If a game like Skyrim actually scares you then you should definitely not play the original Dead Space.

Play the original Dead Space.

I play with the music off, blacked out windows, a Sub Wof setting under the coffee table and the rumble pack cranked up. I feel the need to wear advlt diapers at times. I usually always jump when sneaking in a dark dungeon and step on a bunch of bones. The controller rumbles, my character takes damage ( haven't figured that one out yet ) and I piss myself.

There are times I get vocal, when I am stalking through the world, everything is quiet and BLAAAAAA!!!! The whole room thunders as a Dragon just blasts my ass from out of nowhere. No sounds...no warnings...just RAAHHHHH!!!

I'm getting too old for that crap!

not scary. all the lights go dark and the doors lock, formulaic and boring. Penumbra and Amnesia, however...

Not scary to a jaded person perhaps, but to someone who's afraid of Skyrim It would be terrifying.

The draugr sounds get to me. Not so much the draugr themselves, but the snarling and snuffling around...combined with those empty and random clunks and rattles in the tombs and caverns.

Falmer don't worry me greatly...I sneak and use muffled boots, plus when I clear an area, I clear it completely, it's the old scavenging instinct. However, I always take a companion if I go underground...I have always had a thing about beasties creeping up behind me. If F3 I took Dogmeat along religiously specifically for that reason, in Skyrim, it's Lydia.

Edit:

Dead Space is a game that I absolutely refuse to play. Creeping around in dark boogie holes with monsters lurking to rip me apart? NFW. I live in South Australia, and the great white sharks feed along the coastline of our gulf here, and Dead Space is so much like going scuba diving with a leg of lamb tied around your neck. Definitely not for me.

I can't honestly imagine how Skyrim can be scary to anyone. Night's aren't dark, dungeons and caves are filled with torches or glowing mushrooms making those places horribly bright. Not to mention that until You turn of the compass in .ini file, You always know from where the enemies are coming from.

I havent. I'll have to look into it. Thanks.

Best hint I had for getting really spooked playing Amnesia is to turn all the lights off in your house and then play the game with all the doors open and with headphones on! You just KNOW that something is creeping through your house and is about to leap through that open door behind you!

Meh...Didn't scare me at all. I'm not much into horror, but a game that made me jump a few times was the first Bioshock. and then only in the first level. Narrow corridors with splicers jumping you...

If a game like Skyrim can scare you, then wait until you play a game like Amnesia. It will have you curled up in the corner of your room screaming for mercy. That said, not many games scare me, the first fear gave me a few chills as did Amnesia. As for Skyrim? i am yet to feel any chills. :)

I find it hard to get startled in Skyrim, but man do i hate spiders. I'm scared of them in real life which shows ingame as well.
At least i can literally do the whole "KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!1!" thing in Skyrim.

I'm not scared in this game, but those spiders do give me a creep. It's more of a disgusting feeling than fear though...

Draugrs scare me the most because they like to sneak up EVER so quietly and then suddenly just attacked me out of nowhere!! (thankfully they are very weak.. lol)

I couldn't sleep for so many nights after finishing Amnesia... I kept seeing Mr. Face's .. face.. *shivers* (not gonna go back and play that for a long longggg time)

That is the same for me, i don't fear them because it's not like they are going to jump through the screen and wrap me in silk.. but i have been told that my facial expression when fighting them is one of disgust and horror.

Nah, i don't intentionally kill animals. Even if they're small and creep me out.

I think i'll get that mod for Skyrim that turns all spiders into bears though.

Don't you just love it when you kill one but the corpse keeps twitching and you're not quite sure whether it's dead or it will jump you the moment you get closer, so you're trying to stay as far away from the corpse as possible but are still keeping an eye on it...
