70 Side Quests, 90 Free Quests, and 20 Main Quests

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 3:10 am

The recent strategy guide blog post on the Bethesda blog confirmed 70 side quests, 90 free quests (Which I assume are unmarked quests), and, If I counted correctly, there are twenty achievements for main quests.
Fallout 3 had about 20 main quests, and 17 side quests, in the Vanilla package.
With about 70 marked quests, with the DLC, it seems the vanilla NV is bigger than F3 GOTY.
Yay.

Well, we can't just assume every main quest gets an achievement. You also have to remember there's at least two 100% confirmed paths we can take. Which would mean, if there was only 20 quests, the New Vegas main quest is less than half as long as Fallout 3's.

Seems like FO:NV is intended to be much bigger game in terms of content, than FO3.

I thought that was just pertaining to side quests.

So 70 sidequests might just be 25 FO3 sized sidequests. (In overall length)

Tell me, top cat. You surround yourself with intellectuals, yes? As the boss, pip, or championship, if you would, would you rather have length or story enjoyability?

Maybe there are 25 Fallout 3 length sidequests and then 45 shorter ones. you're such a debbie-downer, try to be optimistic sometime. :P

Hopefully the side-quests aren't too short. Do we know for sure that there's only 20 main-quests?

You just confused me back to Narnia... I'm going to take a wild chance and say: Yes?

Sorry :P Basically; there's the chance a lot of those side quests will have better writing than Bethesda's. So would you rather have better writing or length?

Wether they be short or long, I think I'm happy either way.

Although if free quests end up being those unmarked quests in your pip-boy :banghead:
its not that big of a deal really, I'm just looking for a little more organization in regards to the unmarked quests.
I guess it kind of annoyed me how some you just had to remember and others were just short lines in the notes section.

But I can't say anything bad about it if I haven't even played the game yet. :)

Here's hoping that at least a good half of the quests do not involve dungeoncrawling or fed exing, and that some (if not even most) offer a non-violent solution as a possibility.

Which is why you can always pull the trigger - although, in some situations itchy triggerfinger might end up in you being killed until you die. :P

I assumed that NV was more about the "wanderin' around messing with factions thing" than about a main straight quest anyway (other than who shot you and why). So hopefully, when the main questline is done, there will still be much to do other than collect cameras. I'm not too bothered about a count/list, it's how they interact and how long they last that matters.
