70 Side Quests, 90 Free Quests, and 20 Main Quests

I don't believe that is the exact amount in the game because he says there are OVER The amount of quests stated

I assumed that NV was more about the "wanderin' around messing with factions thing" than about a main straight quest anyway (other than who shot you and why). So hopefully, when the main questline is done, there will still be much to do other than collect cameras. I'm not too bothered about a count/list, it's how they interact and how long they last that matters.

It ends after the MQ.

So 70 sidequests might just be 25 FO3 sized sidequests. (In overall length)
I is not a happy kitten.

Oh man, thank you very much for that enlightenment, Obsidian dev.

Oh wait, you mean you're not an obsidian dev and you have absolutely no actual clue of the length of any quests or any right to confirm it?

Unless most of the quests involve stepping two feet and shooting someone in the face, I can't possibly fathom how 70 side quests can somehow be condensed into 25 FO3 ones.

Indeed Mr Popopodeldokolopolous.

So I figure we'll have at least as much stuff to do as in F3. Totally fine with that is what I am.

Number of quests don't always mean so much. For example there were quests in Fallout:3 which were long and had several parts but counted as one quest. Had those been broken down into individual quests it would have been a lot. There are many fed ex quests in some games which are numerous but boil down to go take something there. Moira's quest was huge and seemed like a dozen quests instead of one.

This is Obsidian we are talking about here. You really think they would do that?

Nods, I suspect of the 180 quests we will only Really do a portion of them depending on which path we take through the game. The absolutely Wonderful aspect is that we have so much to do that I'll be uncovering stuff I missed Years from now. :) I love that about the big RPG games - that sense that I've never quite done it all, and that there might just be something new over the next hill... :fallout:

Yes. In fact, they already stated that some quest arcs will be about the same length as the ones in Fallout 3, but divided into smaller separate quests. The question remains is how the guide counts.

You just confused me back to Narnia... I'm going to take a wild chance and say: Yes?

Actually Hannah Barbera was the production company that produced the cartoons, not the network that showed them.

Obsidian has stated that there will be more, yet shorter quests a long time ago.

Sweetness, I'm keeping optimistic that there will be a broad range of lengths, given 90 unmarked quests I'm presuming the majority of very short ones will be there (along with all those obscure "find me in this ultra dangerous place!" quests, they're good fun).
Of course Fishydan may be right and the quests may be a LOT shorter, but I don't think it's hugely likely, most may be shorter but there's going to be a few longer ones...

Also I'm thinking the main quest has more than 20 missions and that they've only released that many achievements (happens a lot), of course it may be the case that there are just 20 main quest missions but it seems unlikely unless they're complex, 20, even assuming the name stays the same regardless of faction, is quite short for most main quests, if they split the names you're looking at 8 tops each side with 4/5 'starter' quests before any split...

I'm optimistic.

That many quests pretty much guarantees there should be something to do in every corner of the wasteland which pleases me greatly.

There were places in FO3 that felt somewhat empty and without much purpose beyond walking in there, shooting a few weak enemies and looting small time loot. I would gladly sacrifice length for a more evenly quest distributed wasteland that makes each area feel more alive.

That isn't what I was saying that about. I know they said they would be shorter.

However, she said the "90 quests = 25 fo3 quests" which she has nothing to back that up.

I agree. Also, we have to count many hours of exploration between those numerous quests, much more customization, items and after all, replayability than Fallout 3. If you play in hardcoe mode, it will probably be even longer.

The one thing that adds much needed replay value were more quests.180 quests over the 33 in FO3(without add-on) is very good news for me.

Which is why you can always pull the trigger - although, in some situations itchy triggerfinger might end up in you being killed until you die. :P

Wait what?

I assuming the side quests will still have the same length as those in FO3 but have some shorter ones and ones even shorter than that.

Even if all of these quests are much shorter, the gameplay will even out to the same anyway, which is O.K. It seems like you can't go wrong with just over 70 side quests, though. Probably end up being substantially longer than Fallout 3.
