Star Wars references in NV

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 5:22 am

What, you mean FO3 wasn't one huge Star Wars reference? "Lone Wanderer...I'm your Father. Come with me to the Purifier Side..." Rebellion of Steel's Elder Ackbar recruiting you to stop the evil Darth Eden. Fawkes the Mutant Wookie. The Mos Paradise "hive of scum and villainy." :P

You forgot telling Zimmer "This isnt the droid you're looking for"

Star Trek and Fallout?

Sorry but the image of a shiny-happy futuristic society where money and hardship are replaced by universal unity and the abolition of all human vices just doesn't fit the image in my mind of a destroyed human society post nuclear war in which people are eating eachother and mutating into horrific forms...

I can't think of a better dicotomy actually, its almost like two completely different portrayals of the future. I love Star Trek and Fallout both - for Very different reasons.

I pray to GOD that no one listens to this and that we get None, Zero, Ziltch, Nata, No Star Trek references of Any kind in New Vegas!

Actually the Federation from star trek came about after humaity nearly wiped themselves out in a nuclear war, so the references make sense, more sense than star wars ones anyway!

I'd be worried about the references being too overt (no lightsabers please), I wouldn't mind seeing some tracks in the desert though, three lines in the sand with some footprints besinde them or something

So... the question is, how close do Ewoks resemble a tribe of mutant raccoons?

Are you hinting at the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Burrows?

As I recall, a Dev said the idea was to ridiculous so they scrapped the idea. (I read this somewhere, not sure where)

@Gizmo- Ba Dum Psh

@Thread- No. I do NOT want this to turn into the obnoxious forced pop culture ref game Fallout 2 was. Other Fallout references are obviously fine. But nothing outside the series if its a clear idea of what the ref is, a subtle or veiled idea is fine.

That's what I read aswell, and frankly, it is a bit ridiculous... if it hadn't been racoons, or if they just weren't little cute fluffy bears like the ewoks...

Hmmmm that is a good question!

Perhaps a mutant Mark Hamill / Ewok / Raccoon hybrid would make the very Best shotgun food...

"You've failed your highness, I'm a Raccooewoki! I will spout bad dialogue at you and eat your campers food while swinging away through the trees!"

Part of what made one and two so great was it was completely full of references to everything from the madmax leather jacket to the monty python bridge keeper to the boxer biting your ear off. I would love to see that brought to the extent it was before.

If they do put star wars references in there they'll probably be in random encounters.

Like a guy shooting a bandit he'd been chasing and being like "YOU KILLED MY FATHER!"
And the bandit would be like "No! I AM your father!"
"Noooooooo!"
