Storm Call -_-

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 3:36 pm

I find it amazing that they expect the lightning to hit only enemies, and/or dragons in mid air! The description of stormcall would imply so such thing, and it appears to me that people do not even know how lightning works, the chances of a dragon getting hit in mid air by lightning is astronomical.

It's by far my favourite shout (three word version = awesome!) but yeah.. Never use if there are ANY friendly npc's anywhere within a 5 mile radius lol.

you contradicted yourself. You first say how you don't understand how people expect it to target only friendlies and say we don't know how lightning works but then say that a dragon (fictional) getting hit in mid air by lightning is astronomical. So you say it's not logical because it doesn't happen in the real world.. last time I checked dragons don't exist and dragonborns don't shout lightning storms. It has nothing to do with how lightning works it is how it works for this particular shout. If you want to argue that then chain lightning is also illogical because the targets are grounded and the electricity would go to the earth not the next moving target.

I'm assuming it also hits summons? Since this shout is pretty much designed for mages, and conjuration mages are really the only type of mage viable in the game...yeah, Bethesda kinda screwed up with this shout. And I was really excited for it pre-release, too.

This sounds like it should be a part of a molding project. Someone (who knows what they're doing, ie not me) should create a storm call shout that only targets the active agressors.

The way i see it is that magical electricity spells, are being controlled by the mage, whereas the storm call shout, never says it controls the lightning, just that it calls upon a storm.

It's definitely overrated, I'd be better off using Call Dragon or Call Valor.

I love it. I just don't cast it in towns or with friendlies around. I don't use companions because they all completely svck and actually make my game more difficult keeping track of them. I

Friendly fire is ok, but I find it rather annoying that the lightning ignores the best target more often than not. May be you can't control lightning, but at least make it act as lightning should, target the huge wet flying object more.

Think of it as like a mini-nuke in Fallout. It's going to slaughter everything in a pretty big area. Everything means everything. Honestly, I like the way to works. It feels more like you're summoning an actual storm, a wild, destructive force of nature. It's Thru'um, primal magic, not the controlled stuff a mage uses. You're just setting in in motion. After that, it's out of your control.

People saying I cant contol lighting realise my character caused said storm, and causes said storm to kill things right ? Instead of Using the shout nothing happening. Then a ingame month later, a stormjits a tree, maybe once every 5 ingame yearsit hits a person. The argument you cant control it, when you clearly can is just stupid.

Sure, makes perfect sense. In a game where we are expected to marry and/or have permanent or semi-permanent companions, pets, and horses, I'll just ignore the most powerful shout in the game because it destroys my friends, family, pets, and steed.

Makes sense to me.
Of course because you don't understand the fundamentals of economics. You cant always get what you want. Can't have your cake and eat it too. So pick one. Either solo with the shout or get a companion. Or pick both and defy economics and kill your companion. The choice is yours.

Yeah, summon a huge thunderstorm in a small village when everyone is outside.
What could possibly go wrong

I love this shout.... killed both an ancient dragon and an elder dragon in an encounter south of Riften with a level 3 storm shout.
