The Thieves Guild svcks

*slits both wrists in a bathtub full of vinegar*
Now I could take that several ways...what kind of vinegar? White distilled on one end and balsamic on the other.

FWIW: I have wives in most of the major cities so I balance the "cuteness" with a bit of debauchery.

Yeah, it's a bit gay, but I kinda' like the cuteness of the relationships mixed with the violence of ruling Albion with an aluminum (read aluminium ) fist.

Edit:
I use to like Fable but not anymore. I hate having to worry about getting corrupted and all that stuff. I also HATE how they added guns in Fable II..... Guns and Magic shouldn't mix, if you ask me.
I don't mind the guns, but I go melee for the most part (but, damn, Fable III had some cool gun execution CSs). I am concerned with the evolution of Fable because they seem to not be sticking to medieval stasis.

I actually like the Morality and Good/Evil meters being separate in Fable II. It was fun to tweak becauseI like seeing what I can 'get away with' in RPGs. :P

I think we are heading off-topic now so Let's not talk about Fable no more.

Buck,
Sure some of the members of the Thieve's Guild may well have personality issues, but I suggest they are no worse than than any other Guild. You want to think, maybe, of the Companions for a moment? Its not like any of those (except, perhaps, for the fragrant Aela) are actually well-adjusted, sociable individuals and that's leaving aside the lycanthropy. How about the crew up at the Mages? I am not sure that there is even one of them that isn't a few sandwiches short of a picnic. As for the Dark Brotherhood, well that's as fine a collection of thorough-going psychopaths as you could wish not to meet.

Nah, the TG people are getting a lot of undeserved bad press on this thread. Whereas, in reality, they are no worse, and in some cases better, than the members of the other guilds and a big chunk of the Skyrim population as a whole.
It is not simply bad press. It is criticism, and it is meant to figure out what perhaps could have been done better. Why only praise a game after it has been released and sold? We do care for the TES series and the svcky parts need to be reviewed, too. I frankly care less about the Companions and the Mages Guild. Best is not to derail the thread by comparing the TG to the other guilds, but discuss how each player feels about the TG and how it could get improved in the future. I hope to win more insights with this thread and how you view the TG.

@Buckom: What is up with all those smiley all of a sudden??

Especially when you're leader... does Sapphire ever tell you her real name, or does she continue to treat you like a day 1 noob?

She talks to you more if you do the debt quest.

It's all about principle, I apologize if my desires affect your gameplay. Being the leader should pretty much force everyone to like & respect you, dontcha think? The guild's like a brotherhood. Hopefully everyone can operate together, sing songs, hold hands, etc. There's no need to suddenly hate the proven hero-leader, and never warm up to him/her. Plus, it only makes sense that she should be romanceable.

I've liked some of my bosses and respected most of them, But not all. Their's very little my last boss knew about me that wasn't in my personnel file, that wasn't directly job related. We had one shortish conversation ( while waiting for a tele-conference ) where he asked if anyone was going to the Gator national's, my response was no, the largest mudd-bog in the area was the same weekend and my husband and I prefered t go to that. End of that story, he didn't need to know anymore.

I worked for that company for 10 yr's. My first Boss didn't even know I had a son, til he saw us at the beach...I'd worked for him for 5 yr's.

You can work with anyone, even those that you dislike very much as long as you both stay proffesional, each do your part of the job, and communicate enough to get it done.

It help's if you like and respect each other....but the more important thing in the TG anyway is TRUST. A long as you can trust her to do her job and not betray the guild, then that is all that is really required for employment.

Notice I said required, I personally like to know all the NPC's backstories. Makes them more interesting.

No, I am not saying they are not tough enough. I say they svck. The whole troop.

Everyone has got strengths and weaknesses, but why do the thieves need to have greed and vanity as weaknesses? It is a terrible combination.

you can't really be a career theif (they are) without being greedy. Also vanity fits, my only problem with the guildline was that you didn't have to try to sneek at ALL. and it was short, oblivion had much better quest lines all around but with not as a good story. just saying skyrim is still amazing.

Yes, you can. It is what makes a thief become a good and a respectable thief.

I like the Thieves Guild questline as a whole but like the OP I find the members are pathetic (with Delvin being the exception). I have more respect for hold guards.

Can you give these items to Delvin, collect the money, have him put them on display, then "steal" them back? If so I'll probably do it on my next character.

I just tried to put the larceny target's on display and found out that you can't as they are "Quest items", so I sold them to Devlin and them took them off the shelf. You don't have to "steal" the larceny target's, they say take, but the other object's that were on the shelf said steal.

That's my point, yeah. NPC's with depth should always be considered a good thing.
Whether one likes romance or not, or whether one wants to know an NPC lackey more, or not, there should always be more options and conversation. It makes the environment feel more open... It's better to have something in the game and to be able to not do it, rather than completely remove that something so there is no choice at all.
I had a hard time grasping how less makes a game better.

You know what bothers me the most is after you kill
Spoiler
Mercer
, Byrnjolf asks you to become leader of the Tieves Guild, but most of these NPC characters from the guild still tread you like you're a nobody. How realistic is that.

I want to kill them all and maybe let Karliah and Byrnjolf alive then just keep the skeleton key myself.

Great. Makes sense.Thank you very much for the input. Will use that strategy with my character once he joins the guild. I remember keeping one of the two Eyes of the Falmer on a previous build but this time I will use more to decorate the home(s).

closed for cleanup.

You know, if I have to clean out 17 posts because they were off-topic, then the thread was well and truly derailed. Now I have to review the posts. This makes me cranky.
