This is ridiculous...

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:08 pm

I've experienced a new record this evening....having to reset my PS3 5 times within a 10 minute period, because the quest "You Will Know When It Happens" continues to freeze up when I am on top of the landing platform, and about to inspect the Vertibird for the explosives that the one guy attaches to them.

Bethesda and Obsidian, I know how hard you guys work to make these games for us, and by no means do I mean you guys any disrespect when I say this, but this is beyond ridiculous.....if this continues, you might lose me as a customer. No offense.

.....and you guys just lost me as a customer. I can't even finish the "Eureka" mission since it has frozen up on me the moment the NCR Special Forces come to assist me fighting the Legion. I've had to restart my PS3 umpteen-zillion times this evening within a 2 1/2 hour period. If you wish to further discuss, please feel gree to contact me off-line....but I'm done otherwise.

They lock threads like that to keep from people posting in them. Keeps it organized. Before you take this as a personal attack, or think I'm trying to defend Bethesda, I should let you know I agree with you. Just thought I'd let you know so you don't think they do it just for J's.

it's funny because I haven't bought this game yet because of the Fallout 3 fiasco and now I have totally lost interest in it and probably will never buy it even if a patch would fix every show stopper.

I guess they failed me as a customer.

We keep that one locked and pinned so that it's easier for people to see when it's been updated by staff and Devs. We reserve that one for when the Devs want to say something that we hope everyone will end up reading. (So you don't have to scroll through pages of posts just to see if it had been updated by someone official.)

And we try and keep one thread open and running for you guys to discuss it on (which at the moment would be this thread.)

I didn't know that was such a problem. ;)

Im also on PS3 and my game freezes every half an hour os so. The game is definitely flawed. I gave up on it months ago. £40 wasted.

I don't mind the freezing when I've been playing for a few hours straight, but every 20 minutes is starting to get annoying. Dead Money definitely affected my freezing, but only after completeing it. Playing the game with it installed seems to have no effect, but once I return from the Sierra Madre, I freeze way more often. Hope a fix can be released for this.

I registered simply to comment here!
Clearly, the bugs, crashes, glitches ect arent simply a few rare cases. This is clearly a huge issue for alot of people.

It's a shame, because this is an absolutely amazing awesome game, well I think so! But the bugs and the crashes are making it almost unplayable for me.

I think people are lashing out and saying "[censored] you, bethesda!!" because it's so damn frustrating to play a great game and then have it ruined by massive bugs. I mean glitches, not bloatflys..

Some people have said "well so what if it crashes ever half hour or so? Is it so hard to get up, turn off your PS3 and then turn it on again?" And well no, that's not so much the problem. But of course when the game freezes entirely it wont let you do anything, so you have to switch off the PS3 on the back.. and that's really not good for the console. Also it's a case of the interuptions.. if a player is at a critical moment and the game freezes (as it is wont to do) that can wreck the gaming experience completely.

As said, I love this game. But I just cant really face playing it for much longer if these issues will not be resolved. It's not unfair if a person spends £40+ on a game to get decent gameplay and service out of it.. is it?

A brilliant game, but it feels as though it was rushed out prematurely when it really really desperately needed a few months more work to iron out these issues. I've never had problems like the ones I have with FalloutNV ever before, not even when spamming tanks in GTA did i ever get crashes this persistent and frequently!

Makes me sad :(

Welcome to the forums.

Unfortunately, a patch will never fix the freezing issues. One can hope, but it's a false hope.

Thankyou for the welcome. :)

First off, the game is made by Obsidian, NOT Bethesda Game Studios. Bethesda Softworks just PUBLISHED it. It is up to Obsidian to patch it, and they are responsible for it's state during initial release.

Second, we also know there is a patch coming sometime within the next few weeks or so, that should fix more.

I just noticed it says "REPLYING TO THIS IS RIDICULOUS" when the post window opens lol lol lol!!! Couldn't help but laugh! Posting on these forums is a joke, and... It's ridiculous! If they are actually going to fix this game I will be surprised. What a waste of a good game. I hope you don't F up Elderscrolls.

I'll believe a patch is coming when my PS3 forces it down my throat before it allows me to play the game. Until then :banghead: I'll be doing that as well as losing all interest in any future bethesda/oblivion endeavor into gaming. I'm done. I don't have $60 to casually throw around on crap that's broken.

I'm not sure if you meant that Obsidian was solely responsible for it's state during the initial release but Bethesda was responsible too. They may be the publisher but they were more than that for this project. They tested it. And if they deemed it ready and were willing to stamp their name on the game, then it's their responsibility too.

It should fix more but I don't think it will fix the freezing problems. Since F3, they've probably tried to fix it but if they can't fix it in F3, then I don't think they can fix it for FNV. They won't admit to it because it would probably lead to some legal thing.

Actaully they probably wont admit it because they have fixed it with the Creative engine for Skyrim. The gamebryo engine is just a REALLY crappy engine, so they are slowly brushing it under the rug and have moved on.

I've played some games that seemed liked they weren't ready to be released, but this is a new low. Yea, I bought the game almost immediately after it was realeased and have been waiting for a patch that would make this game playable ever since. I gotta say, this is a new low for the standards in recent video game releases. When are we going to get some answers? Nevermind this patch (Which I doubt will fix anything) I think we deserve some answers! This game IS UNPLAYABLE!!! Come on Obsidian/Bethesda! Someone explain to us why we shelled out this money for an unfinished product and what the plans are to make it right. This kind of thing can't just be "Swept under the rug" can it? I read somewhere a group was trying to sue Activision some time ago because Blacks Ops was released to them as an unfinished game, but Black Ops was heaven on it's release date compared to this.

The really sad thing is that everyone who is complaining about FNV and saying that they will never buy another Bethesda game again, will be there on the release date of Elderscrolls 5 (including me) because it was made with a new game engine. So? Yeah, they are pretty much going to get away with it... Damn

It is sad. I wait a few months until I buy games. Every game needs a patch even if they never bring a patch out for it.
I 'Will" be buying more games form the makers of Fallout. I understand that sometime you win and some times you make a really mess of things. Bethesda had my vote but I have to say I am pretty upset that I am waiting until the newest patch comes out before I play FNV agian.
The game has not crashed on me. But I did manage to do somethingthat the makers didn't plan for and now I have to start agian after 17 hrs of play. In some ways it just shows that I thought of something they didn't. And thats fine with me... Only now I have to do it all agian if I want to get "Come Fly With Me" quest completed...
