The what we love about skyrim topic.

The negative energy on this board is depressing. Post at least one thing you love about the game, try to get some good vibes on the board :)

I will start with the atmosphere, it's one of the many things I really enjoy about this game. There are so many vistas to take in, yesterday I was standing in the middle of an island on a lake, with a low mist hanging over the hills. A few moments later it started snowing and I could barely see a few feet in front of me. Awesome....

What I love is that 90 hours into, I am still discovering new things. Not just little things either, things that make a huge impact on the game, things that are epic long quest chains or things that really reward me or things that are just plain cool to look at!

The game is just filled with great, great moments and thats what I love about Skyrim

Chasing waterfalls. But I should stick to the rivers and the lakes that I'm used to.

I think the water is fantastic, from the Hjaalmarsh to the rivers and the little lakes in the mountains

1a) Markarth might be the coolest looking city since Vivec

1b) But then there's Blackreach, which is also really awesome

2) The view from the top of The Throat of The World

3) Lydia, who takes all the hits for my squishy mage-ass <3

Just couldn't help it eh? This is about what people like, what made you feel it's right to put what you don't like? Is the title not clear enough?

I am all for topics that appreciate the game. I love Skyrim so far.

Hmmm...just one? There are so many, but for now I'll go with what's on my mind.

I love how beautiful Skyrim is in that rugged, wild way. Cyrodiil was very cheery and bright and lush and colorful, and I loved it, don't get me wrong. But I love the wild look and ambience of Skyrim. Traveling at night feels dangerous, like I imagine it would in a place that is occupied by Wolves, Sabre Cats, Witches, and Trolls. Some people complain about the snow, but I think it compliments the stark, foreboding landscape. I stand next to roaring rapids and I can almost feel how cold and powerful the water and the land is.

Then again, I have an overactive imagination and I really get into games like this. Meh. What do I know. I'm just lowly Argonian scum.

All the little things.
Fun miscellanious items like a bee in a jar and a butterfly in a jar.
The little stories that are often told in dungeons and remote locations.

I was clearing out a bandit cave, and a blind man was guarding the entrance.
I snuck past him and overheard conversations from the other bandits about how they were gonna get rid of him.

Anyway, long story short, I suppose the old blind man will be surprised to find out hes the only thing left alive in that place.

I love a lot of things, but the thing freshest in my mind is right before I quit just now, I went home in Solitude to put my loot away and there was a dragon attack, so I had to finish that off.

When I did, I got a bad ass Execution and CLEAVED IT'S HEAD OFF. :o

I didn't even know you could do Executions on dragons, let alone decapitate them.

I'll just everything. No game has svcked me in like this since Morrowind...and before that Civi 2.

Just an overwhelmingly fun game.

I love almost everything about this game. It is probably one of the best, if not the best, single player game I have ever played. The small bugs, performance issues, and imbalances are just like a smudge on your new car, but they're annoying and you still want them gone.

I just wanted to express that even people complain about some things it doesn't automatically mean that game svcks! People should realize it and not take it as personal offense when someone criticizes the game. I love so many many things in the game that it's just pointless trying to type them all out. And I really believe that's how it is in most cases. There are so few flaws that it's easy to point them out :) I have no ill will for the topic, just wanted to some people realize that! :)

I came out of my house and this skinny old guy wearing nothing but a loin cloth challenged me to a duel. I thought pfffft you can't be serious, I'll batter this old fool and might get a cool item for it. The townsfolk start gathering to watch and I agree.

He kicked my [censored] back to oblivion, I had to chuckle!

The animals. It's really cool to watch two butterflies chasing each other, the way the foxes scamper over the rocks, how the elk look up and around, trot away and then stop and look back. I think they have done a really good job at getting the wilderness atmosphere right and the way it is inhabited by other creatures.

I love that love the fact that I can point my character at the horizon and start walking and spend the next few hours discovering all kinds and have a blast.

The fact that 40 hours in I've barely touched the main quest and the Companions, haven't even started the College of Winterhold, haven't even joined the Dark Brotherhood or Thieves' Guild, have joined the Stormcloaks but haven't even done any quests for them.

The fact that only yesterday I rediscovered the best way to play the game. When I first got the game, I picked a direction and started walking, taking in whatever experiences presented themselves. More recently though I've been fast travelling close to quests, doing the quest, fast travelling back to Markarth/Whiterun/Riften to sell all my stuff and level my Smithing and Enchanting. Yesterday I gave the game a whole new lease of life - not that it needed it - by just going exploring with no particular goal. It's the best way to play the game.

The fact that only yesterday did I first venture up to the highest point in the game - the Throat of the World - and stood up on the peak and looked around at the ridiculously huge area I could explore in full.

The fact that I was wandering around the area below Windhelm/above Riften, and stopped for a few minutes just to take in the beauty of an enormous series of roaring waterfalls that I found.

Everything else about the game (except gimped Destruction, my ONLY major complaint).

The fact that I still have about 10 (or more, I haven't really been counting) Daedric shrine quests to do.

The fact that even after I finish the Stormcloaks quest line, I still have the Imperial faction to complete on a new character.

The fact that I'm gonna start 6 or 7 new characters, each of which will have a substantially different experience - simply because of different skills, and picking a different direction in which to travel when I start the game.

Walking up to winterhold and seeing the warm glow of lights through a blizzard, took me back to my childhood watching Christmas films in front of a log fire...

i like its addictive like the old ff games were where u can go anywhere even the high scaled areas just to snoop and be opportunistic i came across a bunch of bandits attacking a giant and mammouth i was lvl 5 just shoot arrows took half hour to kill everything but boy did i have loot i also like the dragons reappearing but not lvl up to u facing 2 dragons at 1ce is awesome the interesting little bits in the dungeons if u sneak u overhear i could swear i heard "my precious"from some falmer the landscape is awesome so is the sky at night in the wilds beautiful the combat with melee feels more like your hitting some thing i also like the jobs its something to do when your tired

This. At first I sneak attacked him, but when I read his name I re-loaded and left him. Such a nice touch.

I just finished a quest and towards the end of it I made a decision. I made my way out, had a final interaction, and regretted my decision. I felt bad. I'm around 60-70 hours in and I've barely done anything it seems.
Edit: and that is awesome!

I love the atmosphere, the combination of spectacular nature (reminds me of the landscape in ?sterdalen) ,epic music and the everchanging weather. im some 80+ hours into the game on one char and still discovering new dungeons and questlines and the occational oddbal bard wandering about Skyrim. Found myself sitting in a myre just whatching the glowing bugs and crabs go about their business, then suddenly a troll and two mamuths show up and and im fighting for my life, leveling my block several levels in the process :) Funny moments like when my horse go charging into battle like a berserker makes me giggle.

Running the game at Ultra it looks fantastic and runs pretty much flawless, so if you got the hardware you`re in for a treat.
There is just so much to this game and sitting at work all I can think about is what im going to do next when I have a chance to play :)
