New York vs. Ottawa - Ottawa leads 3-2
Boston vs. Washington - Series tied 3-3
Florida vs. New Jersey - Flordia leads 3-2
Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia - Philadelphia wins 4-2

Vancouver vs. Los Angeles - Los Angeles leads 3-1
St. Louis vs. San Jose - St. Louis wins 4-1
Phoenix vs. Chicago - Pheonix Leads 3-2
Nashville vs. Detroit - Nashville Wins 4-1

Awesome finish by Seguin. About time he used his flashy skills to win a game for us. Just as a side-note, I though the referees weren't too good in this one, going both ways. That hooking penalty called on Washington was very weak, as was the holding the stick on Kelly. The only one they got right was Ovechkin for high-sticking. Not to mention the constant arbitrariness of centers getting thrown out of faceoffs...

And I'm glad to see Philly win (I said what? ) because the Pens didn't deserve any better in this series. They got outplayed in pretty much every aspect of the game. MAF might be as overrated as Crosby. :P

For you Flyers fans, there's an interesting article by Bob McKenzie about giving Giroux the C:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=393937
Give Giroux his due

I don't think there's any question that the Philadelphia Flyers are now definitively http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=claude+giroux's team.

Put the 'C' on his sweater right now.

We don't expect http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=chris+pronger back anytime soon if at all and http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=claude+giroux proved in the playoff series win over Pittsburgh why he means so much to the Flyers.
Over the course of the regular season http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=evgeni+malkin was the best player in the NHL while Giroux was one of the top two or three along with http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=steven+stamkos. In this series there was no question Giroux was the best player on the ice.

In the big picture of the series 14 points in six games is an unbelievable performance.
But in Game 6 in particular, when things were starting to slide for the Flyers, it was Giroux who on the first shift of the game set the tone. He knocked down http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=sidney+crosby and scored the goal for the Flyers.

Giroux talked about the pressure before the game and how he wanted to embrace it and he did.

He was the difference maker in so many regards in this series.

Western conf semifinals are pretty much decided:

(2) St. Louis Blues vs. (8) LA Kings
(5) Nashville Predators vs. (3) Phoenix Coyotes/(6) Chicago Blackhawks

The Flyers didn't finish that early in 6 but they will have a nice break.

Caps may not have been able to close out the series but at least the Kings got the job done.

Amen. I think the Bruins experience (3 game 7 wins last year) will help them on Wednesday.

The Bruins have stumped me so far these playoffs, but they also did similar stuff last playoffs. Can't wait to watch Game 7.

I'm hoping the Bruins can pull it off but otherwise pulling for the Senators and Panthers to finish their series' off.

A couple friends of mine think a Senators upset over the Rangers would be surprising but I don't think they've seen the Rangers I've seen over the years to expect postseason failure. Panthers are a sheer surprise and are more like just trying to get as far as they can go. If it does wind up a Bruins-Senators, Panthers-Flyers semifinals, the Panthers luck very likely stops there. I'd love to see a Bruins/Flyers conference finals, but I wouldn't complain seeing the Senators make it either.

Just going in my head over possible East scenarios:

Rangers-Flyers, Bruins-Panthers
Rangers-Flyers, Bruins-Devils
Rangers-Caps, Panthers-Flyers
Rangers-Caps, Flyers-Devils
Bruins-Senators, Panthers-Flyers
Bruins-Senators, Flyers-Devils
Panthers-Senators, Flyers-Caps
Flyers-Senators, Devils-Caps

Statistically speaking the Flyers have a higher probability of playing the Rangers, Panthers, or Devils from odds via seed placement, but with two teams facing elimination, odds are obviously more in favour (presuming the current teams facing elimination get eliminated) of the Flyers playing either the Panthers or the Caps.

For you Flyers fans, there's an interesting article by Bob McKenzie about giving Giroux the C:

I'm glad he's been able to mature without all the media hassle. He's been able to concentrate on his game and nothing else. I don't know what kind of a guy he would be with the C, if it suits him. At this point I'd see Briere or Timonen being a better captain. Timonen seems cool as a cucumber, nothing seems to affect him. I don't know how good he would be at giving an occasional speech or so...

I think it's better this way. If Pronger does come back, he's still the Captain for Philly.

Hey, I still believe in the Capitals! Holtby is great, and, hey, Semin is again in the contract year... he will play like crazy. And on those rare occasions he does so, he's one of the best players out there.

Speaking from a purely neutral point, I think the Kings have St. Louis beat. That's why I wanted L.A. to finish 7th more then 3rd or 8th, because I though St. Louis would be a pushover, in a manner of speaking. It's still gonna be a tough series, but Quick is riding high and I think St. Louis has less offensive weapons then the Canucks for sure.

Will watch the Rangers game tonight. They are my Cup favorites... can't believe they're losing to something like Ottawa.

Is it just me, or is the reffing the Sens/Rangers game tonight brutal? Seriously, that call on Foligno was weak. Multiple missed calls (mostly on the Rangers).

This one's going to Game 7, so there's two.

Hawks/Coyotes is scoreless atm which isn't the least bit surprising.

So the Coyotes will play the Preds, I'll be cheering for the Central Division teams' (Blues/Preds) opponents even though I think the conf finals for the West will be Blues vs Preds. Go Coyotes and Kings.

Jesus, there's a 2 day break between Game 6 and 7 for the Senators/Rangers, meaning the East won't be decided until Thursday night.

Edit: I also sense a Shanaban for a boarding call that led to the Coyotes 3rd goal on a 5 minute major power play, even though the Coyotes player's stupidity in turning toward the glass helps the situation in possibly getting hurt.

This is why I don't want suspensions tied to injury, because there are idiots in the NHL who help themselves get injured by doing stuff like this.
