"Snow Day"? It was about 40 degrees today :( (And thats Celcius for you crazy other people)

I have to agree with this. "Snow Day" is a bizarre and alien concept. It was about 40o today. It was in Celsius. And you are crazy.

Still, I suppose considering people in Queensland currently have a Catagory 5 Cyclone bearing down on them I can't really complain can I?

I imagine it gets them out of school though. Nothing like impending destruction of your entire town as an excuse to get out of doing your homework.

It was nothing like I thought. Way worse. 3 ft of snow is on the road where i live, I literally cannot leave my driveway. There is a 5 ft drift at some point. Two lane roads are one lane..only the biggest of streets seem plowed and it's still snowing.

Snow day for myself as well.

Luckily, I already finished all of my homework, so now I have the whole day to relax and play some video games.

Probably finish Knights of the Nine again... yeah!

Well, my family and me dug ourselves out. The only problem is that the city has yet to come around with the plows to clear the alleys and streets.

Yeah even if we did dig ourselves out, our roads are completely unusable.

Mine called it off a day in advance which was weird. They got 12+ inches there though from lake effect snow. We only got about 8 and I live about 35 minutes away.

Don't you have snow plows or something? Something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEvS-xHTjsg
One or two feet of snow is no reason to skip school and I've never heard of snow days. :P Maybe if it got cold, I might have skipped school myself back in the day. Under -30C would have been too cold for me and we still had to go to school at under -20C. I did anyways. Sports class (or P.E.) skiing might have been replaced with some indoor sport on that day though.

I'm just waiting for his big crack of thunder from the heavens and your entire subcontinent sinks to the bottom of the sea. Someone must be mad at you all. :flame:

After the morning of digging pathways around the yard and clearing the driveway, my dad got stuck in a snow drift in another town. He was pushed out by a guy who was part of the SWAT and tactical arms training in the area, and was driving a H2 hummer. However, to make matters go from bad to worse, the SWAT guy also got stuck in that same snowdrift, and my dad had to call me to bring shovels to dig the guy out. Couldn't pull his car out, as it was too entrenched in the snow, so it took about an hour for my dad, the SWAT guy, and me to free his car.

I expect to dig out 1 or 2 more cars by the end of the day, due to my brother's friends trying to go over snow mounds (they're not bright), or my mom or dad getting stuck again.

No work for me again tonight as they still haven't plowed my roads that are filled with snow. 3-5 ft deep in places. Oh well!

I feel lucky, where I live it's been almost all ice. there have been lots of reports of power outages here though. I was fortunate enough not to lose power, but did lose cable and internet this morning. Luckily it was back on when I got home from work this afternoon.

Forum withdrawal really svcks.
