The game jam 2011 part made me a sad panda....

Its been 3 months since release and they still haven't fixed the game automatically saving over the prisoner file at the beginning. (every week or so there's another post of someone who finds this out the hard way and loses there savegame)

They have yet to fix iDeathDropWeaponChance which LITERALLY takes a second to fix by simply changing a number to "0" which some do on PC manually, (but we require it in a patch on PS3) to cut down on the crippling SAVEGAME BLOAT.

They have yet to fix the nirn root glow bug as well. The game just endlessly adds and re-adds junk contributing to the save game bloat.

Items dropped by the player outside, including shot arrows are never EVER cleaned up. I do not need arrows stuck in the wall inside an Inn from the very beginning of the game to be there months later. Its not realistic when people don't clean up junk lying everywhere, DAILY, let alone leaving things lying on the ground permanently. Its not realistic, and it adds to eventual crippling of your save game.

All these little things that contribute to the savegame bloat, that gets completely ignored after4 patches... Which hurts the PS3 the most. Constant crashing and a stuttering framerate.

It pains me to realize there's this level of incompetence that they can't include a fix that takes SECONDS, yet they accomplished so much in 1 week of "Game Jam". Like proper water and seasons. 5 years to make the game and you guys couldn't implement water that looks better then from a game in 2004 ? But then someone did it in a week?

*facepalm*

I don't think they made this in a week ... stuff like the seasonal changes and ambient occlusion , underwater distorsions would need some more indeep coding I guess , unless this is already all coded in the engine and just needed to be enabled... but I bet they removed just to not have problems on running the game on consolles , wich ruins the PC game experience...

This video was the coolest welcome back to the internet ever. I hope to see some of this stuff included as a future download, or an attempted mod recreation of those not included.

Lycanthropy tree and spell fusing seem like the best to add in for me since it revives two playstyles, especially the underpowered lycanthropes.

This was the first Game Jam. Before Game Jam, there was only http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117705/

I was better off having forgotten that existed. Thanks a lot. :(

I thoroughly enjoyed that entire speech. In particular, I always like to see the inner workings of how things are done. Todd's whiteboard drawing made me chuckle as I wondered how anyone would know what he was talking about based upon that.

Was any mention made of the fact the PS3 version is still broken 3 months after release? Or were they too busy with telling us how great the game is and what great expansions are coming?

I see GStaff is all over this thread too. Must be positive feedback, rather than stick for releasing a broken game.

A lot of that stuff was really cool and could fit together into an expansion.

Like a vampire lord is living in seclusion within a cloaked castle somewhere in Skyrim's mountainrange.
And the player can work there way up the castle to face off against the lord.
  • Can use tapestries (cloth physics) and breakable walls to conceal hidden rooms.
  • All the vampire mods from gamejam video can be used.
  • And the goblins and imps can be new types of enemies.
  • The chain weapon can be a new weapon type for castlevania style nostalgia.

The Return of blunt weapon?
Flails? and maybe spears? but spears isnt a blunt weapon right? x)
I mean would be cool if they added new skills that allows you to level up more.I mean you want to spend these perk points on the new cool stuff! and things you missed

I think that the graphic improvements (flow based water shader, 'internal' SSAO instead of forced SSAO, seasonal weather, verlet surfaces, underwater effects) are probably stuff that will never make into DLC or even a patch, since the consoles right now cannot do stuff like that without some serious performance impact. But that does not stop these features from being implemented into the Elder Scrolls VI, which is most likely on track to be released on the next generation console and PC hardware. Remember that Oblivion was going to have dynamic shadows too which got cut before release, and Skyrim has them now. Sure, the shadow implementation could be much better, but it's much better than the flat, shadow-less world of Oblivion.

PC gamers just got a massive texture upgrade pack, so I wouldn't say those graphical improvements are completely out of bounds.

As Todd mentioned in the keynote, we can't do everything, and everything shown was done after the game shipped.

And as a reminder, and as Todd mentioned in the keynote, none of what you saw are confirmed features for updates, DLC, etc.. Some of that stuff will make it in, but not everything.

Yeah, I understand Gstaff, it's all cool.

NOW SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

Maybe someone does. We PC players already have a mod that allows us to use shouts (and call our horse) with our microphones.

So if they eventually add mountable dragons... How long would it be before a modder added party hats?

just because they would probably cause a problem with consoles doesn't mean that they can't make it to pc. I would like to see the seasonal weather and waterflow, but Their are other things I woulld like more that would prbably cause less of a problem. ( a build your own house, even if their preplanned)
