Songs that make you sad/emotional

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:44 am

Speaking of anime, the song of the 1st opening of Death note is very sad to me, after knowing what happened to L and Light...

I love The World by Nightmare! ^.^

When The Tigers Broke Free, by Pink Floyd

I know it's from The Final Cut but it was in The Wall too, and if I had to pick a fav sad song from that it'd be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjyJZeXVo-g.

Lots from The Wall. What a depressing album, I love it

Goodbye Blue Sky
Don't Leave Me Now
Is There Anybody Out There?
Nobody Home
Vera
Stop

among others, but I think that is one of the album's best qualities. It's mixed emotions.

Oh gods. I wouldn't even know where to start. My memory is mostly tied to audio and, curious enough, smells. Get me anything from that one year before I started growing and girls were girls and did what they do in puberty and later... and how that kicked in for me mentally first and physically after...
Sheesh. Just look for the typical stuff during the early 90s, mostly Nirvana and Cher. No, I won't post song titles, that is the first step to breakdown, so I rather listen to Boogie's song now. That cheers me up. From the same time, even.

Music doesn't really make me sad. I generally listen to more upbeat stuff, but if I'm feeling down I'll usually go on a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3nPiBai66M&ob=av2nm or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jduFDgIr598 binge.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jig_BSvn8wE from the video game Rule of Rose. The game itself svcked, but this song always sends me goosebumps. It's so depressing and tastefully done, but also has a kind of dark tone.

While they don't make me sad, it does get me emotional. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGn8_g_fG1g and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHQx_yCk1Vg&feature=related from Savatage.

Blast! Cats in the Cradle was already taken! I remember being a kid and hearing that song and thinking I want to be like my dad. Now I'm a dad, and I think about what my son will grow up to be.

Let's see here, a couple more songs for you. I've linked to lyrics. Also, folks, it'd be great to actually put titles in your links instead of "this" or "1" etc.

http://www.elyrics.net/read/t/tim-mcGraw-lyrics/don_t-take-the-girl-lyrics.html
Boy meets girl and girls have cooties so don't take her fishin. Boy dates girl, and gets robbed by bandit. Boy marries girl. Girl dies in childbirth. Boy takes daughter fishin.

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/dixiechicks/travelinsoldier.htmlGirl meets a lonely soldier at a diner. Soldier writes to her often. Girl sobs under the bleachers as the names of the fallen are read

The River is Flowing: a traditional song that reminds me of a good summer and a few people I worked with

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcHjAUhtSrk by Joanna Newsom.

Don't know why....it just does.

Saw her live in Grand Rapids, MI....very eccentrically talented young lady.

Also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhNrrrCCTdA by Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac.
My daughter wanted that song to be played during the Father/Bride dance at her wedding reception. I cried with joy in that moment.

I second this motion.
Actually, if they're too lazy to specify what they're linking to, I'm too lazy to click their link.

Heh... sadly, I missed that "classic". :pinch:

I heard an interview with Kerry Livgren once, and he said "Dust in the Wind" actually started out as just a couple lines that rhymed scribbled on a napkin. He messed around with it, and the band liked it, so they recorded it. It has no "heartfelt" or "emotional" connotations to him what so ever.

The Morrowind title theme always brings back a flood of emotions, but good ones.

Dear God by XTC also has an emotional tug for me.

Boom! by System Of A Down gets me pumped up, but it can be either good or bad emotions with that one. Depends on my mood at the time.

There are just so many.

Oh, Taps on the bugle, makes me cry every time I hear it for some reason. :blush2:
