Star Wars references in NV

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:09 am

Was sick of the Star Trek references in the previous games, because I hate Star Trek. But I have nothing against people who like it.

How about some Star Wars reference? I don't mean a Darth Vader costume, but if you can be your own type of Sith Lord with a lightsaber and force perks?

The references in to Star Trek are fun for me but they did not give us weapons. We were to have a phaser but the Devs decided against it. So I don't want to find a Lightsaber. Also those would be pop-culture and you would need the "wild wasteland" trait.

No Lightsaber. The way they work is very strange. What tells the beam to stop at a certain point? They're too ridiculous even for Fallout.

In Mothership Zeta, Sally made a Star Wars quote on the trash compactor, but I think that was it.

It would be pretty funny to find the remains of C3-PO and R2-D2

Why not a Spaceballs reference? They could be so much more subtle. Just a radar screen that says "Mr Radar" next to a coffee machine at least.

I've never seen Star Trek before so any joke references go over my head. I have seen Star Wars though. Give me a lightsaber.

I wouldn't mind some Star Wars references. Perhaps a laser rifle that, when in the hands of the enemy, is horribly inaccurate, but when in the hands of your party members(And your own hands I suppose) it's highly accurate? Perhaps the Falcon crashed outside Primm? Mysterious Stranger has a minute chance of being replaced with Han?

No Lightsaber. The way they work is very strange. What tells the beam to stop at a certain point? They're too ridiculous even for Fallout.

Actually the blade containment is so simple it could be done right now with real world tech. It's a simple magnetic field affect that keeps the plasma in check. Building the devices needed to do this isn't feasible on such a small scale but it can be done, no different than how you'd contain the plasma in a Fusion reactor.

Though the generation of such plasma beam remains pretty ludicrous. :P

I wouldn't mind some random references if you take the Wild Wasteland trait.

Too much. Sorry, not trying to be a dike. Maybe some [censored] in brown robes and some kind of energy sword.

EDIT: That's assuming 'force perks' are perks that let you use the force... 'cause that doesn't make sense.

These aren't the droids you are working for, that's no moon. That'd be a funny thing to hear someone say. Perhaps footsteps and track marks near a sand dune with a large skeleton.

What, you mean FO3 wasn't one huge Star Wars reference? "Lone Wanderer...I'm your Father. Come with me to the Purifier Side..." Rebellion of Steel's Elder Ackbar recruiting you to stop the evil Darth Eden. Fawkes the Mutant Wookie. The Mos Paradise "hive of scum and villainy." :P

Perhaps one random night you encounter some NPCs that are quizzical over the moon. When you look up you see the Death Star up there.

The next night it's back to the same old moon, because apparently Earth is too badly screwed over for the Sith to be interested in.

I never really watched Star Trek to be quite honest, but most of friends I guess would qualify as Trekkie's because they are extremely obsessed with the series and play the online game.

The series I do know and love is Star Wars however (I grew up with the movie on in my home) so more references to Star Wars would be cool to me. :tops:
