Elz-vier. At least that's how I hear it. It sounded that way in Skyrim to me.

It's definitely pronounced "~Else-Where" in game. As to whether it was always intended to be that way (Given that it was concieved in a text only age) is hard to say. But I'd still imagine so.

But it's always tricky when any Fantasy character, creature or place name has a 'y' placed in it, in this way.

Take the fantasy creature The Wyvern. A creature from British Folklore. And pronounced in British tongue as "Why-Verne". Always has been.

But as with Dragons these Legendary creatures made there way into fantasy novels and gaming in a very much text oriented age. Without a clear pronunciation other regions of the world saw the word and incorrectly pronounced it as "Wivven". Not their fault. In their own region other such similarly spelled words were pronounced that way, and they had no aural reference to correct them.

These kind of things are often debated, until somebody has an aural reference point from the creator of the property using the word in their fantasy world.

I thought it was "Else way-r".

Edit:
I'm pretty sure dialogues in MW weren't voiced, just the introductory lines.

no no, you missunderstand...

The dialogue I refer to was text, when questioned about his background he told me "I come from Elsewhere" or something similar. He actual said 'elsewhere' not 'Elsweyr'
I figured it was an intentional joke on behalf of the Khajiit. Forget his name, but it definatly made me laugh.

(puts on sunglasses)

I thought it was Else-weer

"Elsewhere" just sounds stupid to me. I do not want it to be the setting for the next game because of that alone.
It does seem to be somewhere between Else-wheer and Else-where.

The name is actually a joke, a bit of a play on words. When warring Khajiit tribes came together to form one country, the coalition leaders called it that because of the Khajiit saying "perfect leadership is always found elsewhere."

I always assumed it was pronounced elsewhere, and it is kinda funny in the right context.
