Back on July the 12th, 2011, I made these replies to a similar thread. I stand by the the points, if not the condescending tone.
"Looks like I have to say this yet again. Try speed forgetting something. Can't be done.
I would like to learn to make the perfect mille feuille. Maybe I will learn it if I forget how to play rasgueados. Oh, wait, that doesn't make a word of sense. Looks like I will have to stick with what I already know, and learn the hard way. "
"And this addresses the 'magic artefact that changes your perks' idea. Why not change your skills, and while we are at it, your race. After all, it's magic. "
"Choices and consequences. I'm going to say that again. Choices and consequences. If a role playing gam doesn't have these, then may I suggest you have been short changed.
DA:O was on the right track with the Dalish/werewolf, mages/templars, and Dwarven succession plot points, then allowed you to re spec your skills and attributes in Awakening, making a mockery of all your character development decisions in the main game. You made a lot of choices regarding your character, then suddenly they didn't matter. Do you what they call it when something like that is introduced to a game? That's right, dumbing down. "
