Skyrim.....NEEDS TO GO ONLINE!

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 2:15 am

Bethesda Studios!!! Made an absolutely awesome game! I love it. Somehow you have to put this game online for a multiplayer outlook so friends can play together in the same world. Simply a friendly competiton with friends and other people throughout the world. I think other fans of the elder scroll games would agree that putting this game online would be ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Simply adding online quests or even teaming up with your own friends and other fellow Elder Scroll fans to do some SERIOUS DRAGONSLAYING!!!!! You probably have already thought about doing this but just think of the possibilities of this game. THE SKY IS THE LIMIT with this game online! I am a harcore call of duty fan and since Skyrim has been released i havent played MW3 once. I simply can't get enough of this game. Im sure putting this game online for PC, XBOX, PS3 is easier said than done but it is a dream that i have since playing this unbelievable game!!!!! My xbox does not appreciate me playing this game for countless hours on end! 2 thumbs up and hear my THUUM...... INCREDIBLE JOB GUYS!!!! WAAAAAAAAANT MORE!

I think if played in the right way it could be done. I think if you only had one of each race on one server exploring the world and have some quests that can only be done with a group of people or have all 9 join in for 1 giant main quest. Now making it a HUGE MMORPG.......nope.

TES Online = Lack of choice, lack of customization, inferior quests, uninteresting plot, little flexibility in playstyle/character class. See any MMO that currently or has existed in the past for an example. I'm even against a coop feature ala Diablo, to much is sacrificed in the name of balance.

Most of the people in this forum are too close minded. You just have to look at Borderlands to know a multiplayer TES game could be done with ease.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, for more reasons than i can bother to describe.

Btw there is a thread for this and these threads aren't really allowed. They attract flame and answers like "no" or "no" so they are kinda pointless.

Also you compare Borderlands with TES? I'll pretend i did not hear that, erase it from my mind and move on.

It'll happen, bioware sold out long ago, but now ME3 will have co-op, bet roflDA3 has at least co-op too. Eventually TES will be a MMO or have some other multiplayer functions, it'll be bad.

I read an article a while back (before I learned about Skyrim) that TES was going online. Well, maybe the person who wrote the article was on crack.

If they did OMFG I would leave my family, quit my job, and use my retirement to pay for my internets connections and live in the world of Skyrim until the end of my days!

[censored] off

Seriously. It isn't just a matter of, "well, if they make it multiplayer, then everyone is happy." No. They have a finite amount of resources and development time, and the more they devote to making a multiplayer game, the less is devoted to the single player experience. As it is, TES is the absolute greatest single player series of all time in my - and many others' - opinion. This is not a multiplayer game. The whole feel of being isolated in a huge, mysterious and dangerous world is lost when you add multiplayer, and thankfully Bethesda recognizes that.

I think our dear friend M'Aiq said it best: "M'Aiq does not know this word. You wish others to help you in your quest? Coward! If you must, search for the Argonian Im-Leet, or perhaps the big Nord, Rolf the Uber. They will certainly wish to join you."

I agree with the last logic of people saying no. Its like having a parent telling a kid no and the kid asks why and the parents say because i said so.......Doesnt really help with the reason why you said no. I gave my reason earlier how it could be done.

initial knee jerk reaction to this Idea for me is NOPE....but after thinking..going CO-OP with a select few that I could trust to not be stupid might be fun....nahhh, at least keep one game for us shut ins please thank you very much.

Borderlands has most of the same elements that a TES game has.. Character Customization, Skill trees, proficiencies, quests, level scaling, progressive loot system, etc. Both games share common RPG elements.

There is no good argument against co-op in TES. The game could only get more fun.

Want MP/Co-OP? These simple steps will make it possible!!

-Get your buddy(ies)
-Get same amount of TV's & consoles/PCs (Sorta like a LAN party)
-Set them up in a line (if your on PC gamepad suggested)
-Start the game all at the same time
-Play it together
-????
-Profit

This gives everyone the freedom they should have without Beth even changing a damn thing beats Diablo 2's Co-op because not one guy is doing it ALL you all are and if you miss something your freind(s) might find something even more. Of course trading isn't possible but with the amount of help you get from your friends you won't need it.

I could see how perhaps a co-op function could work if the game had been developed to allow it, but an MMO? God help you for even suggesting such a profanity.

Okay then, how about NO because then the game would
1. Have less resorces spent on the actual single player and missions
2. DLC would svck because much time will be devoted to multiplayer crap
3. Game would fill with kids boasting "OMG I GOTS AN UBER SWORD!!!"
4. Whiners would emerge claiming its a WoW knockoff
5. ???
6. ???
7. Anything but profit

Hehehehhe you answer in a very nice way and you are quite right. Tbh i'm too tired atm to expand the reasons and i've done it countless times before. Some of them are mentioned in the thread. It's kinda tricky to understand - it was for me too - but after playing a myriad of mmo's and being a fan of single player games too and seeing a lot of them becoming mmo's i understood. An online version of Skyrim will be completely different than what it is now. Trust me on this.

Mostly, because developing time and resources would have to go on a myriad different things than the things that now make the game great. Balance issues would come out, quests would become suddenly more of a competition, the rp sense of most of the things would be lost as well as many other things.

False. That is merely an opinion.

No TES game should ever go online in my opinion because it would be a COMPLETE sellout of the TES series.

It isn't the same at all.. I want to dungeon crawl and group quest with some good friends. I want to be able to heal my buddy if he is about to go down. To trade/sell loot and crafted items with friends. Games are always more fun when played with people you know. Simply hearing their voice over your headset isn't good enough. I want them in my game.

Then by all means go play an MMO with your friends.
