I have patch notes on Steam up to the 4GB patch on Dec 20, 2011... so someone knew about it, but they haven't seemed to use it since then?

I'm guessing there was turnover in the programming department right about then.

I wonder if Bethesda knows there is actually a place to put patch notes right on Steam for each patch you release. It's not hard at all.

They used the Steam news feed for the first couple patches...up through 1.3, I think. After that they just stopped. Not sure why, but I wish they'd kept using it. There's plenty of people on the Steam forums who rely on the Steam news feed for patch notes and don't think to check here or the Bethblog. (Which I just checked myself...no updates there either.)

I'm looking through my game files now. So far the updated files seem to be: TESV.exe, Update.esm (but not Update.bsa), installscript.vdf and, in the reslists folder, precache.lst and preload.lst. Those are the only game files I can find with a timestamp corresponding to today's update.

Well, after the Update my skyrim doesnt start.. launcher..start.. a couple of seconds later.. nothing happens..

If you're running with mods, especially SKSE, disable them for now. Chances are one's interfering with the new update. SKSE is already confirmed as needing an update.

I wouldn't be in too big of a hurry. 1.5 is borked.

Really? I only played a few hours on it but I didn't see any issues. What's wrong with it?

If he's using SKSE, the patch broke it. It'll need to be updated, as usual.

1.5 causes random CTD's when fast-travelling, especially to whiterun.

Great... no more Skyrim til there's an SKSE update. Does anyone know how long that might take? I don't mean to prod at the SKSE authors -- it'll happen when it happens. Just wondering if there are any guesses about how long it'll be (how long has it taken in the past when a new patch came out?) so I know whether to just hang in there for a few days, or go immerse myself in something different for a week+ before coming back to check.

Hmm. I don't run any mods or anything. Just plain old vanilla Skyrim. I didn't have any issues with fast-travelling but I can't remember if I went to Whiterun during my playtime in the previous 1.5 patch.

ChaosPearl, The SKSE guys are usually pretty quick. However, this patch just came out of the blue.

SKSE seems to be pretty good about keeping up with Bethesda's updates. Usually seems like they have at least a beta SKSE version to go along with a new patch before Bethesda even drop kicks it out of open beta.

This is just an incremental patch. Nothing to get excited about, just minor bug fixes and the like.

Oh, you have the patch notes?

My issue is that almost every patch breaks something, while fixing something else.

True, but us OCDers in the crowd would still like to know what got fixed. :P

Phew! Managed to load up Steam, offline it and block it with my firewall before it had chance to ninja me with the patch. Will not allow it access again until SKSE updated.

Exactly... FG!

At least make a beta, so the guys from the SKSE Team have their stuff out, when the patch hits everyone... Wonder how much they broke this time. Thank god, I always keep a spare exe of the last version with SKSE and Script Dragon Support lying around.
