This.
Also, "general npc pathfinding optimization/fixes" could be navmesh, but they'd probably call it such if it was.
They fixed nirnroots, too : )

BY THE GODS!

Well this is nice that I have a completely empty save folder since I've been making mods instead of playing.

Going to try out that mounted combat!

I am totally gonna make a horse archer now. Only downside is pretty much all mods won't work with it. (skse and it's users, i'm guessing a lot lot more.) Time for a reinstall.

"Fixed rare issue, fixed rare issue, fixed rare issue, fixed rare issue!" lol. so many RARE issues!!!

Joking aside, I wonder what will happen with the current Mounted Combat WiP mod? I assume it'l either die, or restart from scratch (and I imagine everything will be easier now.)

Well this gives an official base to start with, but not to say there's nothing to work on after.

For example, I think this was added in for players only. I wonder if NPC mounted combat is enabled or not. In that case, imagine a Warzones with actual functioning cavalry in fights!

Yeah that mod was the first thing that jumped to my mind when I saw that update on bethblog... makes me feel kinda bad for that mod author having done so much hard work :( Unless ofc bethesda was secretly helped my him to implement it officially... but doubt that happened :P

Well, the mod has a ton of features that I doubt Bethesda added, such as the 'realistic bumping' which I was really looking forward to (horses actually stun/push people in their way. Assassin's creed style)

But yeah, thats what I was saying, when I said it'l probably be easier, if he did continue/restart from scratch.

Heh, NPCs mounted? Next thing we need is an Oblivion Gate crisis! Then we could see how Oblivion should've been, with knights of Solitude riding in, impaling daedra as they step out of the gates! :3 it'd be EPIC!!!! lol

Ian and I will start to take a look at this beta build today. Hopefully we'll have an update tonight or tomorrow. This one snuck up on us too.

Great to hear. I won't rush you though, I'm happy enough to have an update that I can't complain about the possible disruption to my mods :P
I hope you find new and useful things in there, to make your life easier!

Fair warning: Wrye Bash is NOT compatible with this beta update. DO NOT start it, it will declare Update.esm to be corrupt.

Why is there no video yet? Surely they should be making a way bigger fuss out of this than when they had extra killcams.

These patches are a mixed blessing since they seem to screw up some mods and utilities but clean up some problems too

The CK is incompatible, too. Getting a ton of errors...

Maybe once the patch is officially released.

Someone posted a video of the Mounted Combat in action on the Skyrim Nexus Front Page, along with the news post. I guess they must have got a better heads up about this.

Thanks for the heads up.

LOL at the flying horse xD
Looks kind of clunky to control, and the vid seems to only show attacking on the right side of the horse, with a single weapon.

^direct link to the vid

what about magic/shouting i wonder. and would AOE spells hurt the horse, if they're in?

I would say that Dual Wielding would be pretty much impossible to attempt in real life on horseback, not unless you wanted to get either yourself or your horse killed in the process.
