Talking deathclaws in OWB? A chance on a blue moon.

Could the return of talking deathclaws bring hope? or not?

If so, what will they say? what will the dialogue be?

That would be pretty cool, but the question from me is, would they be hostile?

I'd hate to have to splatter the brains of a talking deathclaw lol

Can't return, they're extinct, Goris and Xarn were the last survivors of the events of Fallout 2 and they never reproduced.
Talking/Intelligent Deathclaws were also created by the Enclave on the Oil Rig which means that it doesn't make sense for the data to be at the Big Empty either.

Only chances of seeing Deathclaws that can talk is if Goris and/or Xarn mated and brought forth a 2nd generation (which would have dropped in IQ) but what are the chances of this happening and the 2nd gen Int Deathclaws being at the Big Empty? Why would they be there in the first place?
Or that Hairy Deathclaws from Tactics make a return but they are far far far away from the Mojave or the Big Empty so that wouldn't make much sense either.

Those are the only options.
Bringing in Hairy Deathclaws from Tactics (which doesn't make a damn lick of sense) or having Goris and/or Xarn reproduce and conveniently have their offspring in Big Empty. (Which is very improbable.)

Depends on who is running the facility, enclave might be for all we know, or a more powerful entity, like no-one important. Ah, I don't know, might be enclave, so if there is enclave, whats the chances of talking deathclaws.

And i would like the chance said in a very humorous sentence.

Doesn't matter if it's Enclave.
The project was something that started post war when they were on the Oil Rig.
The research data along with most of their forces were blown to Narnia at the Oil Rig.
And it was a failed project, the Deathclaws did not obey them, that's the reason (speculation but it makes sense) for them developing the mind-control helmets in FO3 for regular deathclaws.

So even if it's controlled by Enclave or former Enclave the research data is still gone, the project was a failure, the FEV at Oil Rig is gone, what's left at Mariposa is either under rubble or in control by Shi or NCR and the project started post-war just after they discovered Mariposa.

There is no way for Enclave or former Enclave to develop intelligent/talking Deathclaws.

Like Colonel Martyr mentioned on another topic "OWB is looking like it's going to be one of those 'and now we'll show you the sick crap the government was doing before the War' kind of DLC's, "

It's possbile their are Deathclaws at the big empty along with FEV samples ( both pre-war) and that sometime over the last 200 years, the deathclaws escaped and were afffected by the FEV sample but doesn't mean they are friendly or can talk ( they are just smarter that normal ones)

EDIT: or Goris from Fallout 2 just travelled their, it's only been 40 something years since fallout 2 he could still be alive

1. How? The FEV was not suppose to be anywhere but West-Tek and Mariposa, and the project for Talking Deathclaws was conducted post war out at sea.
And how are some escaped deathclaws going to be able to talk from FEV? Splash some on each other while talking a bubble bath in it?
We have no idea of what other equipment Enclave used for this project, whether they bathed them in FEV, injected it or gassed them with it and were there any other tools used for this? (Or do we? Was some time since I read the bible.)

2. How convenient for Goris to find that exact location out of all the places there is in north america.

Or perhaps how convenient it is for us to find Goris out of all the places in North America. After all who would have thought Marcus would be making a return? Or Harold would be in DC?

(1)
1. yet it some how ended up in Vault 87 , the army could of taken samples for either place and stored them in the big empty
2. I never said they going to talk but as several poeple have visted BE they could of taught them
3. I'm 99% they just dipped them

(2) you never know, I liked Goris and would like to see him come back, other that Marcus he's also problary the only fallout 2 follower alive (not including robots)

Them returning and us seeing them again is convenient enough as it is nice to have reccuring(?) characters.
But Goris finding Big Empty? Which has FEV? And other Deathclaws? And we find them? That's a lot of convenient events.

1,1. Just read a small part of The Enclave's post in the Super Mutants thread in Series Discussion, apparently V87 was created 4 years prior to the creation of PIV/FEV. Bethesda might like making contradictions but I do believe that Obsidian and especially Chris Avellone will try to avoid them. FEV was only suppose to be at Mariposa and West Tek. Why would Enclave or pre-war government send FEV over to the Big Empty if they sent it to Mariposa? Mariposa was "the" study center for FEV after it was taken from West Tek, makes no sense why they'd send a small part of it to the Big Empty, what could the people at Big Empty do that the scientists at Mariposa couldn't?
1,2. So non-speaking friendly deathclaws? Don't see the point to it. They're meant to be scary monsters, abominations of the Great War, demons from the fires of hell, not something you could bring over for a cup of tea FEV bathed or not.
1,3. Seems rather crude don't ya think? Seems like Enclave didn't get too much FEV either as they were attacked by super mutants and went out of Mariposa in a hurry.

2. Oh I love Goris, wouldn't mind seeing "him" or Xarn again, but "other" talking/intelligent deathclaws? No thanks, bible said they went byebye.

All canonical facts aside, it's been done before. That's one reason alone for not bringing them back (I'm starting to hate that phrase. Cook something new instead of using leftovers.).

Of course they can, they could also add in an army of 100 feet tall rainbow coloured unicorns that shoots lasers out of their ass' but it would still be a bad idea.
And so is breaking the lore.

Talking deathclaws were a mistake and should not return in any given situation ever. That's my opinion.

This is not Marvel Comics nor DC. Lore is meant to be set and followed and added to. Not jerked around and broken until it's unrecognisably twisted and contradicted to the point of being irrelevant.

So your saying its ok if Nintendo rewrites Mario's history and saying he was in on the princess' kidnapping by Bowser just so she would like him? Or another Star Wars movie comes out saying Luke has no relation to Vader. He just went crazy after his Aunt and Uncle being murdered then the part about Vader being his dad and Jedi Knights just all in his head.

A story needs to be consistent. Otherwise why bother telling it?

You can cook something new by using leftovers, and so much could happen in the fallout universe. Like what are the chances that a courier can survive a gunshot to the head, kill their attacker and then be the primary element that decides how a freaking war ends? And yet it's a reach that a previous fallout creature finds it's way to the big empty?

If it's not set in stone, it can happen.

Talking deathclaws

BTW, the talking deathclaws were destroyed at the end of Fallout 2. Xarn and Goris did not go on to create a new species. They are gone. Kaput. Goodbye. In fact, any mutant animal that talks can safely be assumed to have died at the end at the exact minute that Fallout 2 was over.

Any last words, talking animals?

I thought not.

Poster: You said:
Quote: "BTW, the talking deathclaws were destroyed at the end of Fallout 2. Xarn and Goris did not go on to create a new species. They are gone. Kaput. Goodbye. In fact, any mutant animal that talks can safely be assumed to have died at the end at the exact minute that Fallout 2 was over."
Poster: But in previous update John Deiley said:

Quote: "In any case, there is a chance that two intelligent deathclaws survived to continue on the species. I realize that they are both males, but that is fine. When they were engineered by the Enclave, the intelligence gene was made male specific and dominant. What this means is: Any intelligent male that mated with a non-intelligent female would (most likely) produce intelligent offspring. Who is the true? BTW in FOT was a lot of talking deathclaws. "

Bible: The more recent update is the correct one. There are no more talking deathclaws after F2.
