The main quest of dawnguard is 10 to 20 hours long, NOT THE

don't know if someone mentioned it already, but it should be noted Matt also said it is as long as a faction questline. And they were pretty lackluster. Just saying.

10-20 Hours of main story. Meaning it's still not counting the crossbows, Vampire Lords, Side Quests (you know there's at least going to be one. It's a Bethesda game), perks, the new shout, mounts, etc. That's at least 30 hours total, including main story, if you want to max out the perk tree, at least that's my guess.

That's the length it takes for me to get to the end of Fallout New Vegas with no side quests done. You're getting an entire GAME added to another, great game.
It certanly will be a good expansion.

I've hit well over 300+ and haven't done everything as well. I personally think you're totally ignoring exploration as a content and mechanical device in Skyrim. I've got friends that did that too, I pity those with such a narrow perspective on this game.

Additionally, 10-20 hours for the main quest probably takes into account replaying it as both Dawnguard and Volkihar.
Agreed there are those that do not understand the scope of ES games lol.
I have logged about three to four hundred hours in this game over the course of several characters. Yes I make new a new one for the new patch to bug test but when this game gets its final patch I will make several characters and I will make three main characters and log a several thousands of hours in this game. With some characters I just explore and never do quest unless its the ones forced on you if you wish to buy a house but that it.

It adds a few new whole areas IN skyrim. also there extending the rift and Solitude, it appears there adding a massive add to the coast of the sea of ghosts.
So they are attaching a landmass to the base game in the coast of Skyrim well that is certainly very promising indeed here is to it being a massive landmass.

I just realized something, will both faction quest lines will be 10-20 hours each? Or is it 10-20 hours combined?
I would assume each. They wouldn't stretch it as far as to count multiple playthroughs as one single total.

Todd Howard was likely talking about the expansion pack as a whole. It's around 10 hours if you rush through it and try to complete the main quest as quickly as possible; it's +20 hours if you take your time with the main quest and play through the DLC as a completionist.

Im not talking about Todd im talking about Gstaff, he was interview by gamespot and he said the main quest was 10-20 hours, and said there wasalso a huge amount of side quests that were being added.

Does it matter?

Every player goes through content at a different rate.

Usually I get expansions well before I've burnt out the main game, so the new content just slots into my existing game and becomes part of it rather than an addition.
In Fallout 3 I got everything at the same time (for my birthday, my girl... she's cool), I never knew for sure what quests were actually DLC additions... it was all just one big game.

I'm at 200+ hours total in Skyrim with 3 characters and I can think of loads of things I've never seen or done yet, DB, Civil War, all the ship wrecks, playing a mage, the main quest itself (only ever did as far as visiting the Greybeards).

I could start the main questline in Dawnguard and get distracted after 2 quests, go off and do the civil war or just explore, I may just become a vampire lord and then run to the hills to begin my own personal reign of terror on the holds... I'm confident that whatever arbitrary number people try to apply to the amount of content in the DLC it will still take me months to get through it... not that I'll be keeping count.

Some people may not give a hoot about the Vamps Vs DG storyline but still feel all the other content added is worth their money and they buy the DLC for crossbows and blue flaming horses etc... how do you measure the "amount" of content they get in hours and minutes?

10-20 hours is great considering I'll spend hundreds of hours enjoying the new rewards while doing other things.

I think 10-20 hours is plenty considering that its the first dlc coming out, and i bet me and thousands of other people will spend them 10-20 hours just exploring the dlc.

All we need are fist weapons, they'd be so easy to implement as well.

And yes I know PC has them with mods.

Really? On one character, I've basically done everything on half the map with only about 90-100.

Meh, anyway, Dawnguard's main quest should be at least twice the length of one of the longer Faction Quests, with actual depth and choices too for once.

you sir, need to put down skyrim and go play something like COD. you must have a low attention span to if your able to rush through a masterpiece like skyrim..its not meant to be rushed through, try not fast travelling, and taking the sights in for a change, they in their own rite are "things to do" which immerse you in the game as much as any plot

haha, even with fast travel on only my return trips to whiterun, my most recent character is at almost 115 hours. and i've barely done anything. and most definitely, bethesda doesn't make short games, they make commitment games... well that hunted game was kind of short, but it was lots of fun too.

I do RP. Just read the DID threads. My point was that Bethesda love to make out that their products have many more hours to the average gamer than they do.

I dont fast travel, but not doing so just to make questlines longer is just an artificial method of lengthening the experience.

There are perks for both the Vampire Lord and the werewolves.
Well there is some new ones also for the crossbow in archery.
I do hope we get more so we have more ways to expand our characters.

your fault if you don't rp at all. :-/

This is a problem for many

theres new perks?

Entire perk trees for both Vampire and Werewolf

Not doing the main quests in each questline one after another also helps. Break it up with some radiant quests or go do some random quests.

I don't think there are new archery perks. I believe Todd said "the nice thing about crossbows is that they tie into the existing archery perks" I'm paraphrasing, but I don't recall anyone saying that there were crossbow specific perks.

Really then I got some misinformation on here I missed that interview I was under the impression there would be some crossbow related perks.

He did say there was some things he was going to keep quiet about. He completely sidestepped the whole "snow elf" issue, for one thing. What's to say they won't add some crossbow specific perks?

It was confirmed on the Machinma interview a few minutes ago, he said that there going to be alot of new locations and side quests, so you people can breath a sign of relief....
Did they say exactly how big it is going to be? Is it the same size as SI?

There could be, but I don't think there will be because level 81 characters won't be able to unlock them.

I am thinking we might get some new perks and it would make sense that crossbow specific ones be added seeing as the crossbow and bow function differently. I hope we get a few new perks fitted around the trees, thay would give farther incentive to make a new character.
