Shouts in the Elderscrolls six?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 4:03 pm

I doubt we'll be Dragonborn again(atleast I hope not), but I doubt Bethesda would remove the shout mechanic right after adding it.
Also if dragons will be a main part of the world, then its plausible that we can still learn from them, only it would be difficult than in this game.

I may dislike being Dragonborn, but I still love shouts, and hope they remain a part of TES.

I'm just wondering what people think of this.

I think it's a bit too early to be thinking of a new elder scroll
But I think Bethesda would find some way to implement shouts again due to their popularity

I wouldn't mind having them back as long as they don't get rid of magic spells becasue of it. Didn't they get rid of some in Skyrim because of the shouts? Also I want to have a perk tree for the shouts to.

Nah not really. Leave them in Skyrim. Also only the Dragonborn, Ulfric and the Greybeards can actually shout, so it's a bit unrealistic to have people being able to shout regardless of race in the next ES title, wherever it's set.

Hopefully Hammerfell, Elder Scrolls in the desert.

Or Black Marsh.

I wouldn't be surprised if they left the shout system out. Look at all the stuff from previous games that have been cut. If the effects return they will probably become spells.

Get rid of shouts, and move the unique effects (faster movement, slow-time, etc) over to magic. Mages should have those toys, not warriors or thiefs. Magic has been reduced to bare bones as it is since Morrowind.

They only played a central part to Skyrim's plot so it wouldn't make sense elsewhere. Each Elder Scrolls game has had us play as a different hero. In Arena we were the Eternal Champion, in Daggerfall we were the Emporer's champion, In Morrowind we were the Neravarine, the Champion of Cyrodiil in Oblivion, and the Dovahkiin in Skyrim. The next Elder Scrolls will likely have us (those doing the main quest mostly) playing as a different hero.

Anything else but the desert. I know they are both 2 completely different games. But if an Elder Scrolls game took place in one. It would feel like Fallout to me. Also a desert really wouldn't have that much wild life running around and you wouldn't have areas like the ones we see in the current Elder Scrolls games. You would mainly be seeing sand the whole time.

I want perk tree's for shouts as well, and by no means do I want them to get rid of magic. I still want them to add lots of spells.

Shouts should remain different from traditional spells. Spells should have more variety than shouts, easier to learn, and able to be used far more often(magicka).

While shouts should be powerful, very difficult to learn, but have no cost, except for cooldown.

But Dragons are still around, and I don't doubt that there would be some dragons who would teach mortals the way of the voice. Either for sake of teaching, or to help further their own goals.

Malevolent, or benevolent.

Also it would be cool if Dragons took a liking to Argonians since they look alike.

Bethesda aren't making the MMO. However I imagine Fallout 4 is being worked on first. Can't wait to see what Bethesda do with the added power of the new generation of consoles, I really hope they are a lot more powerful.

I doubt they would be in it, and if they were it would be a completely different mechanic (no absorbing souls/words).

So when, The Elder Scrolls 6: Hammerfell comes out I doubt we'll see shouts

Yes it would, giant scorpions and the like. Hammerfell would have a totally different ecosystem. There would also be oasises with water and trees and stuff and the coastal towns would have vegetation around them. I think it would be really awesome, stumbling into ancient sand filled crypts in the middle of the desert as the sun bakes the ground above you. Occasional sand storms completely blocking your vision.

I don't think you should be able to absorb souls and use them to learn shouts if you are not Dragonborn, since that is what it means to be Dragonborn.

I guess they could have the option to spend many years studying the Way of the Voice in order to learn shouts the hard way, but I don't know if that would make for compelling gameplay.

Actually, anyone can shout it just takes a lot of practice.

I know. Like I said I don't want to be Dragonborn. I don't really know how it would work. The whole learning a word, and actually using it.

But I still think it has potential. I still want it balanced, and I want it to be a fair alternative option to magic, without it replacing it.

Many of the shouts were actually spells before, the rest were from Midas Magic or Supreme Magicka (?). Or they were just useless. So most of the shouts could go back to being spells, maybe a few nordic npcs will be able to shout but that's it.

I don't want every hero from here on out have to be dragonborn, nor do I want to encounter dragons on a regular basis.

I believe it's only Nords who can learn it. The Dragonborn being the only exception.

To be honest I don't want them in TES VI, they play a part in the story of Skyrim. Besides other stuff has been added and then been removed in the next game.

What? No. This is ridiculously wrong.

Any mortal can learn how to shout. ANY. Where do you get the idea that only Nords can learn it? Sure, Nords may know more about it than the other races(at the moment), but being the only ones able to use it?

No. Just no.

"The thu'um, also called the Storm Voicehttp://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Thu%27um#cite_note-VOF-0 or simply the Voice, is a form of magic inherent in most http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Nord and some others which uses the words of the http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Dragon_Language to form "Shouts", the equivalent of spells, of immense power. "

Thought it was a purely Nordic power.
