roleplaying killed my orc

What the OP didn't mention is that this is the 4th time he has roleplayed his DID village idiot orc. The first one stabbed himself in the eye with a spoon while eating, the second died peeing on a storm rune, and the third couldn't figure out how to escape Helgen.

I think that anyone ~trained~ in the use of armor, and wearing it near deep water would be acutely aware of the risk and prepared for it. Realistically they would not even need to get all of it off, just enough of it; but the game does not support that. Not everyone panics either; though if Skyrim had stats like any proper RPG (IMO), there could have been a stat check to see if they did panic, (and perform actions under penalties).

nope. too rpg-like and not player-based enough. attributes? too in-depth and complex. not accessible enough.

so i recently roleplayed a dead is dead illiterate orc, with the hud off, no missions, no fast travel, just wandering around murdering helpless beasts, and trying to learn the landmarks by sight. when i got to the north shore and was jumping across the floating ice sheets to get to a cave on another island.
suddenly, i missed one and fell in.
it seemed appropriate that once i hit the water, i made my stupid orc sink to the bottom and die.

so, im just wonering if any one else has roleplayed that armor is too heavy to swim in?

or if anyone has had a similiar situation where how they are roleplaying has significantly hurt their character, in a split second decision.

Well, it wasn't a split second decision, but after my mage saved the world, and had gone through 160 hours of fighting and watching her followers and horses die, it made her go mad. I jumped her off a tall mountain...suicide. And that was that.

I don't think I've ever had roleplaying actually kill my character, but it sure can be detrimental at times. I never realized just how much of my gold was coming from looting the equipment off dead bodies until I started setting my carry weight really low because I find it unrealistic to be able to come out of a dungeon hauling five or six full sets of heavy armor, a dozen greatswords, several large shields, etc. A lot of money comes from selling potions, too, which became apparent when I started playing a character who thinks alchemy is a waste of time.

. . . So you were roleplaying a mentaly handicapped Orc that slipped into the water and drowned? That is truely the most funniest thing I have ever read!

This really has made my day!

I havent done anything like this in TES as such, but in Fallout/Arcanum/PS:T i frequently like to play characters who are not remotely strong, but have a grandiose sense of self worth, as well as genuinely feeling they are significantly stronger than they are. This means that anything my character could take as a personal affront results in some sort of fight. Its very amusing, but can be detrimental to my characters health.

*Gestures towards the sun light*

You lads need some...

I think you need a life. How does role playing equal not getting enough sunlight? Did you even think this through?
