The same thing always.... Just can't keep playing

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 11:43 am

So after 3 playtroughts i still want to complete the main quest with my Thief character. As well the dark brotherhood and the companions quests. But something is happening. I just can't keep playing. Because well, there's nothing new on the game. It's the same thing, always the same thing. The same giant and mammoths on the same place doing the same thing. The same bandits on a cave doing the same thing. The same mages on the same ritual site doing the same thing. There's nothing new, sadly. And even if you wait 30 days to them respawn. They will be on the same place doing the same thing.

I remeberd that Bethesda telled us that every new gameplay on the world of Skyrim wouldn't be the same thing. The bandits you encountered wouldn't be on the same place. But yes trying to atack towns murdering people and blah blah. I excepected something more deep. The stormcloack camp you find wouldn't be on the same place, could be on emperial town where they sucefully killed everyone. More rumors that could lead us to many many any diferent things. Like:

" You heard rumors of people being atacked by vampires, sundely you tried to search about that but instead you find a group of mages on the town sewer trying to summon something, like a powerfull Daedra". I expected many things. Much more creatures and options of play. Thousands of diferent things and well thousands of random encounters. But just... there's isn't.

I can understand why there isn't too much dialogue options and as well other things. The quest could be more buggy than New vegas.

I'm not disapointed with the game. It's amazing, the world is very detailed and it's very fun to hang around. But at each playtrought you are forced to find the same thing, as well do the same thing.

The definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

I notice that if I follow the same path as other saves, things are almost exactly the same. If I do something else, some things might be different.

Nevertheless, it seems that Todd lied to us when he said two people on the same path would experience totally different things. :sadvaultboy:

This, i just done the same companion quest in a row. It's the same thing. Same bandits doing the same movements. The only thing diferent i could notice was the leveled enimies as well items.

The same on the Tundra, the same giant, doing the same movements on the same bridge.

You can literally see the same things at each playtrought on the game beggining.

I recommend an unarmed Khajiit that slaps dragons.

If you do the same things with your characters, then yes. Personally, my first playthrough was as a fighter/thief/assassin. That's 3 guilds, plus the two main quests (sided with the Stormcloaks). My second playthrough was as an orc fighter/mage. 2 guilds, same two mains, 1 of the guilds "new". Sided with the imperials AFTER finishing the main MQ. Dossiers offer interesting implications (total subcontext, never alluded to by the NPCs AT ALL) IF you read them. Offered a fresh playthrough experience, especially considering that I RP the PCs. My third, I'm just cleaning up the main MQ now with a "pure" mage High Elf who, of course, thinks his s doesn't stink. Being that he thinks he's better than everyone else, including the Thalmor, he dabbles here and there just to say, "See, I can demolish you on your own terms, you pitiful fool." He'll kill just about anyone "just because". Anyway, he didn't side on the civil war yet at all and lo an behold, when it comes time to confront Alduin, after 100s of hours of play, I experience something COMPLETELY new (and very cool) as a condition of "getting where I have to go" (avoiding spoilers). Since MOST players will probably have sided one way or the other (on a single play through) before this point, it's something many will never experience. ANYWAY, point is, if you follow the same paths on subsequent playthroughs of the same world, why would you expect them to change? RP a different character and the experience is different enough to make it feel (semi)new.

I have had bandit raids on dawnstar and have seen bandit hunting parties hunting mammoths and attacking giants, I have seen vampires take on towns and massive amounts of spiders going after townsfolk, the problem is, you are probably fast travelling everywhere.

Wait for the Creation Kit, that's one of the important aspects of the game. They created the base environment with still a quite huge quest-line, after the CK a lot more content will come out infinitely.

I'm playing with a Thief, a Tank/Battlemage and a Conjurer. i'm not talking about feeling with the same character. i'm talking about more random things. Not find anything new the game it's the same as hearing the same dialogue from the same Guard:

"You know what's wrong with Skyrim these days? Everyone is obsessed with Death"

"You know what's wrong with Skyrim these days? Everyone is obsessed with Death"

"You know what's wrong with Skyrim these days? Everyone is obsessed with Death"

Just C'mon.... The same dialogue 100x times. I stabbed that guy.

Saw that alot also. But you see that too frequently. One thing i saw, and i will never be able too see again. Was a Charus killing some Horkers next to Morthal. It was an amazing sight.

I came out of a cave one time, and there was a dragon fighting a mammoth, 3 horkers, 5 spiders, 3 ice wolves, a sabercat, some bandits, a giant, and some vigilants of stendar. And when the dragon died, it was a massivebattle royal which i doused in a hail of fireballs ^_^.

Sundlenly, the guy runned. The horse got bugged. A bandit showed up gaved me an enchanted helmet. Then the hunter that was searching for him showed up instantly and then asked me about the bandit. The bandit was just on his right side. Then the hunter start to shoot arrows on him. Then some spiders showed up and killed the bandit and also a wolf camed into the party. Nothing too much cool, but sudenly showed up. I runned and just saw the hunter killing the spiders

Nah, the roleplay stuff just doesn't work, it's more of an excuse to compensate the lack of variety, of quests, choices & consequences.

I could roleplay any game then, let's take Call of Duty, in there I could roleplay that I'm a pacifist who doesn't use weapons, I would then decide to not move from the sart of the game until peace arrives, just like Gandhi! ... If I needed to roleplay something in order to mask their flaws to be able to enjoy a game then I'd just better give my money to Bethesda and just imagine & roleplay the whole thing in my head.

Ive had a horse have its front end stuck in the ground before nad it was just facing a s s up in the sky >_<. It was pretty silly. Also, the coast around dawnstar winterhold, you will see sme strange stuff. I see most of my craziness out there.

Are people really surprised that game developers lie to us to sell games? It's like someone seeing a fast food commercial, purchasing said food, then complaing because it doesn't live up to all the genorously applied adjectives on the advertisment. Sure it's borderline false advertising, but you knew that burger wasn't going to taste like a slice of heaven and you also knew radiant AI wasn't going to be as great as Todd said it was.

Hey, I live in germany, and all the burgers here are made from Grade A organic meat, so meh. :bunny: But I have had PLENTY of random experiences in this game.

Oh my god, after I saw this, then got off the forums and went to Pandora, this exact song came up. I'm like WTF?! Is this song going to follow me all day? I bet if I watch MSNBC and they report on some lie made by one of the GOP candidates, they'll play this song as they go to commercial.

I never said the Radiant AI didn't work to some extent, just not the extent that Todd would have us all believe it does. I think it works rather well though, as well as it can with the amount of encounters made possible by the variety of creatures/ factions/ relationships.

IMHO Skyrim is everything the Fable series promised to be... so game developers elaborating yes
Bethesda my game developer of choice.. yes

I played more of the Fable 2 games app than any of the fable series... they were extremely creative

I wish Skyrim had something like Caravan from FNV to add some color.

So roadside gambling would add color? I think more challengers would be nice. Of all my 9 or so playthroughs I've only ever been challenged once by a mage in whiterun. He kicked my ass and when I reloaded he didn't show up. I think maybe it was because I reached a certain level in that skill or something but it's something I would definately like to see more of.

I started a topic like this a few months ago... RANDOMIZE. There need to be random encounters. Playing other games like this, you'd run into a group of monsters... not one or two, but many. Like a horde of orcs encamped somewhere... if you reload the game after dying, then maybe there is a random seed so the exact same troll isn't in the exact same place as it always is.

Some stuff has to be static in order to tell the story... but so much that happens is the same...

OK, no offense, but this game is truly not for you. TES games, in the larger RPG genre, are unique in that they require role-playing. As an earlier poster commented, people are probably playing all their characters in the same way, conscious of it or not. I can sit here and speculate as to why this is true -- and I still believe MMOs are the primary reason - but none of those other reasons will solve the issue.

The bottom line is you can't play a TES game like you do other RPG games. TES games are not designed to satisfy all styles of gameplay. If you're not willing to "drink the TES kool-aid" (so to speak), you'll never enjoy this game series.

Oh, WHY CAN'T DRAGONS ATTACK THE INSIDE OF CITIES?!?!?!? THERE ARE NO CEILINGS??!?! Even if there were ceilings I mean come on it's a dragon.... it can fly over the walls and burn/freeze everything and fly away? Why don't they? Because they are all scared of dying??? They were already dead and they use thier chance at new life to hang out on top of mountains and kill Giants? Oh and I heard somewhere that devs had to decrease the amount of dragons that can fight you to 2 at a time.... Has anyone ever fought two dragons at a time?
