The word "Magicka"...

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 12:21 pm

Wouldn't mana be using the stuff of your own essence, in effect using tiny bits of your soul to power spells? No need for that in Mundus, what with the stuff of magic leaking from the sun and stars. Magicka is in a way your ability to harness primal spell stuff from outside yourself. so I have to say mana would be a very silly word indeed, in this particular universe.

Maybe magicka should be called mojo. That would be great

What's wrong with 'Chutzpah?'

Hey at least it's not as dumb as calling the amount of physical energy you have FATIGUE. I mean, technically, have a LOT of Fatigue would mean you'd be too tired to swing the damn sword!

A potion that RESTORES Fatigue? I don't want a potion that's about to make me more tired!

I'm glad they changed it to Stamina. It should have been called that since day 1, IMO.

My 2 cents. :P

Isn't "mana" a type of bread?

Why is it called mana anyways? Isn't mana a bird?

Huh, personally I think that Magicka sounds better than mana.

Yeah I always call it mana out of habit as well.

Forget what it's called...why is it BLUE? In every freakin' game.

My guess is that they stick to RGB. Red for health, green for stamina, and blue for magic.

It would be nice to have some mojo along with our mana. You could cast some of that mojo in the various taverns and inns of Skyrim.

No, I was being sarcastic to make a point, which I elaborated upon in a subsequent post.
"Healtha" sounds really dumb, doesn't it? Well, if it sounds dumb, why is "Magicka" acceptable?
For me it's a trifle, but I do think it sounds dumb.
No one is stopping YOU from referring to it as magic. And if it really bothers you, just stop playing the game.

I honestly could not care less what they call it and think it's Beth's game, let em call it what they please.

Mana makes me think of J-RPGs. I kinda prefer Magicka and other words like 'Energy'.

"Magicka"...its kind of a silly word, i never use it when referring to my magic source, i always just call it "mana" like EVERY OTHER RPG THATS EVER BEEN MADE. Maybe they wanted to be original? I just think its silly. What are your thoughts?
It's been magicka in the elder scrolls as long as I can remember. I also hope they keep it that way. All this generic mana talk drives me crazy.

Mana makes me think of playing a Game Boy RPG from the 90s.

I'm past that.
