70 Side Quests, 90 Free Quests, and 20 Main Quests

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:27 pm

Here's hoping that at least a good half of the quests do not involve dungeoncrawling or fed exing, and that some (if not even most) offer a non-violent solution as a possibility.

Actually Hannah Barbera was the production company that produced the cartoons, not the network that showed them.

I didn't mean to imply they were the network, just that Hanna Barberra Studios is currently known as Cartoon Network studios (since 2001)... But we're off the main point here.

Loving the new quest count... although a few more would be nice if its not too late!

That many quests pretty much guarantees there should be something to do in every corner of the wasteland which pleases me greatly.

There were places in FO3 that felt somewhat empty and without much purpose beyond walking in there, shooting a few weak enemies and looting small time loot. I would gladly sacrifice length for a more evenly quest distributed wasteland that makes each area feel more alive.

I felt even after level 15 every thing became a one shot kill in FO3. I agree with the evenly distributed quests :] , There were huge spaces with nothing to do : [

Sounds good. I just hope they are better than the quests in Fallout 3, which weren't bad, but not the greatest, either.

I hope there are alot more quests than fo3 as long as they aren't just running around collecting useless crap with no reward. The only quest like that i liked was collecting steel ingots in The Pitt because they were easy to find and had good rewards (metal blaster and armor). I hope it takes a lot longer to beat all the quests, i got to level 30 and beat every quest in the GOTY in 100 hours

I just hope the quests will keep the quality the FO3 quests had. Sure FO3 didn't have too many random quests, but the ones that it did have had such quality. Oblivion had lots of quests too, and they were done well, but some of them seemed very cliche.

Still way less then the elder scrolls. What's a free quest?

Yeah, way less, but way better.
F3s quests just bested Oblivion's, because about 3/4s of Oblivion's quests were either, delivery, dungeon crawl, or assassination missions, in which the quest marker told you exactly where to go.
I found the best part about Oblivion's quests was the amount of padding text they added, but whenever you enter a town...*Pop-up: I have arrived at Random Location, I'd better *

fallout 3 = 300 hours
fallout new Vegas = 1000 hours

Fallout New Vegas = 1000 x 10 hours

Oh man, thank you very much for that enlightenment, Obsidian dev.

Oh wait, you mean you're not an obsidian dev and you have absolutely no actual clue of the length of any quests or any right to confirm it?

Unless most of the quests involve stepping two feet and shooting someone in the face, I can't possibly fathom how 70 side quests can somehow be condensed into 25 FO3 ones.

you didn't read the previous posts huh. Someone ELSE said that the quests were shorter and he was saying that if 70 fnv quest equal 25 fo3 quests then it'll svck. He didn't actually say thats what it is or anything.

Fallout New Vegas = 1000 x 10 hours

Plus the four main story branches....1000 X 10 to the fourth power...
Of course then we will all see a Fallout 4 preview and drop our controllers, then run to the forums.

I remeber hearing in an interview that the "Side locations" (like places that are out of the way) Were actually focused on ALOT. He made sure to say that. This means the side locations will be better designed, more a reason to go there (Specialy for hardcoe mode) and all together a funner time exploring them. This game sounds like it will keep me entertained for the next five months. By that time DLC will be out, they said they were already working on them (Yes they work on them before game is realeased so we dont have to wait a year for them).

I predict 100 hours of gameplay or more, on an average walkthrough.

Well lets see here. 100 hours = about 4 days in all. Highly dout it will ONLY go to that long. You have to factor in exploration, replay, hardcoe, Factions, etc.

The time depending if you a replay a game instead of beating and buying a new one. It should be more around 1000 hours no exagertion, but depending the dificulty and mode you play on and how much you customize, etc. then it can vary but i guarente over 200 hours of gameplay (THATS ALOT).

They were great in Fallout 3, some were good in Oblivion, this is pleasing.

Ehhh true. But i prefer to wait a long time before getting into the next addition of game. Like i heard about new vegas along time ago, but ignored it until this summer (Damn Rick Rolls, I even got a Fallout Roll once, Ghoul Danced, raider played guitar, childern in there imagination)

Also I'm thinking the main quest has more than 20 missions and that they've only released that many achievements (happens a lot), of course it may be the case that there are just 20 main quest missions but it seems unlikely unless they're complex, 20, even assuming the name stays the same regardless of faction, is quite short for most main quests, if they split the names you're looking at 8 tops each side with 4/5 'starter' quests before any split...

I'm optimistic.

Just cause there are only 20 mission achivments/Trophies does not mean there are only that many main missions. They said that missions will cary into each other. So you could start by doing a mission for the NCR were you have to scout a CL camp. When you report back to finish the mission they give you another one (You dont recieve a Achievment). Then you set out with a group of rangers and assualt that CL that you scouted. Then when you report back you get your reward and a Achievment.

The Quest will be longer then that for the most part im just making up one based on a mission i saw played out in Demo

Kinda skimmed the thread, so I'm not sure if this was brought up yet, but maybe some of these quests are similar to those found in WoW.

What I mean is some quests are along the lines of "Go find Jack the Whacked in Ghoulsville" and talking to Jack ends that particular quest.

Yeah, WoW and Oblivion have similiar quests.
They are just padded grinding, but WoW's appeal is that you progress, I spent 60 hours in Oblivion and got to level 8.
WoW works because you feel accomplished, it doesn't work with the Havok engine IMO.
F3 didn't have the grinding quests, so it worked, I assume neither will NVegas.

That is a good number of quests, but I would tend to think they all won't be available or the same since there are different ways to play through the game. As long as quests are well written with some cool weapon or armor rewards that will be ok with me, and just think of the mods we will get over the following years

I have played games with 100s even 1000s of quests in them and I dont care about numbers what matters is do I enjoy them.

I enjoyed alot of the quests in morrowind and oblivion and fallout 3. But then I enjoyed the quests in daggerfall and those were randomly generated...

I think I will enjoy fonv and its quests too and realy thats all that matters to me.

This reason is precisly why the game has so much game time in it.

Think about it. If you could do all these quest on the same character, then it would still take some time. But you have to restart to go and do quest with some other faction (or you could save before you join one faction or start to be friends with them). Your actions will also get it so that you can do some quest and some quest you cant do. I bet if you were evil some one wouldnt ask you to go save the day, rather ruin the day :hubbahubba:

So 70 sidequests might just be 25 FO3 sized sidequests. (In overall length)
I is not a happy kitten.

Negative Nancy, anyhow, I will just have to see when i get the game.

:cryvaultboy: in this link article http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/new-vegas-is-hundreds-of-hours-deep pete hines said it would take several hundred hours of gameplay to explore the map and do the quests so thats good news, fallout 3 they said was 100 hours this they are saying its 3 times more than FO3, its gonna be a huge huge game, bigger than FO3 in many aspects.
