Fun fact:

Remaining seeds in the East are 1, 5, 6, 7. Remaining seeds in the West are 2, 3, 4, 8. Total opposite.

7 for 8 (not counting my guesses for how many games they would take) ain't too shabby

Good for the Panthers though. I didn't think they'd win but they proved me wrong.

Whoops, i though Florida won for some reason. But I still went 7 for 8 :P

I see every series being even more even on paper now. Well, except for Philly-NJ - Philly should win it easily this time, after Pittsburgh. Phoenix vs. Nashville... the one that can do the necessary scoring will win. If Radim Vrbata returns to his regular season form, it could very well be Phoenix. One thing's for sure: we aren't seeing many goals in this one. Still, I think it's Nashville in about 6.

New York vs. Washington - New York in 6
Philadelphia vs. New Jersey - Philadelphia in 5

St. Louis vs. Los Angeles - Los Angeles in 7 (!)
Pheonix vs. Nashville - Nashville in 6

Honestly, those Western match-ups looks faaar more interesting then the Eastern ones. Both Western series' will be fine examples of what good defensive play and hot goaltending can get accomplished in the playoffs.

And Phoenix wins 4-3! I'll admit, I'm surprised. I didn't expect more than 3 goals from either team...

Ray Whitney remains the most under-rated player in the NHL for me.

After a rusty first the Flyers have awaken. Briere being Briere and JVR getting his first of the playoffs. If he gets going to the Devils are screwed even more than they are now.

Gorgeous shot by Giroux to take the 3-2 lead.

Also nice to hear the NBC guys say that Giroux is in the top 3 players in the NHL.

Ovechkin finally showing that Russian swag.

I really hope they can overcome the Rangers and get right to playing the Flyers.

Although a big part of me predicts a Flyers vs Kings Stanley Cup Final.

I have been seriously considering the Kings lately, and not just from a fans point of view. But I think Flyers will stumble with Bryz still not impressing. That Sykora goal was... well questionable.

Yeah. It's awesome to root for a team who's goalie you don't trust one single bit. I can tell, I was frightened during that Sykora's half break-away. I had no confidence in Bryzgalov whatsoever in that situation. Seeing him not get down on Sykora's fake shot, I somehow knew that Sykora will score through five-hole, and that's exactly what happened. Luckily our offense shower once again they're the best in the world right now and managed to pull it through.

You who think Kings is going far this year, let me say you one word. Kopitar. IMO for the last 2-3 years he has been one of the best centers in the world, top 5 for sure. The guy is freaking outstanding offensive hockey player! If only he had some of the best wingers with him, he could be even better. The whole team has been outstanding, though, great defending as a team and great goaltending in Quick. Too bad about Bernier not seeing much ice time as is, he could be a starter in the NHL right now - he is one of many of those backups - and I personally like him a lot. Anyway, I would not be surprised if the Kings went to conference finals. Or finals. Or heck, won the cup.

Nah. Philly or Rangers will. Somehow I think there are better teams in the west overall (you can see it year after year in the regular season standings) but east mainly has the top 1-3 teams in the league. The aren't many teams at the very peak, but they usually come from east, even if west is tougher all in all.

No Kovy tonight for the Devils, not that he did anything in the first game.

On the whole Bryz situation, while he let in that one shaky goal against Sykora don't forget he was the only reason he Flyers didn't get buried in the first period. He was clearly the only guy who showed up ready to play. He hasn't been outstanding but he's been good enough considering how good the Flyers are offensively. Which now they are even better with JVR back and looking good. Plus Grossmann is back and Mez could be back later in the series which is great news for their D.

I'm starting to think the Flyers have a legitimate chance at the Cup with they way they've been playing. Even the Rangers are looking a little less scary and I don' think the western teams have the experience it's going to take to beat one either the Rangers or Flyers.

He's been good at points, but the Flyers have yet to play good goaltending. Brodeur is shaky as well, lets face it. If your Flyers come up against the Rangers and Lundqvist (sp? lol), or any of the goalies in the West in the Finals since every Western team has dominant goaltending compared to the East, then they may be in trouble.

Well, yes and no. I don't think any remaining western goalies or Lundqvist would've let those shots in, either. Besides, well, I didn't really follow him when he was still in the Coyotes, but at least now he moves... oddly. He looks slower, I think he is much slower than any other top-notch goalie left, and somehow I get a feeling that it has only to do with technique and self-confidence. That same guy couldn't have what-a-save-d Coyotes to the playoffs year after year in Phoenix!

Of course I didn't even see any Flyers games from March when Bryz played well. Can't really do comparison here.

Instead I kind of agree with with BladeMaster07 that, if you truly win Cups with good goaltending, Flyers are in major trouble against the Rangers or any remaining western team really. Then again, Flyers' very productive offense and will to come back could be enough in the end, nonetheless. If the Flyers send the Devils packing, it'd be more than exciting to see them against (supposedly) world-class goaltending for the first time in these playoffs.

In Phoenix he was a huge part of them making the playoffs but during the playoffs he had his struggles.

For the most part the remaining offenses in the playoffs are pretty average. Still a great goalie can shut down even the best offensive teams like the Flyers. I just have tough time believing anyone outside of the Rangers can shut the Flyers down. I have faith in Bryz, in the past 3 games hes played well and I think he'll only get better now that he's building confidence and injured players are returning.

Well I'd say Smith, Rinne and Quick have all played better than Lundqvist (who has still been quite good) during the playoffs so I'd be more worried about playing those teams in the Final then the Rangers in the Eastern Finals.

Eh no offense but I'm not all that scared of the Kings. Great defensive team and Quick is a beast but offensively they are not that threatening. Being 1 of the only two teams not to reach 200 goals on the season coupled with the fact that the Flyers top 2 scorers alone have more than half of what the entire Kings line up has had in more games.Pretty much the same can be said of Phoenix. Look at what the Flyers did 2 years ago with an far less talented offense against guys like Thomas and Halak. The way this offense has been playing has been incredible. They simply don't have a fourth line.Despite the Rags being a bit shaky so far they still had the Flyer's number all year, which is why I find them much more intimidating. I'm not saying it would be easy for the Flyers against the likes of the Kings or Yotes but I think the Flyers are the superior team.

Why is Kenny Alberts announcing the game?

No offense taken, I'm not a blind fan :P

Maybe not the Kings, but if the Flyers had to play St. Louis, Nashville or Phoenix in the Finals, I wouldn't put money on Philly simply because their defense and goaltending hasn't impressed me. Their offensive depth is what carried them past a weak defensive Penguins team, and beating New Jersey shouldn't be an accomplishment in any sense. But if they want to win the Cup, they're going to have to play at least one good defensive team from the West (if New York gets beat by Washington somehow), and the way the Flyers play is not Cup material in any form, no offense.
