The Worst Movie(s) You('ve) Seen

Post » Sat Jul 02, 2011 4:48 pm

Thread title.

One of the worst movies I've recently seen is X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Why? Because they destroyed the awesome character that WAS Deadpool and Gambit was poorly portrayed. I should have know better however. X-Men 3 - whatcha call it - was bad compared to the second, and horrible compared to the first.

I haven't seen The Last Airbender, but I don't intend to. My friends, and nearly every movie critic who has seen it, have said it's god-awful and an insult to the cartoon it's based on. That's to be expected of a director like M. Night "Shamalamadingdong": producing horrible cinema.

JC's Avatar was god awful, same with the Dark Knight IMO. Honestly 99.9% of comic book movies are horrendous.

svckerPunch was god-awful also. How did Vanessa Hudgens keep an acting career post-High School Musical? I think I dislike the director and his 'visions'. (In my opinion) 300 was a poor portrayal of what ACTUALLY HAPPENED between the 300 Spartans and the Persian war machine. And Watchman, well...3 hours or so of blue man [censored] and gore.

He butchered a, in my opinion, once great graphic novel.

Every part of The Twilight Saga so far. My girlfriend wanted me to see them all with her, I refuse to see the next one.

Robin hood, that terrible movie that came out last year from the directer of twilight. Good lord that movie svcked.

The third Shrek movie was horrendous.

Avatar was terrible, I can't see how people could love it.

Every cop movie I've seen has just plain svcked. The same generic story rehashed over and over again, just stupid.

Entertainingly bad or just plain bad?

Some of my favorite entertainingly bad movies that weren't bad on purpose: Dolemite 2: The Human Tornado, Black Belt Jones, Troll 2, Blood Feast, Eaten Alive...erm...I know there are a LOT more, but my brain's not working. There are plenty of blockbusters that are uninspired tripe, but they don't hold a candle in badness to some of the stuff from between '60s - '90s. :P

I wouldn't say it's terrible (As a standalone film, it's okay), but Paranormal Activity 2 was the biggest disappointment ever for me. Absolutely loved the first film, then the sequel comes and does nothing but copy the first movie's scares, then ends with one of the dumbest twists ever put on camera. Good god, I was bitter for a week after I saw that trash.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Claus_Conquers_the_Martians is so bad it is funny. It has an odd happy charm to it, but that doesn't make it any better.

Man of the Year with Robin Williams. That damn thing was marketed as a comedy, but it wasn't. It was an extremely boring thriller, that opened as a comedy.

I don't know why I didn't just get up and leave.

I thought he did an alright great job.

This coming from someone who had read the novel before. I was expecting a horrible flop but overall it was a good adaption. Some things I didn't like, but overall alright.

Dead Like Me: Life After Death

They killed off a great show, brought it back to life with this movie.. and then butchered it.

Edit- Wild Hogs. How could I forget Wild Hogs? There's just something about this movie that I despise, and FX shows it constantly because they only have about five different films in their lineup.

I'm with you there. Not terrible, but honestly didn't do the book much justice. Alan Moore isn't a stupid man, if he doesn't want his art turned into a movie, people oughta listen. I know he doesn't own any of that old DC stuff anymore, but that shouldn't matter as it's only a sign of how greedy the studios were and that the artists were naive business people. Image Comics exists almost solely because of this kind of manipulation (studios owning creations instead of the artist) and look at all the great product that came out of those offices right after they formed. I'm getting off topic now, but Hollywood regurjitating every comic franchise that ever made money just rubs me the wrong way.

I was actually listening to an interview by a critic or someone in cinema on the radio. basically he goes into how hollywood evolved from an artistic cinema to becoming a more business corporaton. how in cinema its important to take risks and to expand on our art and culture. but the business approach to it has people just wanting to make more money and taking o risks, this means making sequels, prequels, and remakes out the wazoo because they know there going to get a demographic into the movie one way or another and afraid of creating something new.

Also talks about how they want to get all movies to appeal to all audiences so that they can get overall more money. Like how movies multi-task by having many themees like trying to be a comedy, action, romance, and such that it overall destroys the movie by not sticking with a general tone. So the movies go all over the place. I mean it can be done, but rarely.

The recent Green Hornet movie, they made him a complete [censored].

In the original show, he was a suave James Bond type guy.

Avatar, the story was generic, the only reason anybody likes it is because of the massive CGI use.

i like dark knight but i agree avatar was boring as hell. $12 and 3 hours im never going to get back.

the only movie i have ever actually walked out of was wing commander. it just hurt to watch a movie that bad because at the time i was playing the games nonstop.

someone mentioned the green hornet which i probably wont bother to see. i could have sworn that green hornet was black. or am i thinking about another super hero.

The Last Airbender, that was just [censored] depressing how wrong it was.

The newest Pirates of the Caribbean Movie, they're getting progressively worse and the newest one was just complete B.S.

I saw James Cameron's Avatar at the theatre, and the effects WERE pretty badass. But seeing it on TV, you realize that it's a subpar story that's baisiclly Pochehontas with Aliens.

You are thinking of the Green Lantern. While the portrayal of the Green Lantern that us people who grew up in the early 2000s saw was black (mainly from the Justice League TV series), you have to keep in mind that the Green Lantern in the comic book world refers to a group of people. I haven't seen the movie but when people get confused because the Green Lantern is white it's because they aren't that familiar with the series.
