less.

You were drinking in RL, or your character had too much mead?

The promise of glory in war was far too tempting for me. I thought about just chopping wood or maybe foraging for a living, but going into epic battles, I just could not resist!

Both. When I was drinking RL, I had to in game. When I had to use bathroom RL, I did so in game. When I was hungry RL, I postponed it because I did not want to ruin my buzz.

You could really play/live this game day to day, if you wanted to.

If I played as me I'd be a mage and a pretty good one I'd spend a lot of time reading all the books and all. then I'd write books and use the gold from that to buy a house and get a companion who I'd hire to clear out dungeons for me so I could go in and do research. Then I'd probably move to some other province after capturing dragons with magic to have conversations with them. I'd also probably Invent more spells...
