Snow day!

What is this "Snow Day" you speak of? I do not know this term. I assume that it is a day when it snows, yes?

No, a californian wouldn't know that. There's a distinction between snowy day and snow day. Snow day is a forced "day off" because there was or is a snow storm so tense that the roads are all covered and cities, towns can't clear the street fast enough for the traffic to be safe and specifically "not stuck". It's fun to drive in a snow storm, but don't think you can actually go where you want to... on time.

Much of Toronto and Ontario is taking a day off because of a heavy storm system we havent seen the likes of for a few years. So far nothing..

I usually don't work on wednesdays anyway..:P

Thats just for Winter Intersession though. I did have a Snow Week after Christmas though.

EDIT: I just hang out inside during snow days.

We're supposed to get a snowstorm tonight here on Long Island. I'm thinking my school will only get a delayed opening though.

Its a prophecised day that foretells many people seriously hurting their backs for some odd reason

Don't remind me. I despise shoveling snow.

I dunno, but I remember having to walk 15 miles through the snow, just to learn how to add 2 + 2. And we liked it that way! Sure, I'm only 22, but still!

"When I was a young'un, just for an education we had to walk uphill . . . there and back!" My English teacher said that to me once. Made me laugh pretty hard.

My dad told me that too

Unfortunately for him I know where he went to school and I know for a fact there are no hills. Unless of course the landscape has changed that much from the stone age

Schools in the big cities never get closed during snowstorms. Most of the schools that close are those in the small towns.
The only times city schools will close will be because ice falls from the sky, not snow. :P

So I think I only got 1 or 2 day offs in all my school life. Though, the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnknWqSzgJc&feature=fvwrel hit us so hard that very few places had electricity and, thus, no school. I think I got 1 or 2 weeks off... playing cards with the family and watching the Canadian Army clean the streets.

So you don't have to go to school because there is snow? That doesn't make any sense at all.
Too much snow for teachers to deal with, the city/town is lazy, and students will arrive "late" or not at all.

Tomorrow we'll be getting between 14-18 inches of snow. Its the most snow I've seen in a while. With the kids being home I've saved up 3 netflix movies ~ Inception, Monsters, and Going the Distance (for the wife). Other than that I'll be playing the new maps on Black Ops and trying to entertain 3 kids.

Yep no snow here. We're even lucky if it sprinkles snow.

I do believe we need a rain day. Or an earthquake day.

In the midwest we got a day off with the ice storm for Tuesday. Some places currently don't have power and we got about 2 inchs of ice along with some snow meaning no school for us at least.

It's pretty bad here..constant 35 mph winds..with gusts up to 55 mph. I went outside to see how bad it was (all bundled up of course) I couldn't even hold my head up because of snow pelting me in the face constantly. We also had a 3 ft drift outside our door, that went into a 5 ft drift that extended down to the driveway and back to the garage. It's nasty. I don't think I want to wake up till Friday hahaha.

"Snow Day"? It was about 40 degrees today :( (And thats Celcius for you crazy other people)

Still, I suppose considering people in Queensland currently have a Catagory 5 Cyclone bearing down on them I can't really complain can I?

It's just like that near Chicago. After a minute of shoveling, the snow practically filled back up to levels when I was starting to shovel, and shoveling 2ft of snow only to have it return 10minutes later gets annoying (but still a good workout). My brother, dad, and I have been taking hourly shifts to no avail.

I could go for some snow right now. We have a heat wave in Sydney at the moment, and we're getting 40 degree weather. That's about 105 in farenheit (spelling?).

Yeah I live about an hour away from Chicago, right by the lake too. It's just nasty here.

Hey, same here.

Yeah I'm listening to the fire dispatch and we're almost fresh out of fire trucks..with some being stuck..some not being able to even leave and every other one being used. We had to call in the national guard and..I just never seen it this bad.
