Skyrim should have had sea monsters

Like big creatures. Not those small slaughterfish, but that wouldn't work unless you could use weapons/magic in water like in Oblivion.

So what do you guys think?

epic :) Maybe a quest where you go out on the sea of ghosts and fight one off to defend the vessle or maybe have the choice to sabotage the ship like you did with that
Spoiler

lighthouse quest for the argonian in solitude
The oceans are far and few between, but the ports were awsome, i wish they had done more with that.

You know, I was kinda hoping for that too when I read the book about the Sea Ghosts. It was fun to discover the relevant Ancient Nord tomb, but that's not as cool as actually fighting those monsters (or whatever they should be) like Ysgramor did.

Aside from that, I'd love to find some real life in the oceans too. We're in a country based off a people who had tons of sea monsters (and monsters in general), I'm really dying to see some of them ...

You can't attack in water... Maybe if you can ride boats and ships! And be attacked by dragons... and and pirates and... oh look at me..

I would've really liked to see the dreughs make a return. Not the stupid land dreughs or whatever they were from Oblivion but the sea ones from Morrowind - man, they used to freak the hell out of me. Going in the water in MW was scary - in Skyrim it's not scary at all.

But yeah, a giant sea monster would be really cool too. Like a dragon in the sea... A water-dragon!

Never quite understood why Bethesda removed the ability to attack while in water, as well as reducing possible in-water threats to mudcrabs and slaughterfish.

Give me one: 'Derp realism, you can't swing swords well underwater' And I swear I'll have a giant fire-breathing reptile *censored* slap you into next week.

Pffft.....

Silly OP, everyone knows Bethesda can't implement underwater combat. It's too 'advanced'.

If anything Argonians should have atleast had the ability to drown people or even use their claws (fingernails?) while in water... I'm tired of having stare downs with nord bandits that seem to have miraculously grown gills.... I mean an Argonian getting eaten by a slaughter fish or even a medium sized "sea monster" just doesn't sound right...

What I can't understand is why they also removed the water walking spell. It's stupid enough that there's no way to defend yourself while swimming, but to then force you to swim to get to some areas is just [censored].

But ya sea monsters would have been pretty awesome! Although I'm sure a giant squid/octopus would definitely keep me out of the water...

Running into Jormungand-like sea serpent north of Dawnstar would make for an awesome adventure (fishing for it with the grilled ox head)

Hunting at sea? Count me in, I want a ship fitted with the Dremer triple arrow Ballista. Just so I can pretend I'm Captain Ahab.

I freaked myself out the first time I went deep into the Sea of Ghosts. I killed a mark for the DB, and was disposing of his body in the sea. I wanted to drag him out really far so there was no chance he'd wash ashore. However, after a time I became convinced something was in the water with me, so I ditched the body and swam for shore. It was intense.

Imagine my disappointment when I learned all that suspense was just in my head, and there wasn't any kind of sharks or sea serpents that were moving in for the kill.

despite, the ridiculousness of the current slughterfish/no player character underwater combat system, gamesas, imo, dropped the ball by eliminating underwater combat.

could have been epic.

instead, cut and eliminate. less.

I still don't understand why underwater combat doesn't exist. If anything the attacks underwater should just be varied; instead of swinging a sword as easily as you would above water you would probably use more of a 'stabbing motion' and so forth. Also in universe this game takes place in it seems silly to have such un-inhabited waters.

and, yet, it was one of the aspects that amazed me and drew me in with morrowind.

i loved exploring the underwater areas and finding those hidden treasures and additional passageways.

look what we have now: people actually stating that it's ok to not have underwater combat and loving the more realistic, yet, worthless gameplay mechanic, underwater graphics.

instead, of adding new enemy types and advancing underwater combat, we get.......

Underwater is the scariest thing imaginable in Daggerfall. If you have an underwater phobia, that game tops them all.

I was hoping to see sea wyrms/dragons in the game and was disappointed when I found out that there aren't any of sea serpents. I think they would fit perfectly in the dragonic style they have in Skyrim.
