As if numbers make a better game....

This is the best ES game I have played. To date, at least.

If you don't want to discuss this serious issue and only post smarmy remarks then don't bother.

This thread? Yes.
I was gonna say that. Damn flooding control.

I would never say it is dumbed down. I would say some things changed and were made simpler and easier to use, but I wouldn't go as far as to say dumbed down. Sure you can't micromanage anymore and that svcks but you can have just as much fun. Or at least I can. I don't give a damn if you can or not. No offense.

And Main Event, half of this forum is nothing BUT serious issues. The same exact ones. over and over and over again.

The only thing I can agree with is the cities are getting smaller but otherwise I have to disagree

This, I thought that with the more generic NPC's that they would do a Daggerfall and make the cities massive, instead the cities actually got even smaller.

You disagree that questlines aren't getting shorter? My stats menu lists the Companions finished in 7 quests. Not good.

Good quests, though.

Edit: Personally, all I think the guilds need is a set requirement for 'Do X radiant story missions before the next main mission become available'

It's not like Oblivion's guilds weren't full of filler quests, too.

Well, if the series is really spiraling out of control we're not going to see the effects until the next full TES game is released in 5-6 years. It sure as hell isn't effecting this one in the slightest.

And seriously.... was metagaming your stat gains in Oblivion really all that fun? Yeah, we could do it.... but it certainly didn't aid in "immersion" or "RP" or any of that stuff. And constantly keeping track of every skill gain so that you'd know when you should force your next level, making up silly "classes" with mish-mashes of Major skills designed just around the stats and not character concepts, etc - really drew you out of the game. Paying more attention to the numbers than to actually playing.

No, I don't miss the Oblivion stat system at all.

Agreed. For the first part, remember the mage guild recommendations from Oblivion? or the Fencing quests? Jeez that felt "grindy". As for the edit, that kind of goes against what I just said but as long as they don't feel forced then I agree.

Maybe a little off-topic

The plight of most online games - WoW, Rift, etc.

Your hps are too low. Your dps is lower than it should be. Your healing isn't where it should be. Your crits should be bigger.

It's not like online games are "played" anymore either. It's all about the numbers.

I had a good time making sure I jumped 200 times before id level up. It is what it is, never played dagger fall but I put 100s of hours into morrowind. The house quests were certainly more interesting but that game needed a serious overhaul by the community to finally become what it was in the end. Id like some more in depth quests but i enjoy skyrim for what it is and have already got my moneys worth out of it.

Eh, that one's a little much.

I'm thinking just, like, Main Quest->Radiant Quest->Main Quest->Radiant Quest, as long as the quests can be triggered correctly to not mess up the pacing

Spoiler
For example, having the Silver Hand attack the Companions after the radiant quest, not having to do a radiant quest to get the main quest concerning that

Kiralyn, in no way was anyone required to meta game all those +5s. If you held yourself to that and it diminished your enjoyment, its your fault. I miss having stats beyond the absolute basics. They took it to the absolute bare minimum. One less stat and its Diablo for (expletive)'s sake.

In Oblivion I used a mod called Kubo's Character Advancement System which, strangely enough, made Oblivion play for me a lot like Skyrim.

I dont get it Main Event, what exactly are you trying to achieve? If you are just here to troll then you are going to have to do a little better than shouting "this game svcks" again and again and again, however if you are serious about debating the direction the series is going in then please try to post something that is at least a little bit constructive.

Agreed. A little bit more dynamic questing would be a nice tie in as well. Like working for the Legion or the SC, it was basically the Battle for Whiterun, then "Go to camp X, get orders to attack enemy group Y".

That is where Radiant Story could have really shined. What if you could have just gone through the main quest line (maybe with a few required radiant quests like you said), but had the option to report to a camp, do a quest or two, and maybe actually take an enemy camp or actually get some extra soldiers or better gear for the next big battle? Sounds fun to me.

Come on, Kiralyn. You've been active around here enough to know that basically no one has asked for an identical system to what was in past titles. There have been numerous solutions that would have easily fixed the leveling system's modifier grind without compromising the entire character system.

I get so tired of this tired strawman repeated ad nauseum.

I've always like Fallout 3's approach to it. Not the generalized XP, but just getting a set amount of points each level you can put into whatever you want. If we got that, but for attributes instead of skills it would have been neat.
