I think it's called the natural progression of nature. There is a surplus and then eventually that surplus dies off from not enough food. This equilibrium is achieved.

I just miss the funnier members of the forum like The Green Sentinel, Yasumi, Sheika, and sometimes Lord Hyamentar. I remember always looking forward to their posts because they always made me laugh.

I remember in 2009 I believe when it was just about the same ~50 members constantly talking on CD. It got to recognize most of the people by avatar and everything, now ... there's so many new people. It's just not the same.

I didn't read the thread, so pardon if it's been said...

1) there hasn't been the depth of topics to keep interest

2) I noticed it too; it happened the same time Skyrim was announced

It's a bit slow, I guess. CD goes through natural highs and lows like this though. I guess a few people have probably been distracted by Skyrim and are spending more of their time over there.

I'm getting a little sick of that section. It's just repeats of the same five or six threads over and over with only a handful of diamonds in the rough.

I also have notices the slow down on the forums. I have been fairly busy lately, so I havent been posting. Mostly lurking in the threads. Usually I sign in anonymous, so I never appear to be here. I really stay out of most of the threads unless they have to do with hardware-software issues, especially in the Skyrim section. I dont want to read anything about the game yet.

Yea I haven't seen any good debates in a while, not that I really partook in them but they where fun to read.

The problem is it's difficult to have any sort of debate without someone spitting the dummy or taking third party offence, so any threads which could nurture interesting discussion go into lockdown before you can say "actually, I disagree...".

+1bn for the avatar :D

Yes, it is rather tiresome. Without much new information, it's mainly just "Should Umbra Be In Skyrim!?" threads and other such tripe. Also, hard to have any meaningful discussion, since disagreeing with the vocal softcoe lot just gets you labelled as "someone who can't accept change" or some other such attempted put-down.

They were good times. It was pretty awesome because I knew everyone back then, but now I see a lot of new people (not that I have anything against then, it's just different...)

I have good memories about all the debates this forum has. Specifically the ones relating to life outside of Earth. They always spark a good argument.

I seem to do a lot more lurking than I used to. Perhaps the upcoming Werewolf game will make me more active....

Yeah, it CD has been dead for a while. I can pratictly see a tumbleweed passing by...I really enjoyed CD, as this was where all the meme's come from, like Vinegar Ra, Bro and the quote, "Cool story bro."

Now that New Vegas is released, the Fallout 3 boards are a ghost town, and the Fallout Series Discussion board is just plain unpleasant to be in unless you're on the side of the aisle that thinks Bethesda and Fallout 3 svck. If that's the case, it's paradise! The Skyrim board isn't very enjoyable either, because people are either arguing with each other, making handfuls of threads for a single GI update or snippet of info, or trying to get their supa kewl ideas into the game. Oh, and disregarding lore if you don't agree with it, of course, I mean that's practically a sport there.

But Community Discussion has been like this for a while, it's just slightly less active. At least, I don't think I've seen much of a big change. Game discussion threads, relationship threads, tech help threads, threads about a random depressing news story, threads about a random science related story, threads about the paranormal that usually get flamed to hell, game recommendation threads... it's always been the same old same old in Community Discussion, at least as far back as I can remember. Admittedly I've only been here for two years, so I was never around for "the way it used to be" that older members speak of.

I've been scouring the Skyrim board, although there is no meaningful discussion going on right now. There's no new info anyway.

Cool story bro isn't actually from CD, but that isn't to say we don't have memes. JAHO, Vinegar Ra, Gears of.... And the in-jokes like witty things to say about strawberries :P

The Skyrim board is just full of bad ideas, regurgitation of the same threads, and obsessing over what little we know. The sad part is, it'll stay practically the same until release.

I'd have to agree that CD hasn't changed much, it's just some of the people have and from what I've seen, replies are coming slower.

Yeah, this has become quite slow lately. New Vegas section did quiet down surprisingly quickly, and the modding section slowed down even faster than Fallout 3 one :( I suppose that was because it wasn't a traditional Bethesda openworld exploration game

Well, it'll speed up once Skyrim is released, once the Skyrim vs Oblivion and Skyrim vs Morrowind, not to mention lovers vs haters threads start rolling, you'll be hoping it was this quiet :P And before that we have the "include this from Morrowind/Oblivion" that inevitably turn into Oblivon vs Morrowind threads, not to mention platform wars... :shakehead:

Best to avoid the Skyrim section for about a year, methinks.

Yep, it slowed down as soon as Skyrim was announced. Might as well close 'er down and make the moderators job a bit easier. ;)

I'm relatively new on the Beth fora, came for FNV, but it always makes me sad when I get used to a place being part of my daily routine and it starts to drop off. And when the subject I like slows down to a crawl I may lurk a lot for a while but don't say much. :) Also in the camp of not wanting to read the Skyrim forums just yet.

I've been checking in CD over the last couple months, but I'm neither a debater or a techie, so usually not much for me to jump into....yet.

I seen down turns as bad as maybe 30 members on the entire forum, and half of them were in the MW mod forum. Nearly 70% of us that come to the CD are here for TES, and within another month most that have jumped onto the Skyrim GD will return here for convalescence recovering from a brain aneurysm.
