Skyrim Game Jam! #2

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:47 am

While I agree some of the features should be free, I don't think an expansion with a whole new piece of land is going to be free.

i think he meant, he would pay for big stuff, not added bonuses

I would love a Game Jam Extravagana DLC.

I see a reason. Half of this should've been in from the start.
A guy named Totalbiscuit made a good argument on the matter. Skyrim is a game that could suffer by something called "feature creep". They could just add and add to the game, and it would never come out. Its better that they just released the game like this, and then put it into a dlc.

Can't wait to see what happens next for Skyrim. If they take their time to build an epic DLC I'm thinking they may even reach the scope of something like what New Vegas was for Fallout.

Super Excited ! I'd absolutely fork out the cash when you can see how much effort they put in.

I like the goblins ! Maybe we'll see little people too. Sinister, plotting little people.

Why weren't they left in the game?

Everything I saw in that little Game Jam bit was freaking awesome and would have added so much more enjoyment to the game...

I've wanted a lycanthropy perk tree equivalent since Bloodmoon. Also, I've been trying to put a bug in the dev's ears since the official boards opened up for skyrim. Oh, and SPEARS!!!

the waygate seems pretty redundant to me, considering the existence of the magic that is fast travelling.

"High level draugr." Aren't they in the game already?

The other things look very amazing and I'd definitely pay to get those things in my game. They just have to tell a good reason for how a group of goblins have wandered into Skyrim.

Spears looked pretty cool, until the character started doing all that twirling with it. Seriously, all the NPC had to do was take a few steps forward during her twirl, and she'd end up hitting him in the shoulder with the pole of the spear, while he shoves a sword through her gut. Too much of a "French show spearman" style, not practical. Although it would be interesting to see Bloodmoon's "Spear of the Hunter" introduced into Skyrim.
Mounted Combat is most definately needed to make horse riding in Skyrim much more useful. The horses will also need Barding to keep them alive longer.
Werebears should've been in Skyrim from the beginning, since they've been stated to be the most common lycanthrope in Skyrim. I'm thinking the Werewolf is more of a speed/"DPS" type transformation, while the Werebear is more of a "tank" type transformation. From what i saw of the perk tree though, the first perk that allows you to transform more times per day, would be made obsolete by Hircine's Ring.
The Vampire combat feeding is definately needed. They can't actually do that specific "Vampire Lord" look, since they'd be stepping on Underworld's copyrights then. Vampires don't get their own perk tree like Lycanthropes will, because a Vampire can still utilize every perk in his other skills, a transformed lycanthrope can't.

Yeah, just imagine the possibilities if the game didn't succumb to the dreaded Consolitis disease...

Consoles can handle it, heck they can even handle dual spear wielding.

Heres proof of that.

Not to mention 6 swords gameplay (yes 6 swords)

@Rhoark

Why would verlet surfaces need to be introduced in a new context?

Slap that stuff onto any foliage in the game and make 1/5 giants a fatty.

I liked the quote at the end of the video: "What if we worked like that more often, what could we do?"

I certainly hope Bethesda allow their employees much more artistic freedom-to-design in the next TES game, as some aspects of Skyrim feel quite restrained. The video demonstrates exactly what happens when you remove the executive decision making log jam and let creativity flow.

I think vampires should get their own skill tree. I also think there should be a Thu'um skill tree.

Yes, but without "Consolitis", Bethesda might have gotten a bad case of Bankruptamy

Consolitis is a myth. The Witcher is a PC exclusive and doesn't have more features than Skyrim. The same way that Dark Souls is currently a console exclusive and has more compelling boss fights.

I'd shoot myself before I fought the Four Kings of New Londo again. (Inb4 Ironskin exploit)

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if Kinect Shouts wind up in Skyrim in the next patch (1.6). Microsoft probably saw that Gamejam and pissed themselves in excitement that they can stick another one of those ugly purple "Better with Kinect" banners on a game.

I agree with this and then we get into the conversation that this game was rushed and lacks many of these features which could have made it into the game if given more time and then they could have given it a little more polish.
