TESV Acceleration Layer offers CPU optimization, massive pos

Where did you put the .dll to speed up load times?

My desktop :P I took it out so it couldnt be used at all, as when it was in the root folder it caused a very obvious increase in load time.

Seriously, SERIOUSLY hope bethesda puts this in a future patch.

This is AMAZING. I for one, hope you get hired by Bethesda so we know they have someone that knows how to optimize.

Wow.

Great job and thanks! :)

You're not supposed to put it in your root folder.

The plugin goes in Skyrim\Data\SKSE\plugins (a folder which won't exist if you've never used SKSE, so you'll have to make it).

No amazing improvement for me, but the game does seem smoother and load times are fine, great work.

This + New skyrim optimized nvidia driver = ?

It sure does equal  !!!! The new NVidia beta drivers (290.53) use a much less GPU intensive form of ambient occlusion which helped elliminate a lot of the stuttering I was getting. Also this CPU performance fix gave me a 20% increase in performance with a Core 2 Quad (Q6600 oc'ed to 3.3GHz). I couldn't be more thrilled, and can now play the game the way it should: without frustration from poor performance!

Remember my earlier posts? With my 5.50Gb of mods installed and i was complaining about massive stutterings in open areas like Whiterun area and cities ?

Well, now i've reinstalled Windows 7, put the latest nvidia driver, installed the mods, and started the game. Played quick until i've arrived in the Whiterun area. Arrived there, moved the mouse around, and big surprise no stutterings !!! :)

Nothing, and i have all the mods installed and enabled, 5.50gb of graphical mods, massive mods. And no stutterings. And then i've checked the VRAM usage, the VRAM was the same, 1.26Gb used, basically all my video card ram is used (gtx570).

Ok, the big question !?!?!

Earlier, i was dowing the same thing, and i had massive stutterings, and you said it's because the VRAM is 100% usage. And now, i did the same things, install game, install mods (put the textures folder in the Data folder) started the game, and play, and no stutterings. No driver modifications, no alternative mods to increase performance, same VRAM usage with mods.

This is a anomaly or what ?

Or the game now loaded some how the mods and now it;s all ok ?

I wouldn't be surprised to see it as one of the Steam news items in the near future.

I get a significant FPS improvement in cities with the patch.

I can't believe Bethesda compiled without optimization flags. If full optimization results in some kind of problem with their code base (and I'm willing to give them the benefit of doubt on that, even gamesas wouldn't disable optimizations for no reason at all) then there has to be a better way to deal with it. Either fix the problem, disable only the specific optimization causing it or at the very least move the offending code to a separate translation unit and only compile that one without optimization.

Holy [censored]. This makes me wonder what could be done by running the code through one of those research binary optimizers.

In any case, thanks to the authors!

Before they locK this OMFG..Thank you Thank you....

I can give you a ton of stats but none of that matters ...I get to Turn on OA!!!!!!!

With ever version of the Patch I tried OA and got this stutter that made me sick to my stomach. even yesterday when i installed the New Nvidia driver (made for Skyrim) and that Gave my GPU a boost. Usage went down considerbly. IE: usual usage for my card would climb to 100 % at around an hour in and stay that way till i closed it anywhere from 8 hours to 19 hours., but i could sill not turn on OA. the Jitter was still there.

I installed SKSE and this , went into game and checked the hotspots..nice..Lookin at tree(whiterun) went from 25 to 35 FPS !!

Exit game and for the hell of it fired up Nvidia inspector and enabled AO.

What can i say...the stutter is gone. I know where to load and go to see the stutter at its worst. Its not there...

Thank you again!!! I finally get to keep my OA!!! you guys are fixing things you dont even know!!!

Hmm I post some of my results i found out after patch 1.1 and patch 1.3:

Version 1.1 with mod LAA gives me smooth gameplay with fast mouse movement, fps around 34. (memory usage= ~65%, cpu usage= ~25%)

Version 1.3.10 with official LAA gives me less smooth gameplay because of slow mouse movement, fps around 34. (memory usage= ~75%, cpu usage= ~25%)

Version 1.3.10 with the SKSE Plugin installed from the OP gives me less smooth gameplay with slow mouse movement, fps around 38!! (memory usage= ~75%, cpu usage= ~25%)

The fps are all measured with the same save file.
So comparing apples to apples i think the plugin is good but the latest patch is causing the game to choke on itself, this might be due to not emptying the memory as i see the results of memory usage.

Hope this comes to any help..

Will this help "ugrids to load =7" to become even more stable?

ugrids settings are in the .ini file, what this basicly does is increase the area of details u can see. For instance u would see a building with a distance of 20 meters with ugrids=5, but with ugrids=7 u will see the building on 35 meters. So as u can probably deduce a higher ugrid setting will need more of ur ram. And might cause more instabilities

Wow, worked wonders. FPS seems better everywhere, and yeah it is most definitely noticeable in Markarth. Used to be I'd get sub 20 fps looking at certain areas of the city, now it runs smooth and there is no noticeable drop.

Just wanted to verify, installed less then 5 minutes ago, have only rock and water texture mods installed + FXAA Injector <3 . Never had a need for ENB.

I must say APPROVED! In whiterun i have yet to see below 30 FPS, except at the stairs looking down, it hovered between 27 and 28.

Markarth was much improved as well!

Download this! + + + + !!!

Just want to add my voice that initial testing confirms a definite (and noticeable) gain in performance within Riverrun and Riften (the two places I randomly loaded). Now that I know I'm likely GPU-bound (which is to be expected on my hardware), I can try out some more tweaking - I've been afraid to play with graphical settings/mods as I couldn't get a feel for what was causing slowdowns. I would have never guessed the reason being an un-optimized build eating CPU cycles!

Many thanks to the creators of this!

This is complete conjecture, but it could be that the stuttering was related to streaming assets from a fragmented drive. Or it could just have been a previously "dirty" OS, with background services etc. taking up resources.
