Is it safe to eat Frozen Food ?

Post » Wed Oct 05, 2011 10:42 am

Can someone explain why it's bad for you? And how does cooking/heating it up make it safe?
Weird. I was pondering over this the other day.

Because there may be bacteria floating around the meat cooking to the proper temperature should kill them.

Just look up what happened to the woman that ate raw cookie dough..

No. It could give you frostbite or break your teeth. Defrost first. ;)
And cook it,

It could..give you frostbite? You know what frostbite is, right?
Frostbite is a defense mechanism within your own body to pull heat from your fingers and toes into your chest cavity to protect your organs once your body temperature goes below normal. That's why you get frostbite in frozen environments. I don't see how this would be achieved by eating something frozen. O.o

Frostbite is the formation of ice crystals in your body's tissue that leads to permanent damage.

Shivering is a defense mechanism.

Contrary to what people have stated, frozen food is actually very healthy for you. It tastes best when the compound CN- (Cyanide) is added to the food.

Yep. The Cyanide neutralizes the germs that make frozen food harmful and adds a sweet sugary taste. It's what they put in slushies and ice cream.

I eat food for the taste, not just because I must eat. I'd never eat frozen stuff, even if it was healthy. :homestar:

Frost bite CAN be caused by your internal organs in your chest cavity drawing out heat from the bodies arms and legs to keep the organs from freezing.

Yes, freezing your hand individually will cause the same effect. But when your bodies temperature gets so low, it starts drawing in heat from the non essential parts of your body so the essential parts (organs) do not freeze.

Frozen peas and frozen blueberries are awesome.

Pretty much anything that's been processed has been cooked already (hot dogs, nuggets, etc.)

Another great guideline is that if it sends you running for the can for the next two weeks like you've eaten a burrito from a roadside vendor in TJ, chances are..

You shoulda cooked it

NEVER eat frozen food (unless stated otherwise), salmonella is a nasty little bacteria and can lead to food poisoning, always cook it first

If you are hungry and lazy and your first idea is to raid the freezer, I question the contents of your cupboards and fridge. May I suggest you go shopping and fill these with tastier quick bites :P

Methinks you should cook frozen food. Well except ice cream.

Which then allows frostbite to set in and the crystals form in your skin and the tissue starts to die. You're both right.

Anyways, yea, frozen food. I wouldn't eat it even if it is precooked doesn't mean there isn't some harmful bacteria on/in it.

Walmart tends to leave their frozen food out a couple of hours when they restock.
