the most useless shout in skyrim

I agree it works as intended. You just called up a major big-[censored] storm! Do the clouds know who are enemies and who are friends?

They must be intelligent clouds to know they have been called to do battle!

I like Kyne's peace. It's in the game to allow you to avoid fighting wolves and mudcrabs if you're not in the mood. I'm not sure why we need Kyne's Peace AND Animal Allegiance, though. They could easily have been merged into the same shout. (That is, animals run away in the first iteration, are neutral in the second, and allied in the last.)

well, shouts suppose to be support skill. not a one shot nuke that send all enemy to oblivion..

I agree. these are not nuclear weapons. It`s an enhancement, a word that actually affects the world physically, that`s all.

I have a few shouts and I have found none of them rubbish. They all have a tactical use if you`re smart.

The shout which knocks them back is usefull for giving yourself a moment to think.
The super-speed shout is good for getting at something fast, but not only that, helps you to get to in accessible areas or avoid enemies.
The hippy animal peace Shout is useful to avoid having to kill all the local wildlife.
The Aggressive shout helps me swing my slow 2-hander much faster.
I think Fire has been the least effective for me, but it`s still useful against Trolls.
The Ethereal Shout, well that`s kinda obvious...

I`m sure the rest will be very useful too, with thought.

I like the way it`s done. I still wanted to be basically a Human warrior in the game, not a god.

Don't tell companions to wait, then use area of effect murder by weather spell, then companions suffer. Is that a fault of the game, or the player's need to use their companions more tactically?

Kyne's Peace and Animal Allegiance are the most useless in my opinion. By the time they would be useful, like having to deal with a cave bear at level 5, you dont′s have them and by the time you have them, you eat animals for breakfast.

Though I′m a sneaky character I doubt the usefulness of throw voice as well. Shooting arrows against the wall yields the same effect without a cooldown.

I agree with you OP.... You can't use storm call unless your in the middle of no where and have no friendly npcs/followers/dogs/summons/thralls with you.... The most awesome looking shout yet i never use it................. The first time i used it after waiting so long to use it, and it kills off all my allies and none of my enemys............... *sigh*

What Stormcall needs is a safe zone around the player, like for the guardian circle spell.

I really enjoy using stormcall, but only for entertainment though...and it's cool. First time I seriously used it, thinking I could frazzle a dragon flying around that wouldn't come down to fight, I wasted a significant amount of the population of Riverwood, then heard Lydia sing out "Not this way" before staggering into the river, and getting washed down the waterfalls getting zapped on the way...I eventually found her body up near Whiterun. Needed a reload, but it was waaaay entertaining...

Shame it can't be used underground either...would be ace to use to clear some of those big grotto's...

I use Dragonrend. That's pretty much it. I tried throw voice for a while (possibly the silver hand quest with Aela) and got jolly annoyed cos she (Aela) would go "Huh?", stand up, and run off to look at the place I aimed the shout. Not much help there Aela. I now use arrows instead.

But most of my characters are casters or stealthy types. My casters are generally happy with throwing fireballs around, so firebreath is a bit superfluous. And if you're trying to be stealthy AND running around shouting, I fear you're doing something wrong.

My Ug-Bash-Faces character... well I just never remember to use them, because my other characters have such infrequent need of them.

Saying Throw Voice is useless is like saying Elemental Fury is useless. It depends on your character.
Throw Voice is particularily helpful to backstab someone with its back against a wall/corner. It's very efficient, though it must be used carefully in order not to bring it on you. But it works pretty well. It's also absolutely great for infiltration in well-guarded mansions, to pass without killing anybody.

Maybe it's because I did the MQ (and unlocked shout) only when my characters passed lvl 40-50 but I've NEVER EVER been able to use Throw Voic. Not a damn single NPC, no matter the level, reacted to it. I'm still continuing to use the arrow trick as it seems to always alert NPC and moster to the sound of a ricocheting arrow

The demo also had a dragon instantly killing a giant, when in the actual game said dragon would have been utterly smashed.
Depends what level you are and what kind of dragon it is. If the player is higher level elder+ dragons will own an entire giant camp and the mammoths. If your level 1 and it's just a plain dragon, then yes a giant would do some major damage to the dragon.

As for storm call it's not bad if your out in the wilderness and have no companions. Otherwise if you come into a settlement and its still active, you'll get huge bounty and have the town hate your guts because it affects friendlies. Might as well go knife everyone in town in the back, it's the same effect. Lame.

But I'd say Kyne's peace is pretty worthless, next to frost breath. Ice form owns frost breath big time.

That one that makes you attack fast is garbage too because it only works with non-enchanted weapons. Who in the hell doesn't use magical weapons except for level 1-10 characters? And level 1-10 are over in about 2 hours.

They're pretty much all useless. Dragonrend is the only useful one which makes the boring dragon-battles a little less annoying.

That's strange. I assume you do the whole shout from an undetected position? It's been working from 9 to 30+ for me.

I do. I haven't found any enchantments to be worthwhile compared to the raw weapon damage you can achieve.

Call Dragon has been the most useless for me. For whatever reason my dragon just goes around in circles for a minute or two and takes off. Never attacks anything, it's quite annoying.

Well, the one in the demos was always the basic, low level brown kind somehow managing to toss a giant.

ive never had disarm work... though i only have the first word. still ive tried it bout ten times. the faster blades one too is pretty dang pointless as my weapons always have enchantments.. (except my bow, should try it on my bow... though just enchanting my bow is prob better). storm call has helped me out alot, though i refuse to use companions. the fire breath one is getting some guff but i used that one alot, many enemies in the game take lots of damage from it. anyways i pretty much like all the shouts, certain ones are only really great in the right situation, but if that situation doenst arise ill just make it happen to try it out.

I really don't think any of the shouts are useless I just think it depends on the char you have and the circumstances.

My 1st char found storm call very useful, the 2nd char not at all, cause she almost alway's has a follower, and i'm pretty sure my 3rd char will find it very useful ( she hasn't found it yet though).

My non-magical warrior finds Fire breath to be very helpful against trolls. My Spellsword had a spell that was much better.

I think alot of the shouts are tatical suport weapons or at least thats the way I think of them.

Two trolls attacked my warrior at once, Dismay came in very handy. Hit one of the trolls the other ran away. Killed one, chased the other down and killed it also. At the lvl she was at, she couldn't take the damage from two trolls at once.

Are you kidding, the elemental enchantment does 1/3 of the damage of my weapon. Not to mention soul trap.

I use KP all the time, but I've not bothered upgrading. It's nice because 90% of the time, as a paladin, I'd rather put my fighting skills elsewhere than just fighting animals. It lasts a long while too. AA though is pretty useless - mostly because followers will still attack and fight the animals and most animals aren't numerous in an area to actually be useful.

Most worthless IMO is definatly the fire/frost breath. It does almost no damage even at full power, and has a massive cooldown.

I need to start using Etheral more in my fights with hard enemies  I always forget it exists until I need to jump down somewhere.

EDIT: For me, the most useless shout though would be Dismay, since Nords already have an ability that works just like it and works for every single enemy in the game, include dragons and bosses.

I agree - every enchanted weapon I've seen was always a tier or two below the weapons I'd find. I have an Ebony greatsword now, the best I can find enchated would be something orcish or dwarven - and usually the enchantments are totally useless like making undead run away when they are level 12 (I'm level 30...).

I can see how it can be useless though if you exploit crafting mechanics to get uber enchants - but by then you really don't need any shout, because you decided to exploit the game into mega easy mode.
